    Sin City 2

Miller talks 'Sin City', '300' sequels

Frank Miller has penned the follow-ups to hit comic book adaptations 300 and Sin City.

The writer, whose new film The Spirit is in cinemas, revealed that the sequel to 300 is being "polished", while work on Sin City 2 is to begin before the second half of 2009.

He said: "The word I have heard is that we are going to get into production in April and I can't wait."

However, Miller was quick to dismiss reports linking Johnny Depp and Rose McGowan with the film, saying: "We haven't started casting."

Sin City 2 script finally complete

Original Sin City star Jaime King has confirmed that Frank Miller has finished his script for the movie’s sequel.

While promoting her new movie My Bloody Valentine 3D, King noted that the movie will consist of adaptations of existing Sin City stories alongside new material created for the film.

The first film appeared in 2005, and King ascribed the delay in part to studio requests for the sequel. Original co-director Robert Rodriguez will be back, but wasn't willing to compromise the unique vision of Miller's hard-boiled universe.

"None of the filmmakers or the actors were willing to sacrifice doing it any other way other than [how] we wanted to do it," King said, adding, "I’m hoping we’ll do it sometime this year. But you know how movies are."

Weinstein Loses Rights To Sin City 2

In the last few years we have only heard rumors relating to a Sin City 2 script that is being written, well one may very well exist but it will NOT be produced by The Weinstein Company.

Troublemaker Studios, Robert Rodriguez's production house will still produce the film.

No official statement on what studio will distribute the film but Universal Studios has been tossed around as a number 1 contender.

The original Sin City was a box office smash raking in over $158 million world wide in box office receipts. The movie was made for under 40 million, combining these two elements creates success.

'Sin City 2' and Weinstein Co.: What's going on?

It's been four years since Robert Rodriguez's Sin City was in theaters, and fans waiting for a sequel grew even more discouraged yesterday, when a report surfaced on IESB.net alleging that the Weinstein Co. (TWC) had lost the rights to release the second installment. But Weinstein Co. lawyer Bert Fields denies the report, telling EW: "TWC's rights to produce sequels to Sin City remain intact as they always have been. Any suggestion to the contrary is complete hogwash."

Still, any concern at Weinstein is understandable, considering two other Frank Miller-inspired films (300 and The Spirit) have come and gone since Sin City (pictured) was released, stealing a bit of the sequel's thunder. A source close to Rodriguez tells EW that the director's next film will most likely not be Sin City 2 but the futuristic crime thriller Nerveracker, but confirms Fields' response, saying of the report of the split with TWC: "It's not true. That's a rumor that's been going around for a while. It's really just a matter of timing, and he hopes to do it with them in the near future."

Angelina Jolie "In Serious Talks" For Sin City 2

Clint Morris at Moviehole reports that “Wanted” star Angelina Jolie is in “serious talks” to star in “Sin City 2.” Morris says, according to a “high-profile producer friend,” that the filmmakers are actively trying to get the actress to commit to the “Sin City” sequel.

Jolie has been long-rumored for the role of Ava Lord in an adaptation of “A Dame to Kill For,” the second installment of Frank Miller’s graphic novel series. The character is a former flame of Dwight McCarthy, played by Clive Owen in the original film. The two ex-lovers cross paths in all the heated, sexy and deadly fashion you’d expect from a gritty noir story.

While nothing is official at this early stage, reports state that Owen is “loosely attached” to reprise his role for “Sin City 2.” “Iron Man 2” star Mickey Rourke’s character Marv actually has a significant role in “A Dame to Kill For,” though there’s still no word on whether or not the actor will return for the film.

Earlier in the week, rumors circulated that The Weinstein Company had lost the rights to “Sin City 2,” though a statement from the studio declared otherwise. Moviehole now indicates that while TWC still has the rights to the franchise, they need to move quickly on “Sin City 2” in order to retain those rights.

So weather Miss Jolie will play a part in the movie or not, we should be hearing something solid on Sin City 2 before much longer

Alexis Bledel Says Sin City 2 is a Prequel

The script for Sin City 2 is a prequel, yet more important, the long awaited script is finished. No word on when production will start.

“I don’t know what their source was,” states Alexis, “but they said they read the second script. … Apparently, I’m back because it’s a prequel. Because I’m supposed to die in the first one. But you don’t see it, so maybe she doesn't.”

It sounds like we will at least get scenes with a prequel vibe to it. We probably will get a segment that adapts Frank Miller's “A Dame to Kill For”.
Director Robert Rodriguez previously said that the Sin City sequel will have elements of the old and new story lines by Miller

Since many if the lead characters died in the first Sin City outing, the prequel route would be a great excuse to get the popular ones back on the big screen.

'Sin City 2' to 'film in 2010'

Producer Stephen L'Heureux has revealed that filming on the Sin City sequel will begin in the latter half of 2010.

L'Heureux said that the follow-up will be based on an original script by Frank Miller, while the first film was adapted from his graphic novels, Mania reports.

He said: "As simple as Sin City seems, it's a very complex scheduling with all these actors and it's a very demanding shoot to be on a sound stage all day long. We have to space it for Frank.

"There's also talk, of course, of Sin City 3."

"As simple as Sin City seems,"

Who in their right mind ever called Sin City simple?
"A society grows great when old men plant trees, the shade of which they know they will never sit in. Good people do things for other people. That's it, the end." -- Penelope Wilton in Ricky Gervais's After Life
