Qi Gong literally translated means "energy work", in other words you use the movements to channel Qi (energy) around your body - it can be used to heal sometimes.
Tai Chi (Qi and Chi are the same thing - energy) means energy strength or weapon, so Tia Chi tends to be martial arts based, the movements being slowed down and sltylised versions of martial arts movements. Both were originated by the Shaolin monks.
