in your view who's the greatest Sci-fi writer of all time?

    and why?

    Philip K. Dick, of course.

Why? Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

      Isaac Asimov.

For sheer volume of excellent work and inventing the laws of robotics.

I will not even try to answer this question. There are far too many authors producing such excellent work over such a long period of time.

        regards,
        G.

As a massive WHO fan, I have to go with old Herbert...

Some colossal sci-fi concepts (which I have no idea as to whether they were his or reinterpretations, but he certainly put them out there)...

          and lots more!

Mary Shelley, who pretty much re/started the science fiction genre.

              L. Ron Hubbard.

He turned a ****ty scifi book into a scary and dangerous cult.

                  Now this is a question...!

I like so many. I have read a fair few. :: Gulps ::

But I agree with Blencathra on Issac Asimov. For the same reasons.
Then there is Arthur C. Clarke. For his body of work and for coming up with the Clarke Orbit.
How about David Weber. For giving us Honor Harrington.

And let us not forget the Late Ray Bradbury. For all his short stories and The Martian Chronicles.

Team Starfist protects all. But having a fully loaded P-90 helps...
Reality is an illusion... Created by those who cannot handle Stargate...!

To thy own self... Be true
May the odds.... Be ever in your favour..!

There are so many, I couldn't possibly nominate just one. One of my favorites is definitely Alastair Reynolds, for writing stories that stay with you.
