Yeah i don't think its whether or not Mitchell had the right to kill Walter, so much as he had to choice between one life vs. 1,000,000,000 lives. and he picked the latter, although his choice didn't work out, Walter betrayed not only Earth but every living soul in the galaxy by allowing them to escape......

Great ep! And Mitchel could conceivably be convicted of murder by some liberal judge, but Walter could be convicted of far worse. Up to High Treason against the United States, and even (if they do this now) the Sovereign Planet of Earth.

Why couldn't Mitchell use a Zat to stun Walter out of the way instead using a glock. If he used a Zat on Walter, there wont be a court martial offense on his record and Walter be reprimanded for his action or inaction.

Because the standard sidearm is a handgun.

When the team's going around on-base, they usually don't carry sidearms. But when they do, as far as I remember, they're usually carrying handguns, not zats. Zats are more of a field weapon.

The Team Comes to Terms With "Growing Pains" in Next Episode

In the wake of the fall of Ankgor the Der'kal, dozens of smaller human and Jaffa worlds have banded together in a coalition powerful enough to stand united against their common threat. But when their capital world is sacked by the alien invaders, they appeal to the Alliance for membership and protection.

However, the Alliance is divided on the very issue, with the Jaffa and Earth unwilling to allow "more primitive" cultures into the body. SG-1, itself on the side of the Nox and Tok'ra, must try to find a way to broker a treaty that will keep their own people satisfied, while still not leaving millions unprotected and open to slaughter at the hands of the Der'kal.

"Growing Pains" will not feature any significant guest stars.

My guess is that he's the one writing the Stargate books as a cover story and his friends are all amazed that they gut picked up by a publisher so quickly when as with his hathor story "They hated it"
                    This isn't Atlantis?
                    I don't think so.

And now for the most-comprehensive thing I have ever done... ever.

                          Spoiler:
                          Stargate Timeline:

                          10,000,000+ Years Ago:
                          - Ori-Alteran War (ends in Alteran exodus, as the only alternative was the use of the Ark of Truth).
                          - Alterans arrive in Milky Way from their home galaxy.
                          - Dakara colonized and "Dakara device" built and used.
                          ~8,000,000 Years Ago:
                          - Alteran Empire stretches from Dakara to Heliopolis.
                          - Earth made capital world of Alteran space.
                          - Zero Point Module developed.
                          ~7,000,000 Years Ago:
                          - Alteran explorers make first contact with the Furlings and Nox.
                          - Original "Alliance" established with 3 members.
                          - Pegasus Galaxy labeled prospect for colonization by Alteran scientists.
                          ~6,500,000 Years Ago:
                          - First Asgard sleeper ships arrive in the Milky Way. Despte their lack of hyperdrive technology, they are inducted into the Alliance due to their advancement in other areas and potential in later times.
                          - The Der'kal are forced to abandon their dying homeworld, and end up in conflict with neighboring races who refuse to share their resources. The growing armada thus becomes a conquering body, wiping out all the worlds in its path but decimating them beyond use in the process.
                          ~6,000,000 Years Ago:
                          - "The Great Plague" begins sweeping the galaxy.

                          ~3,000,000 Years Ago:
                          - First Goa'uld gain sentience.
                          - Pegasus Galaxy "Dakara device" built and used to spread life throughout space.
                          - Alliance races begin calling the Alterans "Ancients" in reverence.
                          - "Great Plague" subsides.
                          ~2,000,000 Years Ago:
                          - Lantean scientists begin setting up civilizations across Pegasus, calling the Alteran-esque race "humans."
                          ~200,000 Years Ago:
                          - Human race emerges on Earth, spawned largely from Alterans that remained behind when their people fled to Pegasus.
                          - Iratus bug populations encounter humans for the first time in the Pegasus Galaxy.
                          - Humans emerge in the Ori galaxy as a less-advanced form of the Ori themselves, due largely to genetic mutations. The more-advanced Ori decide to not interfere with human development and keep them primitive.
                          ~30,000 Years Ago:
                          - Asgard begin developing hyperdrive technology, finally realizing the need for faster-than-light travel if they are to ever expand beyond the Ida Galaxy.
                          - The Wraith emerge as a species as certain groups of human-feeding Iratus bugs evolve.

                          - Asgard hyperdrive perfected.
                          - Ori ascend and create the religion of Origin to convince humans that they are gods.
                          - Research into ascension begins on Atlantis.
                          - Finding unprotected Lantean outposts on numerous worlds, as well as techological marvels on human worlds left behind to help in the advancement of said peoples, the Wraith begin adapting Ancient devices to their own use.
                          - Der'kal discover Milky Way and Pegasus galaxies.
                          ~10,000 Years Ago:
                          - Lantean scouts report first contact with the Wraith.

                          - Pandora, Janus, Moros, Ganos Lal born. Pandora's Box created.

                          - Alterans return to Earth, some mingling with humans there and some ascending.
                          - Antarctic gate freezes over when Alteran settlement there is abandoned.
                          - Ancient policy of "non-interference" is firmly established, to prevent the mistakes made in Pegasus.

                          - Feud develops between Ra and Apophis. Ra's position as Supreme System Lord is questioned.

                            (Rest of it)

                            Spoiler:
                            2008 AD:
                            - The Milky Way Galaxy strikes back at the Ori, retaking much of what was lost the previous two years.
                            - The Stargate Program is revealed on Earth.
                            - Adria descends and leads an armada of Ori ships back to the galaxy, threatening to undo all that SG-1 has accomplished.
                            - The Trust takes a more pro-active stance in trying to shape galactic affairs.
                            - The Ori War ends (Milky Way victory). Ancients again intervene to remove the attackers and save SG-1, then turn their attention toward combating the only remaining Ori; Adria.
                            - The Ark of Truth is used to end any and all devotion to Adria, thus denying her of a power base. Morgan La Fey, with the blessing of the other Ancients, destroys her.
                            2009 AD:
                            - The Nox approach Earth, the Jaffa, the Tok'ra, and the Hebridanians with a suggestion to form a new Alliance. This would prevent any power like the Goa'uld, Replicators, or Ori from ever conquering the galaxy again.
                            - Zanous Garrin attacks the newly-formed Alliance on Heliopolis with an alien-enhanced al'kesh, but is foiled before he can destroy the planet.
                            - The Lucian Alliance is split in two, with half following the returned-Garrin and half remaining loyal to its founders.
                            - An abandoned Furling warship is discovered and recovered by Garrin and his men.
                            - Fearing an all-out attack, the Alliance launches a strike at Garrin's base of operations, destroying his fleet in a costly battle.
                            - Zanous Garrin is revealed to be an android dispatched by the Der'kal to prepare the galaxy for their invasion. The android is destroyed and the alien armada arrives, laying waste to the Alliance fleet.
                            2010 AD:
                            - The Der'kal wipe out the Hebridanians and destroy Hebridan, leaving the Alliance with only four members.
                            - Daniel Jackson and Vala Mal Doran sneak onto Hebridan and locate the survivors of the attack there. The real Zanous Garrin is found and released to help the survivors.
                            - Over 80 personnel from Earth's Icarus Base go missing in action, having been evacuated to the extragalactic Ancient vessel Destiny.
                            - The United Nations, a supranational body on Earth, takes control of the International Stargate Command, and essentially becomes the space-based arm of Earth affairs.
                            - A Jaffa stronghold world called Ankgor is attacked by the Der'kal, but the offensive there is repelled by Alliance forces.
                            - SG-1 becomes determined to locate Pandora's Box, an Ancient superweapon capable of enormous devastation.
                            - Jonas Quinn, a former member of SG-1, travels back in time almost five years in order to warn Earth about the capabilities of the Der'kal, and the events that, if not altered, will lead to the fall of the Alliance.
                            - Earth develops a virus codenamed "Agent One," that is capable of wiping out the Der'kal. An unintentional side-effect of it, however, would be the probable destruction of all non-Earthborn life wherever it spread.
                            - The Der'kal conquer Ankgor at last, prompting millions to flee to the safety of other Alliance worlds. Millions more are killed when Agent One is released by the Trust there, and the aliens decimate the planet's surface to eradicate the deadly contagion.
                            2011 AD:
                            - In the wake of the fall of Ankgor, and the use of Agent One on both Der'kal and Jaffa, dozens of worlds petition the Alliance for membership and protection.
                            - Construction of the experimental warship Jupiter begins on Earth, thanks to plans brought back through time by Jonas Quinn.
                            - The Tok'ra High Councillor, Anise, is thought to be killed in a terrorist attack on Chulak. In reality, she has been taken prisoner by the Der'kal for unknwon reasons.
                            - With their leader missing, and the Jaffa seemingly responsible, the Tok'ra marshall their forces on the edge of the Free Jaffa Nation, leaving several key sectors open to Der'kal expansion.
                            - Teal'c's position as Chancellor of the Free Jaffa is challeneged by the Traditionalists, and his power base begins to slip under pressure to withdraw from the Alliance.
                            - Anise's host, Freya is allowed to return to Alliance space, though her symbiote is still in captivity.
                            - SG-1 discovers a lost armada of Furling warships, though an attempt to bring them back to Earth is stopped by the Der'kal.
                            - Pandora's Box is discovered by SG-1, but its accidental destruction sets back hopes of victory.
                            - The female Der'kal warrior Lor'al forces Anise to blend with her, granting her all the knowledge of the Tok'ra and the Alliance. She is placed in charge of the war effort, causing a rift within the alien ranks.
                            - Contruction of the futuristic Earth ship X-305 Jupiter is finished.
                            - The Der'kal armada attacks Dakara in a feint to draw off the Alliance, then launches a massive assault on Earth. Human resistance is stiff and the aliens suffer massive casualties, but ultimately the planet falls to them, reducing the Alliance to three active members as the Tau'ri are nearly wiped out. The International Stargate Command is destroyed and SG-1 is dissolved.
                            2012 AD:
                            - A year passes in which the Der'kal continue to gain ground against the Alliance. Roughly 10,000 human refugees from Earth flee to the Beta Site, abandoning the billions trapped on their homeworld for now.
                            2013 AD:
                            - The human refugees begin to organize themselves in preparation to rejoin the war effort, despite major losses and lack of an ability to replace what they lose in battle. A rescue operation liberates some three-hundred persons from Der'kal captivity.
                            - The Chinese-built MBP-305 Mao Zedong arrives, eventually leading to a tense stand-off between the newcomers and refugees. The warship ultimately ends up under refugee control.
                            - A military coup d'etat attempts to takeover the Beta Site from the hands of Samantha Carter and David Taylor, resulting in the conspirators failing when loyalists successfully retook the MBP-305 Jupiter and gate room.
                            - The Aschen Confederation allies itself with the Der'kal, entering the war against the Alliance and raiding targets of opportunity in Jaffa and Tok'ra space.
                            - Jason Carter and Janus return from a year-long journey around the galaxy, documenting the plights of hundreds of worlds and bringing with them Janus's knowledge of future events.
                            - An expedition sent to locate Atlantis in the Pegasus Galaxy returns, carrying the missing Pandora's Box superweapon.
                            - The Tok'ra prisoner Anise successfully begins to corrupt the jugment and command skills of the Der'kal supreme commander Lor'al, causing her to execute nearly half of the enemy armada's most-brilliant tacticians.
                            - A desperate assault by the remnants of the United Nations fleet, led by Colonel Samantha Carter, drives the Der'kal forces over Earth to retreat, liberating the planet from alien occupation. Pandora's Box is used to aid in the attack, but its continued use claims the life of its operator, General Jack O'Neill.
                            - The Free People of Earth take control of the human homeworld, and are immediately forced into conflict with the Tau'ri resistance movement. Ultimately, the resistance's leaders will be taken into custody for treason, and the two groups merge peacefully.
                            - Danielle Talbot is appointed Chief of State of the interim government.
                            - A temporary ISGC is established in Manhattan, and Col. David Taylor is brought over from the Beta Site to see to its command. New SG teams are put together, including a revamped SG-1 led by Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell.
                            - The Der'kal warmaster Lor'al coerces several Jaffa senators to destroy the Pandora's Box superweapon, throwing the entire Alliance into chaos.
                            - Lor'al murders the Der'kal Exarch in her Tok'ra-influenced insanity, taking on the position herself.
                            - A Nox plan to eradicate most of the Der'kal fleet is successful, and hundreds of enemy ships are destroyed along with the Nox themselves when a supernova obliterates the Velieris system.
                            - Vur'naa is appointed to the position of Der'kal Exarch, becoming the supreme leader of his people.
                            - After months of inaction, the Der'kal fleet is detected to be abandoning its holdings across the galaxy for no apparent reason.
                            - The Tau'ri resistance movement makes one final play to retake power on Earth, but are foiled by ISGC personnel, after which power is officially transferred back to the United Nations.
                            - Vur'naa orders the Der'kal armada to leave the Milky Way for parts unknown, realizing the futility of endless warfare against the Alliance and accepting that his people have lost.
