    Season 5 - General Synopsis [SPOILERS]

    As Stargate Atlantis moves into its fifth action packed season, our team of intrepid explorers continue to face peril and uncertainty from within the vast reaches of the Pegasus Galaxy.

    In the dramatic conclusion of season four, Lt. Colonel John Sheppard (JOE FLANIGAN) finally locates Michael’s secret compound and, with Dr. Rodney McKay (DAVID HEWLETT) and Ronan Dex (JASON MOMOA), races to save a pregnant Teyla (RACHEL LUTTRELL). But the plan backfires and our heroes are caught in a massive explosion that rocks the compound.

    As Season five opens Colonel Samantha Carter (AMANDA TAPPING) mounts a rescue mission to retrieve the missing team. She is then called back to Earth after serving only one year as leader of Atlantis. There is mixed reaction to the appointment of I.O.A. representative Richard Woolsey (ROBERT PICARDO) as her replacement. His bureaucratic background will prove difficult for Sheppard’s maverick style. The brilliant Dr. McKay will face some exceedingly difficult personal challenges while Teyla learns to integrate motherhood with her role as warrior. Ronan’s past will again return to threaten him, and chief medical officer, Jennifer Keller (JEWEL STAITE), will find help from a most unlikely source. A provisional relationship with the Wraith takes a shocking turn and new adversaries will test everyone’s courage and resolve.

    As ever, the Atlantis team must confront its standing enemies, continue to forge new alliances, and delve deeper into the mysterious of the Pegasus Galaxy.

    Id really like to know what those 3 things mean. I would especially like to know what "exceedingly difficult personal challenges" McKay is in for are.

    I hope they are not like when last season the writers promised us darker aspects of McKay's personality but instead got virtually nothing.

      Spoiler:
      The Shrine
      Broken Ties
      The Seed
      Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth or easy...

      ... or that any man can measure the tides and hurricanes he will
      encounter on the strange journey.

      Spoiler:

      2 Cor. 10:3-5
      3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
      4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; )
      5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

        I thought about that but the original post specifically said "challenges" and the episode "The Shrine" only seems like 1 personal challenge.
