Stargate SG-1 goes into its 8th season and the new doctor, after Janets death, will perhaps be Dr. Brightman. She is a woman and will be played by actress Alisen Down.
Dunno if she is going to play the role of a doc, but it makes sense...

I thought I read in the Season 8 spoilers for one of the episodes that Daniel Jackson and this new doctor were going to spend some up close and personal time while he was recovering from something - maybe the episode with the "epidemic?" The spoilers didn't actually say "SHIP!" but there was a hint of a ship.

Love dogs. Like cats. But 13? There're some issues there, I think . . . :)

You're kidding! There are plenty of men on the show already. There are plenty of decorative men on the show already.

At the moment the only regular female is Sam and the only living recurring female characters are Catherine, last seen in s2, and Sarah. I could probably run out of fingers and toes several times over trying to list all the regular and recurring male characters.

I'd have been well annoyed if they had used the default setting again and given us a male doctor, even if he was as pretty as Lt Grogan or as dishy as Daniel, as devilishly handsome as Ba'al or as statuesque as Raknor, as cute as Major Davis or as well-sculpted as Teal'c ;)

Her character on Mysterious Ways is awesome. I wonder if she'll be playing a similar sort of character. I think it's a bit screwed up how some of you people think that anyone cast in the show who's not middle age is just the producers putting in some eye candy. She's a pretty cool actress and I wouldn't really call her character in Mysterious Ways hot. (The actress is sort of hot. :))

I sincerely wish Janet's replacement "Good Luck".Hard act to follow,IMO!!

As for the age thing,no problems with anyone cast on the Show.I'm 40, so I suppose I count as "Middle-Aged".Doesn't end my usefulness, nor does it end anyone else's, in any context !! :D

I'm not jealous of younger people,either,btw! Just glad I don't have to go through High School, etc, ever again....... ;)
