I think I messed up viewing order, please help me and my weird thinking brain :)

    I think I messed up viewing order, please help me and my weird thinking brain :)

    Hi, I watched stargate SG1 when it was on TV here in the UK, I did miss some episodes and I never watched any of the stargate Atlantis episodes or the last few seasons of SG1 as my teen years yearned to go out to socialise ( what a fool I was!). A few months ago, I needed something new to watch and saw stargate on netflix, so I decided to re live the glory days of P90's and the word "indeed".

    I have 3 episodes of season 8 left, that I expect to finish tomorrow night and start on season 9, but I only recently learned that Atlantis actually coincided with season 8 and onwards, and I have since located a recommended viewing order from various websites.

    The trouble is, I should have started watching Atlantis near the start of season 8, and if I start now, I worry about it revisiting characters that may have been killed off in SG1, but due to the coincide there back alive in atlantes...

    I'm not sure if I should just finish off SG1 completely, watch the arc of truth film, then start on Atlantis.

    Reason behind this thinking is, I know its a different main cast in Atlantis, and I really like to get emotionally attached to characters and don't really wish to start a "relationship" if you will, with a whole new cast only to have to keep switching between them. But at the same time, I don't want to see events from SG1 be in play in Atlantis.

    I'm not really sure if anyone will reply to this, or when a reply might come, but I assume I will be watching season 9 when or if it happens, I can't stop watching as I am pretty much hooked.

    No, you will be fine. There are few crossovers between the two, but watching all of SG-1 and the 2 movies will not really change SGA much at all (if at all).

      Especially since for most of S1 of atlantis they were cut off from SG1. Its only in Letters from Pegasus, and that ep where they were on that gas world where they were all hallucinating about returning home that we really saw any 'SGC' crossover.

        Pretty much.
        There are one or two other eps with crossovers (in SG-1), but without going spoilerish it's hard to say what they are

          Thank you guys!! I was really worried and getting quite angry with myself about this lol but yes, indeed I shall finish off SG1 then start Atlantis!

          Stargate is by far one of the best TV shows ever created!!

            Its not really spoilerish if we give him a rundown of the eps.

            So we already hit the 2 in Series 1.
            Series 2 had Grace under pressure (appearance by Sam)
            Season 3 had the real world (Gen oneill), Mccay and Mrs miller (well it started out on earth at least!), The return 1 and 2 with Oneill and wolsey. And technically also Pegasus project would be during season 3 (as it ran concurrently with season 10 of SG1).
            With Sam being in S4 and Woosley in S5 we technically continually get a cross over on those 2 seasons.

                True, but the PP is more of a sg1 primarily with SGA as back up crossover. The other ones were more SGA primary with SG1 as back up.

                  Personally totally out of sequence and not really caring all that much however it would seem to me that the correct order would be the order in which the media was released because at that time any fan would be eating it up as fast as the episode (including the movies) were debuted.

                    It is a pity there is no official list of viewing order, much like many of the marvel comics have a 'read order' (like with the Onslaught saga, you had to start in comic A, go to comic B and so on)..
