    What defines your Doctor

For every Doctor, there comes a moment when he just "gets it", when he becomes the Doctor. What moment would you choose for each Doctor?

Secondly, what is something so intimately Doctorish that just tells you... this man is the Doctor.
To me, a defining characteristic is the eyes. Those dark looks just tell so much.

For Doctors 3 - 6, I don't have such a moment, because they simply always were the Doctor to me. Those were the ones I grew up watching aged 1-9, either "new" or on re-runs.

Doctors 1 and 2 are basically of a similar ilk, except - well - they weren't showing them on the tv when I was a kid... I only saw them on VHS... and yet, there really never was that "Ahuh" moment for either of them - they also just were.

By the time we got to 7, I was a bit more discerning, and a bit more clued in... buying DWM, etc... But despite that, there never really was ever a feeling of "this guy just doesn't seem right". Somewhat awkward sometimes (Time and the Rani/Paradise Towers) but still the Doctor.

So moving to the more modernish era... For 8, by the time he grabbed that gun and pointed it at himself... he really was the Doctor for me. He wasn't acting like a super hero... He wasn't doing what you might expect someone to do. He was rather amazing.

9 thank god was given the wonderful earth-spinning scene with Rose, which sealed the deal for me. Frankly it was a god-send, cos I didn't know what I'd do if I didn't feel it with him. But he managed to pull it off... though in retrospect, I'm glad he left after 1 season.

I'm not sure what moment defined 10 as the Doctor for me... Probably the "No second chances... I'm that sort of man" line. It actually made me feel like - this is SO not the Doctor! And yet... It was.

For 11, I was underwhelmed by The Eleventh Hour... felt like a load of cheap tricks. Thankfully in The Space Whale (as I'm going to call it cos I can't be bothered looking it up and modern episode names aren't yet etched into my long term memory unlike the first 159 episodes which are burned into my neurons) 11 got down on his knees to look at a glass of water... I like that scene. Totally Doctor-ish.

12 to be honest, hasn't quite pulled it off for me yet... but I'd give him marks for the spiel about his first meeting with the Daleks... and then the bit about humans looking to the sky... Both nice... kind of doctory...

To me, 12's Doctor scene was in Robot Of Sherwood, when he fought Robin Hood with a spoon.
I hope he gets more episodes like that, cause half of Series 8 has been forgettable.
