Tapping, Baby and Season 9

SG-1's Tapping Expecting

Amanda Tapping, who stars in the SCI FI Channel's original series Stargate SG-1, is pregnant with her first child, but told SCI FI Wire that she does not want to see her pregnancy written into Lt. Col. Samantha Carter's character arc for a possible season nine. "I don't think that would work for Carter at all," Tapping said in an interview. "It would so change her if she were a mom. I just don't think that she would be back with the Stargate program." Tapping has been married to Alan Kovacs for 10 years.

Tapping, who is due in March, added, "When I got pregnant I kept it very quiet for a long time from the producers and everybody. I wanted to make sure that everything was going to be OK with this pregnancy. I thought, 'Oh God, what if we do come back? I guess it would be Pete's [David DeLuise] baby. But, oh, gee, no.' It just doesn't work on any level for me to have it be part of the story. The perfect thing was that we ended [production on season eight] just as I was starting to really show, and because for most of the last couple of weeks I was playing a different version of Carter it worked out that we could cover it up very well. So now I get to go through the bulk of my pregnancy during the off-season. It's very good timing." Stargate SG-1 will kick off the second half of its eighth season in January 2005.

since Moebius was filmed at the end and it's supposedly AU/time travel that AT was playing Carter from a different time/AU. One that didn't wear tight clothes. Egads I hope Replicarter isn't having Fifth's child! Can replihumans even have children!!??!!

I doubt it. Amanda said that it could hardly be noticed, so I'm guessing we won't notice anything out of the normal. And if we do ... these replicators know too much!

actually, when they tape, the season finale is not taped last.

to use s5 as an example, they taped revelations THEN meridian, even though they aired in the opposite order.

so, chances are, the last thing she taped wasn't moebious, but the second to last eps

Quite right, some shows work on the season finale first and work backwards.

Yeah they often save a minimal special effects episode for the end of production but sometimes the season finale IS the last episode taped. I remember checking that out one time over on that website (rdanderson.com, I think) that has the episodes in production order.

AT mentioned in the article (above) that the last couple of weeks of production she was playing a different version of Carter. I just thought that probably meant the Moebius two-parter as I couldn't imagine they would be filming Citizen Joe for two weeks. But I guess it's possible.

We do know that those guys who visited the set posted on Oct 7th about their visit and that they were filming Moebius. They ended production around Oct.11th (AT made her baby announcement on Oct.12th saying they had just wrapped.)

I don't know - just hope it's not what Tok'ra Hostess suggested!

Ah! Pete's baby! That would be my worst nightmare. Hopefully, like she said, they won't make it part of the story. Although if they did a quick story change and made it Jack's baby, I wouldn't complain. He could retire and stay home with the baby while Sam could stay on the team.

I was rather hopeing that tptb would bring in
Sam's pregnant story line but not Pete's baby!
I would as a shipper like it to be Jack's baby
but add a spin to it, Jack has a marker and
he's been a host to a Tok'ra as Sam has been.
My thoughts about this is how would this affect
a baby from these two people? Would the baby
pick up any thing from Sam and Jack that may
make it "special" in any way?
I'm not a writer in any way shape or form but
i'm sure tptb could spin out something

I do understand Amanda's wishes not to show
her own pregnancy on screen, besides if there
is a s9 Amanda will be in the very late stage
of her pregnancy and should be putting her
feet up!

That sounds like a cool idea to me. There are a lot of possibilities there. I'm sure someone could write a fanfic on it. Cause the odds of it happening are very low. But who knows.

If the Tok'ra had died in Jack then yes, but it didnt so Jack doesnt have any naqahdah in his blood or any protien markers which is why he cannot use Goa'uld technology

If he did however...the baby might have ended up being Harsesis

Now thats a scary thought lol
