    Stargate question!

You know, you never see anybody go behind the stargate into the wormhole. As in

    DHD lgatel

They go from DHD directly to gate, instead of going around the gate to go into the wormhole. Is their any difference in that?

let me put this as simply as possible, YOU STEP THROUGH THE BACK, YOU DIE.

more complicated, YOU STEP THROUGH THE BACK YOU WILL BE DEMATERIALIZED, aka DIE.

its the event horizon, its like the wormhole is only one way.

If you go through the back of an incoming wormhole a massive search box blocks you.

          If it's outgoing you either:

          a) Step into a wormhole without protection which means you either die, die, die, die slowly, die painfully, die slowly and painfully, or live.

          b) Step through the event horizon, it dematerializes you and transmits you (sorta like stepping through the front backwards).

            c) since the back is translucent just walk through it and nothing happens.

No 'cause before you enter the wormhole the gate dematerilizes you and transmits you. So there has to be a point inside the ring where you get dematerilized if you walk across that point, irrelevent of direction you're travelling, you will be dematerilized and transmited

I disagree with this, if this were the case, it would be the FRONT you could walk through, since light radiation can pass through.

IF the gate allowed people to pass through from back to front, the Ancients would have thought about that when placing their gate in the 'heliopolis' in 'Toment of Tantalus'. The back of the gate was against a wall, not very pleasant if you ran at full speed into the sending gate.

I think it's most likely that if you place your arm through, it's fine, unless:
                the gate disengages
you put all of you through, then there's no coming back.

I mean like if you are on the "back side" of the gate looking towards the event horizon you can see through it.

*edit* In "Prisoners" the prisoners jump into the incoming wormhole and are no more.

yes, from the back side, you can see through, which makes no sense because that means light is coming THORUGH the active stargate, but somehow radio signals go INTO it, even though it's the same kind of radiation, just at different points in the spectrum.

No logic really, but if you could go through the gate backwards, there'd be no point in having the symbols on one side, and the DHD facing one side and leaving the 'back' blank. the back is clearly never used.

Still, we've never seen anyone go through, so you never know...

Light is a particle and a wave. Radio is a certain wave frequency

                        It's quicker, there's no need.

actually that is not completley true. In fact the back of the gate is solid. its like a two way mirror, you can go through one side but the other side is just like a rock wall.

theyre safeguard that the ancient put on the gates, like water cant go through the gate, and you need force to push through the event horizon.
