(I'm talking real (IDA/MW) replicators, not those ridiculous PG dumbed-down ripoffs)
consider a classic replicator-spider with the following :
- base code is limited to "replicate", nothing else (ie. no preprogrammed weaknesses such as "shut-down" subroutines or the "regroup" command the asgard used to lure them all in one place, etc.). the rest of the code (AI) is entirely devoted to that prime directive
- fully impervious to ARGs (if mere human tech can make ARG-proof replicators, as we've seen on more than 1 occasion (plot hole btw ?) then surely the spiders could achieve this on their own, in fact it's surprising they didn't do so back in s8 (another plot hole ?))
this includes the original ARGs in New Order, the (somehow human-designed) variants, as well as any Dakara-like device
as you can see nothing far-fetched, and the scenario's very much possible (and plausible)
they invade the MW. what would SG's options be ? (aside from mass suicide -)
