I had this thought the other day after watching the sg1 series again, why don’t we see more Goa’uld ships, we only ever see 5 or 6 ships max fighting each other in ship battles and there always the new Ha’tak ships, the Goa’uld left earth over 12,000 years ago shouldn’t they have more ships by now,

How long could it possibly take the Goa’uld to build ships, surely no longer than four or five years, and we never see any other capital ships than the Ha’tak, there should be a surplus of Cheops class warships, so why don’t we see them battling with a Ha’tak as a command and control battleship or mixed into main fleets during the Anubis war.

Obsolete or not they would still have been used as cannon fodder or as escorts for the Ha’tak to increase their survivability, so why don’t we see them?
Just a thought

Stargate Program Artificial Island

I was considering the idea of an international stargate command facility built in the middle of the Pacific ocean. It would be constructed using nanites, and imported material from offworld to reduce environmental impacts. It would be large enough to support a self-sufficient city of half a million to three to four million, a space-elevator, ground docking facilities for deadalus, and prometheas class vessels, several f-302 hangers , defensive weapon batteries, various production facilities to be used in support of the gate program, an international airport, and a bay large enough to relocate Atlantis to.

The basic idea of such an island would be an entirely self sufficient location to support, and run the stargate program from; the island itself serving as a location away from any single nation's territory, while serving as a location to test technology before its release to the general public.

Would there be any problems with this idea? Would it adversely effect the environment, and if so would there be a way to prevent it? Is there anyway said idea could be improved?

Hi there all,
I don't seem to recall a time when the actual Dollar amount of the Daedalus-classes construction and outfitting was mentioned.
If you kind and decent fellow fans have to actual figure or the episode where it is mentioned (cause it's been a while since I've seen an SG-1 episode) that would be a great help to me.
Thank you for reading this post.

Defensing Terra and other planets; the best possible ways

This is a rather interesting thought that was brought to my attention recently and I wanted to know what those here in the Gateworld Fleets...

This is a rather interesting thought that was brought to my attention recently and I wanted to know what those here in the Gateworld Fleets thought of this same topic, I'd ask in the thread, but that thread seems a bit dead now. I see it however as a different topic wherein I require input on how to gently hit someone with a cement truck.

In this case, Earth, known from here on as Terra or Tellar, and other planets. Compared to the System Lords, and other races in the galaxy, Tellar was not and is not, very advanced, even in their ship designs. Sure they can mass produce ships if they need to do so. But that does not mean the ships are hyperadvanced to begin with. What this comes down to is technology, even the best and brightest have a limited lifespan. Burning them out on making stuff they'll never see get used because it is so top secret seems like overkill to me.

So I ask

When defending a planet. some people want defense satalites. But these things are not as simple as one assumes. They are not small, maybe the size of a 8 person tent is the barrel of the blasted thing. But they're HUGE. You need crews to man them, even with the most sophisticated internet connections, you need a crew for realtime firing and keeping the defense satalites in proper order. You also need resources. Most defense satalites, as seen in the Halo Series of video games are Massive constructs with crews onboard to oversee their control and also provide training for new recruits.

If you have the man power and the resources and the technology to make even so much as ONE defense satalite, let alone encircle the planet in question {in this case Tellar} Keeping the system fit and constantly running will either ruin the planet without the resources, in this case the money and people to man the things and pay them for manning it. Or worse, the satalites cannot be constructed because the matrials to make the things are in short supply. Thus a complete waste.

So I now ask this new question. If one canot make a space defense system that is to be in orbit, What about on the planet directly ? Its been done in Star Wars and other movies. A planet based defense grid, nothing to worry over sending people into space, just keep them on land, put them in Hawaii or Tasmainia or some place. All you'll need to worry about is airfare to get to the place instead of spaceflight training, which most likely costs millions of dollars. And do not tell me that it is possible to make the defense satalites like we've seen in the shows, Its not possible, Those things are huge.

Don't get me started on the apparent "Long Range" ablity of NORAD's sensors either, even if they are long range according to the show, that's bunk. If they are long range, why have we here on Tellar not yet been contacted by other life by now ? As far as I am aware, NORAD is too far concerned with Tracking Santa every year.

Just my thoughts wanting answers.
