And after 25 years the SGC still looks pretty much the same. Only trouble is the uniforms are god-awful ugly. Not to mention pretty badly fitted. That shirt Lorne was wearing was all bunched up across the chest and shoulders and looked liek it was way too tight in the waist.

I thought the uniform had a fascist look to it. Made me wonder exactly what kind of world those guys were living in.

I actually agree. And McKay also said something along the lines of "think what's ahppened here". Of course, that may mean a number of different things, but what if the US is under a totalitarian regime?

I didn't think Earth looked fascist, I think that was just the current military style (futuristic while still trying to keep to tis roots). And by "Think of what's happening here), it sounded to me like McKay was referring to the Milky Way as a whole, not just Earth (my pet theory is that Michael finally found our galaxy and is attacking).

Lol.

I agree.

My only issue with the uniform is that uniforms and fashion for that matter don't exactly advance like that in 25 years. Take wwii uniforms and compare them with modern day uniforms and they look largely the same. I also felt that the rank insignia was stupid.

The cut of the uniform, the insignia and the darkness of it just struck me as fascist looking. There are movies such as V is for Vengeance, and throughout history, where some uniforms had somewhat of a sinister look. That's what was in my brain when I saw the uniform.

You can tell who the bad guys are (or the Oppressed People, if you prefer) because they dress like Nazis. I know it makes things easier on the costume department and gives the audience a subliminal nudge in the right direction, but boy, I wish scifi shows could broaden their horizons a bit. :P

Haven't seen the ep so I can't comment. From the angle of the sitting-down shot the cut of the uniform seemed to lean in a particular direction and some of the comments hear seemed to support that, but the full-on shot looks a little more normal, although not very flattering. ;) The collar's a bit stupid, too.

We've seen him in spandex (when he was pretending to be an EMH), so I can't imagine leather would be that much worse. I think we've suffered worse things on the show. Lucius, for example. :P

Someone should try working on some General Lorne fics. Does he try to sneak out of the office so he can be more hands on, or is he happy riding a desk? Did he decorate the office himself or did he have help from a ladyfriend, perhaps? What else is in there that we didn't see? And how did he get to become the head of the SGC anyway? Beyond it being convenient for the plot of the ep. :P

our rules on manips are:

in a nutshell

don't go putting heads from one body on a different one. Don't go putting Jack and Sam or jack and Daniel or shep and mckay or shep and teyla in bed with each other. DOn't go putting Sam's head on Supergirl's body

Now if you want to manip a FULL LENGTH AND UNCUT PHOTO of lorne into the Oval Office, feel free. If you want to put sam's WHOLE BODY into the poster of supergirl, feel free. If you want to put santa hats or leprechaun vests on the characters, that's fine

The rule of thumb is, don't misrepresent the actors. Amanda's never posed naked, so (ignoring that naked photos are against our PG rule) so putting amanda's head on another womans' body is wrong.

Sam and Jack have never laid in bed together or been in a hot tub together, so don't manip them there.

If you have any questions, grab a mod and ask them their opinion of the manip.

Sam and Jack have never laid in bed together or been in a hot tub together, so don't manip them there. Well, that's a bit contradictory, don't you think? Lorne's never been in the Oval Office, so how is someone putting Jack and Daniel or Jack and Sam(fully dressed, with their own bodies, in poses from the show) together in a hot tub different? Not that I'd put them together in a hot tub or anything...:o

for example:

someone remade the s4 promo pics, taking out sam and putting in weir. No biggie.

Taking caps of season 4 episodes, cutting off sam's head and putting weir's head on sam's body??? bad.

For season five, taking woolsey's head off and replacing it with sam's....equally bad...and moderately disturbing ;

In many cases, it's the meaning of the manips. Since, with photos, the line between actor and character are impossibly blurred, we have a harder stance on it out of respect for the actors.

There's a difference between 'good clean fun' and something that can be seen as insulting or inappropriate. And the mods are the determiners of that qualificationn.

(oh, and for the record, sam and jack in the hot tub....they weren't fully clothed :) )

In any case, unless Kavan does scenes in some show with a leather jacket, just keep your manips off the site and only post a link

Your hatred for anything related to Bush is noted. Your idiocy is also noted. Jeb Bush did a pretty decent job as governor. As for 2000, both Bush and Gore were attempting to rig the election. Bush just happened to have a brother who was governor. ;)

I take it you haven't seen the pics of amanda posing naked wrapped up in the american flag

You posed for what? Wearing how little? Carter I'm appalled. Got any spare copies, by any chance?

you mean the one where she's covered up by the flag and all you see is shoulders and cleavage????

big difference between that and full nudity, which she doesn't do.

Now, back to Lorne's office. The manip policy and politics are topics now for PM's
