Doctor Who Conventions and Events

I thought I would start a thread for various Doctor Who events so we can share information, pictures and generally jump up & down with excitement.

I got tickets for the 50th Celebration in November!!!!!!

I'm going on Saturday 23rd with my daughter. Ice Warrior, standard ticket. I couldn't get my hands on a VIP ticket despite sitting at my computer nearly all morning. But never mind. I'm going!!! I already have my hotel booked. I'm so excited!!!

Here are a few pictures I took at the DW Con in Cardiff last year, which was really fun. That's my daughter in the pics BTW, not just some random kid.

Unfortunately I had a memory card failure & lost a lot of pictures.



We were asked not to take any pictures of the cast during the panel. Lots of people did take pic, but I respected their wish & didn't take any.

Damn you Blen! I missed out on the 23rd because I sat for too long waiting for VIP tickets to turn up - which they did a full forty minutes later and were then promptly ALL in someone's cart (wtf?). Not happy.

Still, I'm going on the Sunday now... so I guess I could ensure I watch the 50th when it airs without rushing around...

I'm hoping there will be tickets for screenings of the 50th special on Saturday evening available at some point.

I really don't think 'Crowd Surge' had any idea what the rush would be like...

Yeah I'd like to see the 50th at a cinema... we'll see how that goes...

Also wonder how many other Gateworlders will be popping along to this. I won't be dressing up, but I intend to wear a UNIT t-shirt for the event methinks...

I don't think Crowdsurge were expecting the high demand either. I've had a bit of a trawl of the internet & saw some people had phoned them up. Apparently they were very stressed.

I won't be dressing up either, & haven't the foggiest idea what I'm going to wear. I'll have a look around & what what T shirts I fancy.

I'm hoping the 50th anniversary special will be shown somewhere in a theater near me! I'm in Bakersfield California so anywhere in the Los Angeles area is only a couple hours away! I really hope they will put it on the big screen somewhere near me! Has anyone heard any news on this?

Already done my share of conventions this year (which included my first ever DW convention - photo link 1 - photo link 2), and I'm still crossing my fingers that my regular organizer is going to do another Who event next year. They have a Torchwood one planned, but since I've only watched a couple of episodes of that so far, I'm not as gung ho for that one as I would be for a DW event. But if they do announce one, I'll post a link here
