    USS General Hammond? Bad name?

    Wouldn't a ship be named USS George Hammond and not USS General Hammond. There is real-life ship named the USS Abraham Lincoln (note: it is not the USS President Lincoln)

    Well yes, many here in GW thinks that it would be called USAF "Hammond"

        If they were following the convention that the Navy uses for naming ships (like aircraft carriers), then it would be the USS George Hammond.

        The aircraft carrier named after Bush 41 is named the USS George H.W. Bush.

                    Well as my previos post states this should be the name:

                    USAF HAMMOND

                    It would sound strange if the send out a distress call;
                    This is the General Hammond, we need help, we are wenting atmosphere!

                      Flight suit patches have shown that the ships use the prefix USS.

                          I've only ever heard of it referred to at "Earth Ship Prometheus/Odyssey/etc."

                              The thing that bothers me is that they're calling it "USS". First of all, this is an Air Force Vessel and that alone should mean it shouldn't be called USS since that's a Navy designation. Secondly, why is the IOA still allowing the US to field the most advanced space fleet? Why isn't this becoming an earth ship? I actually think it's time the Stargate Franchise came out of the closet and revealed themselves to earth. With the new series happening so far away and almost everything happening off-world, it's time earth was united under one banner and that can't happen as long as it's a secret. It's getting to be too big to still be a secret project.
