        Star Wars (the older ones)
        • The Fith Element
        • Predator
        • Aliens (the second one, the first was more horror, the second more war and the ones after a mis mash)
        • Pitch Black
        • Blade Runner (cult classic, so may not be to your taste)

So many others, let me think
        • I-Robot is a good one.
Joseph Mallozzi -"In the meantime, I'm into season 5 of OZ (where the show takes an unfortunate hairpin turn into "the not so wonderful world of fantasy")"

^^^ Kinda sounds like seasons 9 and 10 of SG-1 to me. Thor, ya got Aspirin?

AGateFan has officially Gone Fishin (with Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c) and is hoping Atlantis does not take that same hairpin turn.

I second the original Star Wars trilogy, 5th Element, Blade Runner and Aliens.

The Abyss is one of my favorite sci-fi movies of all time.

I rewatched the original Star Wars trilogy recently, and personally I think it's really poor. The pacing is all over the place, and by the end I still don't think we know the characters very well. At the end of the first one especially I was just thinking WTF was that?

That long list and no mention of Silent Running or Spaceballs!

              Hmm, some favourites:
              Dark City
              The Matrix
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
              Children of Men
              Gattaca
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
              Alien/Aliens
              Terminator 2
              Serenity
              Star Trek: First Contact
              Blade Runner
              Contact
              Galaxy Quest
Invasion of the Bodysnatchers (1978 version)

And avoid Starship Troopers at all cost. Dreadful movie.

Probably because I've never seen Silent Running And as much as I love Mel Brooks, I've never been able to stand Spaceballs

Well, it's certainly not epic greatness or anything. It's popcorn fare

I'm going to have to disagree with this entire post. 'I Am Legend' was garbage, 'The Omega Man' was far better. And I thought 'Day After Tomorrow' sucked too.

Silent Running is a must see! Great movie.

Loved "The Day After Tomorrow" that movie was actually scary! Not necessarily the suspense sequences themselves, but the whole concept of it.

                          Some of my favourites in no particular order other than the one I think of them in;

The Matrix - but only the first one
                          The Fifth Element
                          Serenity
                          Blade Runner
                          Children of Men
                          Galaxy Quest

Is "Day after Tomorrow" really SF? Whatever the case. I didn't like it.

It has global warming in it so it must be science fiction

Some of my favorite scifi movies are:

                              Terminator 1 & 2
                              Alien, Aliens
