what was the first space Sci-Fi movie you can ever remember seeing

for me it was the 1997 lost in space movie..... although I do have vague memories of an alien monster running around a big dark building so I suspect someone way have let me see part of Alien 3 when I was a toddler

    I think it was '2001 : A Space Odyssey'.
My family went to see it when I was about 9 or 10.

But then again it might have been 'Star Wars' back in 1977.

E.T. I was 10 and had nightmares for two weeks afterwards. I hadn't been exposed to much TV at the time.

First movie that had scifi elements was back to the future the first space adventure was the remake of lost in space, man had been a long time since I watched it but I loved it as a kid!

I’m not sure what my first encounter was, it was probably some cartoon or kids show at some point when I was younger, I do remember seeing “The Jetsons” on Cartoon Network when I was very young so it’s probably that. My first non-kid or animated Sci-Fi movie was Star Wars though, I think I was 11 and they had a SW movie marathon and showed episode 4,5,6 and 1 on TV and I just loved what I saw and after that I was hooked on anything Sci-Fi.

Not sure it would count as a space Scifi movie, but I've got very vague memories of Return of the Jedi, not so much the space bits but the Ewoks.

actually now that I think of it I may have seen the 1965 movie Dr. Who and the Daleks before Lost in space, I certainly hope so any way as it's a much more respectable first encounter

I'm thinking E.T., but I can distinctly remember seeing Flight of the Navigator at the movies. If you count tv mini-series then it was V and that freaky alien lizard baby.
                    IMO always implied.

Then it was likely an episode from The Outer Limits that would have been the first one I saw.

Well, my first memorable sci-fi movie of any sort was probably "Planet of the Apes". "2001: A Space Odyssey" is up there, too. And reruns on TV of old SF films from before I was born; I'm sure I saw my share of those while growing up.

The first Star Wars film had a major impact on me, of course.
