i love the show and as i watch it more and more im starting to think i dont know who is better or who would win a war the asgard or the ancients... im only asking because the asgard tech are some what on the same lvl as the ancient so can yall please tell me what yall think thank you

The Ancients would win.

There is no ship in the universe that can survive 5,000 drones shot at it. The Wraith only won because they were essentially infinite as a species. It could similarly be argued that the Ori and Replicators only lost because the writers were afraid to give them properly used drones.

The Asgard, with their much more limited number, could be overwhelmed by sheer force.

Well I'd say the Ancients would win if both races fought at the peak of their civilizations.

Depending what the Ancient are using. If they first have a battle in space with all their warship and the Asgard have the latest tech, the Asgard would win. Their Plasma beam can make the Ancient's most powerful warship, the Aurora Class, unable to fight with a single shot. The ancients shields cannot deflect one shot and the Asgard beams can break to the shield in one shot and make it break in half. And the Asgard shield can resist a lot of drones, especially when equipped with an asgard power generator.

I disagree. We've heard of the Ancients building bigger and more powerful ships to fight the Wraith. Its just that the only ship we've seen is the Aurora. Ancient technology we've seen would allow them to build more powerful vessels, Aurora's are simply their standard warship IMO. There is every indication they could and did have better ships. The Asgard beams have never been seen to be used against Ancient Aurora's only Asuran ones. Joe Mallozzi mentioned in his blog that the Asuran Aurora's were good copies but not the real deal implying Ancient ones are better. The fact that the Ancient Aurora controlled by the Travelers easily dispatched an Asuran Aurora and appeared to suffer no damage (in comparisons to our ships which shields were failing) in BAMSR shows that Lantian Aurora's are indeed superior IMO.

This aside if the Ancients added ZPM's to their Aurora's like they used to I think they'd be quite capable of taking on an Asgard ship with the beam weapons. There's also the fact that Atlantis could likely mow down a fleet of Asgard ships with beam weapons by itself. If you then factor in all the other gadgets the Ancients have e.g. a wealth of knowledge 50 million years old I think its safe to say they defeat the Asgard.

Lets not forget the Asurans, they could set the Asurans on the Asgard. They build faster and if given access to the Ancients best technology they could quickly overwhelm the Asgard. IMO the Ancients abandoned the Asurans because they were planning on wiping out humans to stop the Wraith, they would have no need to implement that strategy therefore it would be safe to use them.

if a fleet of asgard motherships equiped with beam wepons and a fleet of auroras equiped with drones met and engaged in battle then i would say the asgards have the upperhand. due to the fact that the aincents are using a wepon that they only have a set number is a serious mistake. yes their powerfull but the asgard beams are equally powerfull but with unlimited numbers. imo asgard shields could withstand shots from drone wepons because they could withstand quite a few shots from an ori motherships main wepon which is way more powerfull than a single drone. and it is very likely that the asgards have a powersource that rivals a zpm because on more than one ocassion they dialed earth from another galaxy which only a zpm level power source or higher can do. so given that an asgard mothership properly equiped can withstand many drone attacks its only a matter of time untill the aincents run out of drones or the asgard take down the aincents shields with 4 beam shots. then the asgards finish them off with another beam shot. i mean as long as there are equill numbers the asgads will come out on top. and plus in the event the asgard ship is about to loose its shields it can just cloak and recharge its shield then get back into the fight.

you have never seen a ancient ship figth , thus where asurans ship diffrent you can see they can only fire 10 drones at once and a ancient ship like 5000 and it whould not be suprising that ther sheild whould not be as good as a ancient once

an aincent ship isint going to be able to fire 5000 drones at once. its doubtfull that they even have more than 1000 drones toatal. plus managing 5000 drones at once with your mind might be a little dificult. which is yet another weakness in the aincents choice of wepons.

As has been meantioned, you can't use the asuran Version of the Aurora as a means for determining how such a war would go. It is vastly inferior to an Ancient Aurora crewed by Ancients. Who has said that the Aurora was their only warship? They said that they sent their best ships to negotiate with the wraith and that fleet was destroyed in an ambush.

I would say that the Ancients would win quite easily. The Asgard were powerful but not as powerful as the greatest Specie to have ever travelled the stars.

dude have you watch a episode called no mans land in season 3 of atlantis,
that where at least 1000 dronse and they had more and how said that they need a man controlling the drones becous in this episode there was no man who did that zelenka shot them from the bridge
