    Dark Tower - film adaptation

Is J.J. Abrams eyeing a film adaptation of Dark Tower?

Star Trek director J.J. Abrams and his producing partner, Damon Lindelof (Lost), told IGN.com that they have been working on a film adaptation of Stephen King's classic novel series The Dark Tower, according to a report on MTV.com.

"Damon Lindelof and I talked to Mr. King," Abrams told IGN. "We got the rights for [Dark Tower] as a film. Damon is obviously still on Lost, and we've been working on Star Trek together. As soon as Lost is done, hopefully we'll begin tackling that."

Previously, Lindelof told AMC that he envisions the series on the same scope as Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, possibly even seven movies to match the book series' seven volumes

Bale to star in Abrams's 'Dark Tower'?

Christian Bale's name has emerged in connection with J.J. Abrams's proposed Dark Tower movies.

According to Frost/Nixon actor Michael Sheen, Bale may be playing the role of antihero Roland Deschain in director Abrams's big screen adaptation of Stephen King's fantasy book series.

The one good thing about this is that it might mean Lost will end...
More JJ and friends turning good sci-fi into emo teen action-fests?
Batman Connor's also playing Roland? He's a great actor but geez, find new actors.

Sorry. Not the least bit impressed.

J.J. Abrams May Not Adapt Dark Tower

Considering the hit-or-miss quality of the numerous Stephen King properties to be adapted for TV and film, fans were justifiably excited when it was announced this past summer that J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof, co-creators of Lost, had purchased the rights--for only $19.00!--to produce a film based on King's epic masterpiece The Dark Tower.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the man who resurrected the languishing Star Trek franchise will be bringing The Gunslinger to the silver screen after all.

In a recent interview with MTV News, Abrams said:

"The Dark Tower thing is tricky. It's such an important piece of writing. The truth is that Damon and I are not looking at that right now."
