Ask Matt
by Matt Roush
Question:
Do you know if Stargate Atlantis is going to have more episodes made? It's been in reruns and has not been around for a couple of weeks now — I'm getting nervous that it's gone! — Christina
Question:
Will there be a ninth season of Stargate SG1? There is a rumor that Richard Dean Anderson has agreed to appear in four episodes' worth of shows (down from six episodes' worth in Season 8). Is there really a chance that the Sci Fi Channel will walk away from the sort of ratings the show has received this year? — Elizabeth
Matt:
The answer is yes to both. These are major hits, and if the buzz surrounding the new version of Battlestar Galactica is matched by reality, Sci Fi may have a winner of a Friday lineup (although it'll never be like it was during the reign of Farscape, sigh). The remainder of the current seasons for both Stargate shows will begin airing in January, and the new seasons will kick off as usual in the summer. And at last report, they were still working out contract deals with the cast members of SG1, so I'm not sure how involved Richard Dean Anderson will be. But the show will go on regardless.
