The Muppet Show, seasons 4 and 5. They've already done the first three, but S3 was way back in I think 2008. Come on guys, step on it.
I'm also floored that the first seasons of Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones are not available on BD yet. Come on, HBO, let's get a move on with that.
And in an impossible wish, I want all of the lost Hartnell/Troughton Doctor Who stories to be found and released :(

I've got some of those on VHS tape from back when they were aired on PBS in the 80's.
My usual answer was always Scarecrow & Mrs King but after 25 years they have finally released S1 & 2, unfortunately at 1 season a year that's still 2 more years wait for the whole thing.

"The Six Million Dollar Man", including the pilot.
"Sisters". Just saw Sela Ward the other day and she was discussing winning an Emmy for her role.
"Boardwalk Empire".

Really?! Some of the stories that are currently lost? You should make copies and send them in to the BBC/the Doctor Who Restoration Team so they can get cracking on saving those lost gems :)

Third Watch - They have the first 2 out on dvd but who knows if they'll ever release the remaining 4 seasons.
China Beach - Probably will never happen because I think they are hung up on music rights.

No, he's mistaken, the lost episodes were lost before the 1980's. PBS couldn't have ever broadcast them.

I know the Who era from which they were lost..that doesn't preclude PBS potentially having aired them in the 80s :)

Yes it does, PBS didn't first start showing Dr. Who until 1978, by then the missing episodes had been lost.

I'm a she. :)
I have no idea whether they are the lost ones or not. I haven't watched them in over 20 yrs so I have no idea if the tapes are even any good anymore. But now that I'm thinking about it, I had friends at the time that were much bigger Dr Who fans and I'm sure if PBS had shown any of those episodes they would have contacted someone.
Wow, that's got me reminiscing back to the 80's and my friend Mark built a working life size K9, helping PBS with the pledge drives (and getting to do behind the scenes stuff - not sitting at the boring phone banks), and running the conventions, and meeting the guests behind the scenes (ok that part was not often pleasant - most of those actors were jerks when out of the public eye)

Sorry I called you a "he". Sadly PBS never got to show any of the lost Dr. Who episodes as they were lost long before PBS had the rights to show them, so the BBC couldn't send them copies of tapes that they no longer had. There are some second Doctor episodes that weren't wiped that PBS used to broadcast back then.

Music rights mess up a lot of shows being put on DVD, like WKRP. I heard the first season of Quantum Leap had the original music that it aired with, but not the others. Hopefully the Elivs episode was able to have the music.

It was music rights that killed the release of the 1988 Werewolf TV series, it was all set for release but music rights to a song which couldn't be removed from the sound ended up nixing the release.

Thus they had to insert cheap sucky songs in place of the good stuff. I haven't watched the series since it went to dvd or Netflix, but I remember people being mad about the music changes when it came out on dvd.

It ruined that last ep of S3(?). The music was so pivotal to the story line of AL and Beth. I saw it on a dvd a friend bought - said forget it, I've got it on tape. Sadly since she'd opened it and the discs weren't defective she couldn't return it.
I can't imagine it would cost that much to pay for that song. Surely they would recoup it with the sales of the DVDs. Instead some executive is probably saying he did the right thing since the sales are probably lower than they expected. :(

That's what I heard too. I just hope it doesn't effect any songs Scott Bakula sang in the series like a couple Elvis songs and the one Beatles song which also happen to be on the soundtrack. I guess I will find out when I get around to rewatching all 5 seasons of Quantum Leap on DVD which is next on my rewatch list. It's probably a good thing I have the episodes on VHS too, taped it when SYFY reran it, so if I wanted to compare the music in episodes I would be able to do that.

The copyright stuff only affects the original songs and music they had to pay to outside artists. So anything Scott sang would be owned by the show.

I read somewhere that before the show even ended they said it would never be released because of the music.
But it still plays in syndication, so if you want it I'd say start recording.

Yes and no... If an actor is singing a licensed song, I believe they still have to pay royalties.
That's why you're always hearing people singing 'for s/he's a jolly good fellow' at birthdays on shows instead of 'Happy Birthday'--someone owns it, and they'd have to pay royalties.

Yes, but you're just paying the writers and that's a whole lot cheaper that paying for the perfornance of the song.
They did a episode on Sports Night were one of the characters sang Happy Birthday to the other on air and he got called to the legal dept and informed he had to pay $2000 for doing that. I don't know if that's the actual price or just made up for the show. But writers fees are probably 1/10 maybe even 1/100 or less of the musical performance.

And the give away is this in their FAQ
Some of these DVD's haven't even been released yet. How is it possible that you sell them?
There is a section of the American copyright law known as "The Berne Act" that Clearly states: films unreleased in the United States, including original versions of films altered and/or edited for release in the United States, are NOT protected by American copyright; thus, they are considered public domain. The entire purpose of our website is to provide otherwise unavailable films or television shows to the serious collector.
Doesn't exist. Many years back they may have been able to make this case, but laws were passed in the late 80's and early 90's that works copyrighted in one country apply to all countries. And they made this retroactive. So for something to be public domain now it would have to be at least 75 yrs old and then their are still some laws that allow the renewal of copyrights after that.
