Ok, so I'm pretty sure the big bad guy for the rest of the season will certainly be the Drones. Now I knew I had seen a picture of one of these before, so I scoured joseph mallozzi's blog and found this! Now, I know it's not much to talk about, but its an interesting find. They capture a drone at some point!

Let's hope the drones aren't the new enemy, otherwise hmmmm let's see machines that want to annihalate a race of organic beings? can anyone see some similarities or outright ripoff of another sci fi series?

I thought resurgence was a seriously underwhelming episode and if this is the direction they're heading, then sci fi should put this show out of it's misery!!!

Hell, yeah, they are. I was expecting something at least a couple times the size of a human. Not something the size of a Saint Bernard.

The mgm trailer for 2.0 shows the guys inspecting this thing. Greer touches it and immediately backs away like he's scared of it lol.

I'd imagine these things are just doing the dirty work of someone else. I highly doubt they're a sentient race of machines. I think they're just remote controlled by some dude somewhere. Kind of like our drones over Iraq/Afghanistan are controlled by some flunky in an air conditioned room in Nevada somewhere.

They do look kinda cool up close though!

those don't look like the drones, the ones in the episode rival the size of the shuttle and they are a lot cooler looking and something that size couldn't do much damage to Destiny...right?

Looking at the picture and last night's episode, and the look pretty much the same to me.

Well, when there are a whole bunch of them i'm sure there's a cumulative effect.

Perhaps they'll find the planet that Adama landed on and put him in charge of Destiny. Wouldn't THAT be a trip and a half? lol

I do not think size really matter. Asgard weapon which they lent SG1 an the satelite weapon they both work on was not really that big an neither were all that large, fit a computer an small basic sensor package, communication array, a crystal power source aka EYE RA or ZPM or the Asgard core an some sought field populsion system, we seen them size of a pc tower before an you probably got your yourself a pretty power full weapon system there.

Do not base a threat on it size I say.

Killman is right that is not the same type of drone that attack the Destiny.

It much smaller.

I reckon it is either reconissance drone or drone attach a beacken to the destiny.

I don't get two things about these drones.

1. In the simulation Eli was running on the bridge there appeared to be fewer drones than those that started attacking Destiny. Where did the rest come from? and why were they not depicted in the simulation.

2. When Destiny emerged from the other side of the star, did they not realize the drones had been destroyed in the star? (We clearly see them all explode), Yet they are worried the drones are going to meet up with them again on the other side.

I don't get it....

Why didnt they start firing on the seed ship?

yall see that they by passed it and went straight to Destiny

The above. Destiny is a way bigger and more powerful threat. The drones likely concluded that the seed ship couldn't take them, but Destiny had a shot.

1: indeed that is correct. i believe the simulation showed 8, and the pics show at least 30+.

2: that is correct but there appear to be many many more. it's possible Destiny recognized them as pieces of the Browns ships. yes many were destoyed, but there was also the possibility that more would approach via FTL

Or their sensors showed our ship is armed, the seed ship isn't.

it's possible the Drones recognized it from the previous battle (battle data shared via Subspace link), and decided it was the greater threat

ok well it was too big to put here, so just the link will doI'm guessing this is meant to be the model, rather than an actual scene. According to this (http://josephmallozzi.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/img_6542.jpg), the drones are something like 25 feet long. The model scale fits with the ship shown in the first pic.

where do you get 25 feet long? it says 4' - 5" that is 4 feet 5 inches long lol

That a physical model, which is use as a physical prop for the future scene where they capture one.
Not the CGI models use to attack destiny, which are a different design an are about 25 feet long.

Look at the top you will see three red crystals.

In the drones that attack the ship in resurgence they had 6 red crystals on 2 seperate fins.

Hmmm...machines that want to annihilate organic life...a ripoff of something else...let's see...

Are you referring to:

Colossus and Guardian from "Colossus: The Forbin Project?"
HAL-9000 from 2001?
The alien doomsday device from ST:TOS?
Nomad from ST:TOS?
The Berserkers from Fred Saberhagen's Berserker series?
V'Ger from ST:TMP?
The Terminators?
The Daleks or Cybermen from Doctor Who?
Bender and his "kill all humans" mentality?
The Silicates from Space: Above and Beyond?
The machines from The Matrix Trilogy?
The Borg from ST:TNG, ST:VOY, and ST:ENT?
The Cylons from BSG?
The Replicators from SG-1 and/or SGA?
The Geth and Reapers from Mass Effect?
(any one of the dozens of others I'm leaving out)

Just saying...you need to be more specific on which series you think is being ripped off.

DS9 had the Borg for one episode. You just saw their ships, but they played a role in the pilot.

Since the Cylons were made by humans I think the Geth would be a better comparison. Or the Reavers as they are ships, and also sleeps for thousands of years.

Kind of. The Borg has Sisko overcome with grief that he never got over. When the show started he had a giant chip on his shoulder

Yeah. The opening of the pilot shows Sisko and his family caught in the middle of the Battle of Wolf 359 on the Saratoga. All you saw was the ship, but it's still the Borg.

i don't think they're programmed to kill organic life. since SGU's galaxies are vastly less populated than the Milky Way, i'd say it's a safe bet they're programmed to kill anything that's not them.

remember, this probably isn't some race. i'm thinking two possibilities here:

-either the Blues sent the drones to another galaxy to kill the Browns (likely. also since the Blues have relatively fast intergalactic travel, they could've sent them cause they don't want to be bored for months).

-or the Drones are some relic of another race. that race either built the drones due to some internal conflict or because they believed Drones would be a better way to fight the Browns

Wipe out species, take resources, make more, rinse and repeat.
