For example, you could use monitoring tech to measure and control the output of the naquadah, but not for anything else. Or you could use the Tollan phase-shifting device, but nothing else of their technology. The cannons from the Goa'uld death gliders, but not the trageting systems used on the bigger versions which are mounted on their ships. Tretonin, but not a live Goa'uld symbiote.

You can basically create anything you want with it, including other energy-matter converter devices and infinite number of the Wraith virus that creates the spaceship - which you don't really need, since the converter can make the hives directly. You could built an entire civilization with it provided you have enough energy. Hell you could build entire Earth-like planets with it if you first use the energy-matter converter to build a gigantic energy-matter converter in space and then power it with a ZPM or with a star. We could basically seed the entire Universe with Earth clones, meaning that we would never have to worry about overpopulation.

That's the Asgard make any sort of ultra advanced technology you want plot device machine right?

I'm fairly certain that thing would lead to the end of the human race in reasonably short order if it actually existed.

The freshly grown Wraith hive would at least require a significant amount of study and analysis before anyone would be able to bumble their way into glassing a continent with it.

Mainly though I didn't pick the Asgard core because isn't it actually several different devices? Beaming tech to make the objects, the computers to enable beaming tech, and the Asgard database that stores all the race's knowledge and technical specs? It seems like at the very least you're going to need those 3 things to make it work as advertised.

The virus on the other hand is a single microscopic thing that actually makes countless other advanced technologies for you through some inexplicable miracle. It also grows tech that is largely self maintaining and even capable of repairing itself when damaged. We don't even need to understand it fully before we can start using it... and this would be where the accidental glassing of continents part comes in again.
