:sheppard: I would love to see sheppard loose his sight in season five. All shows go through the motions of blindness, coma, illness, amnesia, and deafness, ect if they are on long enough. I don't want to see Rodney or Teyla, or muscle man Ronin be blinded, like they blinded Telc in sg-1. I would love, love it if season five gave us a blind sheppard, the scenes would be great, besides Joe Flanigan Had temperary blindness in one eye from ice climbing so he'd have somthing to feed off. I'm a huge shep whump fan, yes I know i"m sick, but what do you think? I hope and hope and would love to see it how bout you!!!!!!!;)

:sheppard::sheppard: I would love to see John sheppard blinded in season 5. I have been waiting and waiting for the writers to give me this and I"m hoping they will in season five. All shows go through the motions with blindness, deafness, amnesia, coma, ect... If the show is on long enough they usually do all of the above, but I don't want to see Teyla, Rodney, or Muscle man Ronin be blinded like they did with telc in sg-1. I want to see John blind and since Joe flanigan had temporary blindness in one eye from ice climbing a while back, he'd have somthing to feed off. I'm sick I know, but i'm a huge whump fan and would love love love to see it. What do you think? oH yes if you have read this already sorry I posted under the wrong spot a minute again. Please answer if you can. thanks.

I am also a hard core whumper but I like to see him hurt, beat up, bloody stuff like that. But to blind him is wrong since we can not see what is going on with him unless we do it from his POV but then why bother.

Depends on the circumstances....

A blinded character usually makes for a good character study. So, if he's blinded - why? How will it advance the character? What sort of challenge should he be faced with?

Here are some ideas...

1. My first choice: Sheppard is stranded - alone and blinded - in rough terrain - middle of the forest, fallen into a deep ravine, in a critter-infested swamp, etc. Despite his blindness, he must find a way out, and a way to survive until he gets out (make weapons, find food, etc). For instance - the food aspect - he's hungry, probably can't hunt...so he'd resort to trying to eat vegetation that he can't see...lol...imagine him tasting a leaf, or a berry, or something...thinking it was okay to eat...then later sick to his stomach because whatever he ate was toxic. Stuff like that - even something as simple as finding water - would be a huge challenge and make for a good, tense story with a spattering of humor.

2. My second choice: Pretty much the same as above, only he gets help from an unseen savior. My first choice for this unseen savior would be a Wraith (perhaps Todd, but maybe not...better a Wraith who has heard of this 'Sheppard' and how he has reluctantly aided the Wraith in the recent past). Thing is - the Wraith would keep silent, never saying or doing anything to expose the fact that he was Wraith (just for the fun of it, really - he would be amused by watching how Sheppard reacts to his situation, and would have an air of superiority about himself; he'd be enjoying the control he had over the situation - namely, he knew who HE was, and who Sheppard was - but Shep was totally clueless. A whole power/control thing going on for the Wraith, mainly out of a curious study of human nature). He would offer aid, and help get Shep to safety. In this scenario, I wouldn't want the Wraith to ever reveal who he was, only to get Shep to a safe area, and then disappear. After Shep is rescued, something is found (or left behind purposely by the Wraith) so that Shep knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was a Wraith who saved him. This way, he'll never know if the next Wraith he kills was his savior, or not.

3. Third choice would be very much the same as above, only with Sheppard's savior an unattractive woman. Maybe she's a bit fat, or very plain-looking, or has a scar, or a burn on her face...something that makes her less than perfect. This is a more cliched scenario, but could be fun, and a little touching. Of course, her kindness in helping Sheppard would win him over, and maybe even win his heart. His reaction to seeing her for the first time once his sight is restored would be the make or break point for the character - does he still have affection for her despite her flaw, or is he shallow, giving her the cold shoulder instead?

So, those are some ideas. The first one - the Man Alone scenario - would be my favorite, though.

I'd like any good Shep whump myself, but how about WITH the other team members around for a change? That's the whole point of whump is to see the others' concern!! I feel so cheated the last few seasons with that. Common Ground? Great whump, but on another planet, no team members around, healed by the time they find him. Travelers? Little whump, on another ship, no team members around, only a small cut on the cheek by the time they find him. Outcast? Emo whump, on Earth, only Ronon around, don't mention it again once he is back with the others.

And yes, yes, we are sick....but at least we are in good company!! ;)

I like your ideas das number 2 and 3

I like #2 because this give more credance to the Wraith as not being the "I will eat you human". But, how would the Wraith conmunicate with Sheppard?, sorry right now I can't use my imagination

and I like #3 I like to see Sheppard fall for a woman doesn't look like Larren. Someone who as you describe above.

He wouldn't communicate - it would be almost like scenario of the blind man and the deaf man trying to work together - only instead of being deaf, the Wraith would just be silent (he might grunt or snort, if necessary - no snarling or growling because that would sound too Wraithy). Imagine John's frustration only 'feeling' the Wraith's presence - having to trust whoever this is who's helping him - perhaps talking to himself when the Wraith shows no reaction. A possible scene...

*the Wraith shoves a piece of raw, bloody meat into Sheppard's hand - expecting him to eat it*

Sheppard: "Aah...eww...what is this? Liver?" *sniffs it, and wrinkles his nose in disgust* "Where I come from we kill our food first..."

*Wraith grunts and snatches the meat away*

Sheppard: "Hey, wait! If that's all I'm getting..." *voice trails off and he strains to hear what his companion is doing* "You still there? Hello?" *mumbles under his breath* "Why do I have the feeling I've just discovered Bigfoot...*

*Wraith builds a fire and cooks the meat by throwing it directly into the flames. He waits a little bit, then stabs the blackened meat with a stick, and takes the smoldering lump to Sheppard, sticking it in his face with a grunt*

Sheppard *cautiously feels the hot meat, then finds the stick and takes it from the Wraith who's now forcing it into his hand* : "Ya know...I'm thinking you're not a waiter in real life, are you?" *he takes a bite of the incinerated meat and makes a face* "Agh...or a cook." *Hears the Wraith snort in disgust* "NOT that I'm complaining...just a little cracked peppercorn would be nice...or a creamy bernaise sauce..." *The Wraith snorts again, this time in aggravation as he trudges off. Sheppard listens for a minute until everything falls silent, and shrugs* "Weird guy...if it is a guy. Doesn't smell so much like a guy...smells more like...shampoo..."

~~~~~~
Maybe not a great example - but that sort of idea - where the Wraith has to have great self-control and bite his tongue so that he doesn't give his identity away. For him, it would be a way to perhaps gather intel on the humans, on Atlantis, or on earth. But he knows if he speaks, his voice will give him away. Todd's situation in CG was different - he was extremely weak, and his voice only started to reverb after he began to feed. Usually Wraith have that 'echo' in their voice all the time, so he'd have to remain mute if he doesn't want to give himself away...
No! Whump is not a sickness- it's character development. *nods emphatically*
Agreed I'd love some good whump with the team around to comfort. Especially if the whump is some blindness, 'cause it would be a bit ouchy without a guide, at the very least. ;)
Shep temporarily blind could be interesting, I don't think Shep would do so well with this, the worry that it might be permanent, the helplessness he might feel as he struggles to adjust, the fear of not being able to fly again.... as long as he was put back as he was found, it would be fine.
And I don't believe you about Teh Hair. Not even for such a grand and noble venture as stirring up an entire forum of whumpers would warrant such cruel and vicious sacrilege as to expose the show to a bald Sheppy running through Wraith-infected villages. Thankies! Glad you liked! :) It was fun imagining Shep at the mercy of his unseen companion...not knowing if it was a man or woman at first...lol...could you imagine him feeling the Wraith's long hair and assuming it's a woman... then getting all flirty with him??!
Think about it - Sheppard, emboldened by his blindness, gently stroking the Wraith's long hair, much to the life-sucker's horrified discomfort...
Sheppard : "Wow...great hair...kinda soft. You must spend hours brushing it... *offers the Wraith a coquettish smile* "What do you think of mine? I do it myself..."
And the poor Wraith just frozen, not quite sure what to do except glare at Shep with that 'if you keep this crap up, I'm SO gonna eat you' look...one only the audience sees, while Sheppard still thinks he's chatting up a sweet little peasant gal... lol...
could be a LOT of fun! :p
Thankies! Glad you liked! :) It was fun imagining Shep at the mercy of his unseen companion...not knowing if it was a man or woman at first...lol...could you imagine him feeling the Wraith's long hair and assuming it's a woman... then getting all flirty with him??!
Good idea. Sounds like a plan to me. Maybe a little trim wouldn't hurt too much? ;)
:lol: Anything for a good whump ;) :P
My plan is coming together perfectly.
The Jelgate is indeed devious in his campaign :D :P
:lol: You do know that we will hunt you down to rescue Teh Hair, don't you?
:eek: The Whumpers will gather and across the forum all that will be heard is the war cries of the whumpers :eek:
You are too late. Teh Hair is no more.
As for hunting me down, points to location.
I prefer that location... *saves fighting Jelgate myself :P*
*Hmph* You can't win the war! There are too many of us. When you knock one down, three more jump into the thread ready to do battle. (Unfortunately for me most of them live in the Northern Hemisphere and are fast asleep right now. Hmm.) Yes. Right. Anyway...
:eek: I can hear drumming! Lauriel is summoning all whumpers to her! Soon a great battle will take place and for what.. Teh Hair *TM* :P
...I fear blood will be shed this night :P
Nah. I'm afraid you're mistaken. Teh Hair[tm] is safe. All you've stolen and destroyed is Teh Wig[tm].
And I suppose that is worthless? Once again the Jelgate has failed :P
On the contrary. Teh Wig[tm] is quite valuable. In fact, estimates put its value at around $47,000. Unfortunately, now that jelgate has destroyed it, it's indeed worthless.
Tough luck there, jel. ;)
Am I right in guessing it was worth that much because there were serveral whumpers who wanted their very own Teh Hair even if it was only a copy/wig? :P
*points to FenRiR's sig* Only because I was going to glue it on to a replicator and watch Foxz go into a whacking frenzy. :p
second best to only dean winchester imho :D
but ya got to love the shep whump :D
what is your fav shep whump from seasons 1-3?
Hmm my favorite ep, maybe 38 minutes because it was all shep, but I like echos ( even though John has symptoms first and recovered his hearing first), Course epifany was good too;), and well how could I deny common ground, although I would have prefered the whump with out making him old, can't we have a shep whump w/o him loosing his attractive physique. Say with out him turning into a bug or prematurly aging.
[QUOTE=Listy;7966838]Shep temporarily blind could be interesting, I don't think Shep would do so well with this, the worry that it might be permanent, the helplessness he might feel as he struggles to adjust, the fear of not being able to fly again.... as long as he was put back as he was found, it would be fine.
Yes, I would really like to see some Shep whump with some good old fashioned team comfort.
I TOTALLY AGREE, IT WOULD BE A SUPER EPISODE WHERE SHEP HAD TO RELY ON HIS TEAM TO HELP HIM THROUGH IT, IT COULD BE OFF WORLD, BUT WITH HIS TEAM I THINK WOULD BE BEST. I WANT TO SEE JOHN BLIND, AND NOT RODNEY RONIN, OR TEYLA. :sheppard:;)
I agree having some non uglified whump would be nice. I think it has been done to death now and we need something different.
Blindness just seens a good way to have lots and lots of angst and team comfort !!
Joe m's blog mentioned a major shep whump epi and then hasn't said anything else ecept that it's still floating around. I'd sure love it if we were able to have it sooner rather then later and that maybe it could be a blind John shep whump. I've gathered all the shep whump stories I could find into one place if anybody is interested
http://community.livejournal.com/shepwhumpfinder
but if you have somthing else I'd sure love the addition's. I'm looking for gen or het shep whump, any suggestions or anybody who's bord and wants to write a long blind shep whump fanfic i'd love a post there. :sheppard: always up for more whump!! :cool:
:sheppard: I would love to see sheppard loose his sight in season five. All shows go through the motions of blindness, coma, illness, amnesia, and deafness, ect if they are on long enough. I don't want to see Rodney or Teyla, or muscle man Ronin be blinded, like they blinded Telc in sg-1. I would love, love it if season five gave us a blind sheppard, the scenes would be great, besides Joe Flanigan Had temperary blindness in one eye from ice climbing so he'd have somthing to feed off. I'm a huge shep whump fan, yes I know i"m sick, but what do you think? I hope and hope and would love to see it how bout you!!!!!!!;)
I think... thats overrated.
