    Does Stargate miss the obvious?

During BASMR the wraith ran an Op to steal three ZPM's.

I can understand us being distracted and not getting any ourselves. We did only have two ships there. Those three ZPM's where used in a cloning facility. One in which Sheppard Rammed a Hive ship. The building is trashed, everyone in it killed. I can understand those three points.

The building was partially buried underground, and such an important would have been heavily fortified to resist orbital bombardment. Such that the structure would be able to take quite a bit of punishment. Any explosion would be focused upwards by the ground. While the building and ship are toast bits of technology would survive. large items aren't very likely to survive. ZPM's though are small. if all three where in the same room I would say there is a 30-40% chance at least one of them surviving in tact. If they where in three different area's to power the facility then the odds are much higher.

At the very least there is valuable computer data than could be retrieved. Notes on wraith ships, technology, or even flight logs of their vessels could have value. all one has to do is dig around a bit.

In many cases throughout Atlantis, and SG1 Once something blows up they think there is nothing valuable left in there. Very rarely does something blow up completely though. Pieces are always left behind. sometimes nothing but scrap metal, but every once in a while very valuable tech might be.

Places that the SGC and atlantis need to go back and search. Tollona, Wraith cloning facility, Anibus's strong hold, Taonas, The Tower(though they did strip it already), Shift through the debris at Asura(planet maybe gone but that doesn't mean everything was destroyed). heck the neutronium, and trinimum that the replicators had would be worth going back there by themselves.

When the Trade Center came down, vaults, strong boxes, and other pieces of reinforced steel survived. One should always sift through the debris looking for gems.

probably not a good example to use for making a point like this... among other things in the rubble were human remains. Not to mention that there was molten iron at the base, which was a result of RDX being used on the buildings, which is what brought them down.

I do agree that the team should go back to the cloning facility to look for the ZPMs. It alteast worth a shot and the only known, confirmed location of ZPMs in pegasus. I dont think you'll find any computer data, only because its organic and is more likely to have been damaged during the crash.

As for Asuras, well if you looking for anything other then minerals and ore to mine, your going to be out of luck. Think about it, the explosion blew up the planet. All we saw were large chucks, which are presumably, neutronium... but you have to remember that the heat from the explosion could of changes the neutronium to another material, because of the pressure and heat = a lot of energy.

another place to ad would probably be heliopolis. That great4knowledge device took Teal'cs staff as it were nothing. Even if the building were destroyed in the storm they could find a way to track that device down in the rubble. Even though the stargate was destroyed we now have ships and that planet was one of the closest in the network.

Pressure and heat does not change chemical identity of the substance, it may form different compounds, but it is at most a physical change. You cannot change neutronium into anything else except in a particle accelerator.

        Best Stargate quote:
Sheppard: (yells to McKay) Canadian football is a joke! Celine Dion is overrated! Zelenka is smarter than you are!
        Green is your friend.

While you are both quite correct his point was that Diamonds are made of Carbon. To make a shiny diamond for your wife you take a couple of big blocks of charcoal and with lot's of heat and pressure you compress it down to the size of a little ring.

          Helipolis was another good one.
The people from The Other Side, we know there are survivors who could use help.

Speaking of Heliopolis, they stated that there was a very good chance that the portion that had the secrets to life would survive as it was structurally sound. Now that they have ships, why do they not go check it out? It was STATED that there could still be something there.

In the past Rodney's been able to tell when there's a ZPM nearby hasn't he? Or is that just a plothole.

depending on how long the terraforming project lasts, but yes. even monitorig it from orbit would yield valuable scientific data.
