View Full Version : Time to confess..the "Your TV-sins" thread

Everybody has watched something on TV he/she normally wouldn't have. Something that might even be considered embarrassing.
But talking about it makes it so much easier :D
Don't fear to speak up brothers and sisters and confess your sins.
And of course I will march on and be the first :
- there was a time when I regularly watched "The Bold and the Beautiful" (this is what happens when you work too many nightshifts and just turn on the TV when you wake up)
- once I knew the names for each and every evolutionary step of the Pokemons (that one actually helped at work....the kids loved me back then :D )
- I watched all the 3 Starship Troopers movies
- the first season of Big Brother (really don't know how that happened...honestly)
- several Action movies with unimportant titles that always involved some martial arts fighter rescuing his wife/fiancee/girlfriend
Ok...that is as much as I can bear right now. I think I'll just hang my head in shame :o
So...what are your TV-sins? :D

i also watched big brother season 1 (australian version) hated every minute of it
as for other shows
naruto - i dont know why but i love this show, i wouldnt normally watch anime either
ranma 1.2 - ok like naruto i dont watch anime but this & naruto are the exceptions
power rangers - yeh i still kinda watch them (the old series, not the new crap) so sue me
monk - i usually hate cop shows but this show is kinda funny so i watch it
lexx - yes its sci fi, but doesnst mean i would watch it, its just too wierd, although i have been known to watch an episode here or there (its one of the few sci fi's i dont have on dvd)
wrestling - almost everyone i talk to rolls there eyes when i say im a wrestling fan :(

My TV sins?
I used to watch Hannah Montana, The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody, and That's so Raven. Those are the only embarrassing ones. Everything else, like "Doug" back when it was Nickelodeon's show and not Disney's, and "Recess" and "Pepper Ann" and classic animated Nick ("Rugrats" anyone?), most of which I still watch, isn't all that embarrassing for me. I'll admit to watching Naruto (though i prefer the manga), and Fullmetal Alchemist (same), and Yu-Gi-Oh! (again prefer the manga).
I don't have many guilty pleasures in the way of TV.
The exception being "My Super Sweet 16" on occasion...

- once I knew the names for each and every evolutionary step of the Pokemons (that one actually helped at work....the kids loved me back then :D )
I think I might still be able to if I tried hard enough (although only the original ones)
- the first season of Big Brother (really don't know how that happened...honestly)
I don't want to watch the show, it's just on in my house almost 24/7, they even watch the showtime one; it's torture. At least when they make fun of Stargate I can say "At least I don't watch a show where they do the dishes for 15 minutes."
I've watch a couple of lame Sci-Fi movies while playing computer games.
I sometimes leave the tv on during the lame shows they sometime put on between The Simpsons and Family Guy.
I've left infomercials on because I was too tired to change the channel.
I'll watch a lame TV movie if and only because Lance Henriksen was in it.

There is a small possibility that I watched more than one episode of the A-Team all the way through way back in the 80s because I sort of thought Dirk Benedict was cute. :olol. I watched a whole bunch of them, but of course I was like only 5 ys old at the time. :P:D
And I too watched the first season of Big Brother in the US but not any since. That show needs to die, but then again The Soup over on the E! channel wouldn't have clips to draw from and make fun of. I love The Soup!

The best thing about the A-Team was the "we build a tank out of a jeep, corrugated sheet iron, some handguns and lots of explosives. And if we got time we build a bomber for Murdoch out of the left-overs"
The Hills. I just can't stop watching. I have no excuse
Your sins are forgiven :)
So here is another one. I really liked Lee Majors in my childhood. And sometimes I even watch those old episodes of "The Six Million Dollar Man" and "The Fall Guy".

Some of my TV sins...
Well I have a few TV sins..
I watched a few episodes of Dawson's Creek when it was on. The part where Pacy was having an affair with one of his high school teachers because that almost happened to me in my life but I didn't take advantage of it, and I was kind of envious of the little scrote..
The Bold & The Beautiful.. I love scandal. I still tune in now and then to see what happens.
I LIKE all 3 Starship Trooper movies
I watch re runs of The Six Milion Dollar Man
I used to watch Saved By The Bell and had a crush on the girl with the curly hair that came in mid series I think.
I used to be a regular viewer of MacGyVer

Eugene Brady building a tardis and vanishing. The point of the show was actually to spoof real soap operas so they had every crazy thing that any real soaps (and other shows) had. They did "The Exorcist" and "Close Encounters" and the old amnesia bit, and invisibility, and family murders, and "my uncle is really my dad", and all that stuff. Billy Crystal's character was actually the least funny one on the show.

One thing that strikes me when I watch old shows is how much slower-paced they were. I used to love Simon and Simon but now I can hardly watch it without fast forwarding half of it! :P

When you only have 3 channels to watch in the 70's and 80's you get to see some dodgy shows. And when you were little you watched what your parents watched. Only 1 t.v. in the house, then.

Okay, confession time.
/takes a deep breath
...My roommate got me into watching Desperate Housewives with her.
Aaugh! It doesn't make any sense! I am like.. the resident ultimate geek among my dormmates (there are four of us) and they know. I have SG-1 playing pretty much every night as I do my blog, and they are unfortunate enough that I also watch Star Trek, Fringe, and a good handful of other scifis when they repeat or the like. Not to mention my movie and book collection.
So basically, I have no idea how, but I am like... totally and completely hooked on Desperate Housewives. It's strangely compelling. You're just waiting for something to go horribly, horribly wrong; waiting in stark anticipation for all hell to break loose.. I can't explain it. It's not a bad show by any means, compared to half the stuff out there, I'm just not sure why I'm suddenly into it, lol!

Another of my TV sins....
I often end up watching an episode of Stargate SG1 or Atlantis when it airs on TV.
Even though I have the episode on DVD or video.
You're preaching to choir, hon. :) I do that as well. In fact, I was just recently rewatching Atlantis on my DVDs. AND...I would also watch Atlantis on Universal HD in which the episodes were practically the same ones I was watching on the DVDs. :D
Can never have too much Atlantis. :p

You know it's more common then just you. I have a huge library of stuff but yet if one of my movies is on TV I'll end up watching it on TV rather then the DVD.

Tons of people do that... And often the DVD is heaps better then the broadcast in quality and time (no ads) but I'll end up watching the TV.

I have to agree with you on that.
A good friend of mine watches the soaps here in the UK.
She watches each episode. And then She'll watch the Omnibus editions over the weekend...
She admits that is her 'sin'. She also thinks it's wierd that I don't watch the soaps.
Each to their own is what I say... :) :D

Ooh aye...... I've seen pictures of her she's lovely.
Susan Reid is a bit of a hottie. She does a Sunday morning show on the BBC and likes to flash her curves and bits.

I watch Dr Phil occassionally and I used to watch soap operas when I was a kid. My mom would always have the cbs soaps on when I was little, so I would watch them. When I had to pick a confirmation name(I was Catholic and it's a Catholic sacrament) I chose the name of a soap opera character(I was 12 lol, I really liked the character and the name :P )

Judge Judy lol. She's just so cranky, and the people on the show are always so stupid.

When I was a kid it was General Hospital with McDonald Cary and Days Of Our Lives which seems to have gone on forever and ever. Even longer then Doctor Who I think, or pretty close.

I've watched Tamara Ecclestone: Billion $$ Girl (Channel 5 in the UK) the last few weeks, purely because she's the daughter of the Formula One boss...
