    Intergalactic bridge speculation

Do you think they will build another or give up on it. I think since they already had all the other gates in place that they would still make use of them.

Are the IOA's powers that be going to rebuild the Midway Station? – Jena

Mallozzi: Not anytime soon. After the events of Midway, they’re having second thoughts. For now, Atlantis will have to rely on the two-and-a-half week ship-bound journey between galaxies.

I've been wondering about this one. In the end of "Search and rescue" we see Carter come through the gate in the SGC with Woolsey waiting for her. So I'm wondering if she was going by midway or what was going on?

She couldn't, seeing as there would be no way to provide enough power for the gate to perform intergalactic travel between Atlantis and the SGC. I also noticed that scene from Search and Rescue. Also, remember that as far as we know, the two gate systems are incompatible with the exception of Atlantis-Earth travel. It has been hinted that the IOA was "hesitant" to rebuild the station. Is it possible they rebuilt a small part of the station, enough to connect the two stargates?

But would they be willing to use it? Remember, the first time we gated to Atlantis, we drained the first ZPM.

That ZPM had been in use for 10,000 years powering the Antartic weapon. Dialing another galazy uses a small part of the ZPM's overall enerf

No it hasn't. It was on Proclarush at the Ancient's outpost. Also, judging by past Atlantis missions, the ZPM's power is depleted quite rapidly.

Same thing. It still had been powering an outpost for a long long long time

Before the Midway station they used it on a regular basis to send mission reports back to Earth (which they are probably back to and so they could've scheduled one to coincide with Carter's departure if they really wanted to conserve power). They also used it to send Beckett's body through the gate, they used it for Weir to come to Earth just so the IOA could talk to her in person, (although they were already using ZPM power to talk back and forth) they used it to send Woolsey back to Earth in Misbegotten, (surely there would've been a lot more cause to make him wait a few weeks than there would've been to make Carter wait) and so on.

Remember, the first time we gated to Atlantis, we drained the first ZPM.
The first ZPM was already nearly depleted when they recovered it and it also was drained when an alternate reality used it to power the Outpost one more time to defend against a single Ori ship.

The Intergalactic Gatebridge, while really cool was really dangerous since there wasn't an iris or a huge military contingent stationed there. If they are going to rebuild it, they'll have to build it much larger than just the gateroom and a couple other rooms. This would be rather pricey and difficult to haul out there or build in parts and attach them a la the International Space station. Being stationed there as military personnel would probably be as exciting as it was guarding the gate in the first SG1 episode, too, so that would be something else to contend with.
