Orci, Kurtzman adapting 'Locke & Key'?

Star Trek writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have reportedly signed to adapt comic book Locke & Key.

The supernatural comic is written by Joe Hill, illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez and published under IDW.

Kurtzman and Orci have been granted the rights to the property through a production deal with DreamWorks, reports Latino Review.

Locke & Key was nominated for an Eisner Award in 2009 in the category of 'Best Limited Series'.

Kurtzman and Orci are currently at work on a sequel to Star Trek, a film adaptation of the View-Master toy and an update of Hawaii Five-O for CBS.

Don't like this at all (THESE guys making it into a movie). The comic itself, however, is just splendid.

Spielberg plans 'Locke & Key' TV series

Steven Spielberg is reportedly working with Fringe producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci on a television adaptation of the Locke & Key comic series.

First published in 2008, Locke & Key follows three young boys who discover a spooky mansion that can give them special powers and transport them to different worlds.

Kurtzman and Orci will work alongside writer and executive producer Josh Friedman to adapt the comic, according to New York Magazine.

The original series was written by Joe Hill, the son of famous horror writer Stephen King. Dimension originally purchased the television and film rights to the franchise shortly after publication of the first issue.

No network has yet been confirmed for the show, which will be a co-production between 20th Century Fox TV and Spielberg's DreamWorks TV.
