Why have I watched early, pretty much the same reasons as you, I want to see the episode as soon as its available and then watch the show on sky on Wednesday.

Depends who you mean by 'people', most people don't download, and even the ones that do don't follow shows as religiously as people here do. I don't see downloads having much of an effect on ratings, the show airs on a Friday night, so the people who are inclined to download shows and watch them on their computer later probably already do.

Even though I tend to watch episodes on Hulu I still download them. Production companies need to learn the lesson that we will watch shows on our time, not theirs. The age of the captive audience is dying.

Because it's only airing on Sky, and I'm not paying a huge sum of money a year for something I'll only use for one program. They're probably losing a lot of viewers here because of their decision to put it on sky.

I have downloaded Justice but haven't watched it yet. Its not good. I have it here to watch and just can't be bothered yet. Not a good sign for me unfortunately.

Anyway, I like being able to discuss the episodes as the air in the US, rather than be stuck way behind. I don't like being behind XD

Well for me I just can't wait to see what is happening next ( I have to say I read all the spoilers too) ... and by the time it airs in the UK the discussion on the boards is old hat... don't want to miss out being right in the thick of it.
I'll catch it online if I can after it airs in the US ( usually the next morning), still watch it on Sky on Tuesdays and will still buy the DVDs when they come out ( or let hubby give them to me as a present) So no-one looses out. I just hate the enforced wait to accommodate a policy /schedule that does not permit for the show to be broadcast at roughly the same time around the world.

Unfortunately Stargate Universe currently isn't airing in the Netherlands and it seems it won't be doing so for quite a while (even on Itunes it won't be available for months to come). Sad really that us Dutch Stargate fans have to revert to "alternative ways" to view the series :-/.

The same is the case here in (the heart of Europe ;)) Switzerland. I'd love to watch SGU on TV, but can't :( The last rumours I heard, are that the show will air next spring in Germany. Unfortunately, SGU will be dubbed in German :(
To show my support for Stargate I'll buy the DVDs when they become available.

I think that's an optimistic guess. The Atlantis finale aired just recently in Germany - about 10-11 months after the US air date.

Don't get me started on that. If you have heard Lost's Benjamin Linus or BSG's Gaius Baltar you know how a great character can be butchered by a poorly chosen voice actor. I don't want to hear Rush in German.

If SGU ever comes to Swiss-French TV (highly unlikely - they stopped SG1 after about season 6 and never showed Atlantis) I won't watch it anyway. The French dubbing of SG1 was atrocious - Jack was a serious hard man, not one single joke. :S My friends here who had only ever seen the dubbed version couldn't understand why I liked him!

Well, if it is planned to be aired in Germany until March it could also mena, they postpone it. It's not fixed yet.

But back to topic:
I've already watched the new episodes of SGU because I like the show and I was really curious about the design of the Destiny. I really would enjoy an episode where they would explore more of the ship, like they did in Life. Maybe they will in the next episodes, I haven't read the spoilers yet.
