the aincent database is supposed to be really advanced right? then why wouldnt they add a search function. because that is the only reason i can think of as to why thay havent looked up zpms yet translated the instructions on how to make them into english and made one. there has to be a zpm lab somewhere in atlantis with any machines you need to make one all you would need is the raw materials which you could just find on some planet. they must have recorded which planet they get the materials from, if theyer as smart as we all think.

As I've stated before, you can give someone the raw materials and the plans to build a nuclear generator, but without the knowledge to make it work, they'd have nothing. It's quite possible that even McKay hasn't been able to decipher the ZPM instructions.

I don't think that they would want people to find such advanced technology so easily whoever found the repository would have to be somewhat worthy to have even a little bit of information.

so then the aincents would sit there going through terabits of info for what they need... dosent make much sense. they had to have had a search functon. if they needed to they could have just added safe guards... not make the computer imposssible to use

The database was dumbed down for the show, obviously the database would have had a search engine. But the show would be dull if the Atlantis expedition could instantly build any ancient tech they wanted.

TPTB really messed up stargate by giving earth access to vast alien databases, so you shouldn't really think to hard about inconsistency's which defy normal common sense, just sit back and enjoy the show for the brainless entertainment it is and admire the nice explosions and don't think too hard about the plot !!!!

Technically speaking, they will be virtually unbeatable too.

ZPMs will only give them a boost of power and enable systems to always operate systems at 100% everytime. But nothing prevent the shields or beams to be structurally inefficient against a given enemy.

Before losing your calm, just think about a computer. With a powerful and life-long battery, you could operate it anywhere at anytime for nearly anything. Smash the processor to bits... Now your computer and your powerful (still-working) battery are useless because they were not meant to be protected aginst that.

So someone with a sample of our beam or shield tech could devise a way to destroy every 304 (even Odyssey) without a sweat. Sorry guys...

Note: this could work too on Atlantis shield powered by 3 ZPMs. You just need a smart guy.

Yes but with the Ori gone and the Wraith as our current enemy having boosted systems will make us unbeatable. Hermiod said that without a ZPM our systems were severly diminished. So the shield would recieve a great boost with a ZPM, it would give us a mayor advantage over our current enemies.
