What are people's favourite/worst Sam hair season or episode?

I'm asking because one of my friends said she didnt like Sam's hair in season 7
and I'd never thought about it.

I've never disliked Sam's hair, and to be honest I've never really paid any attention to her hairstyles. I do like Season 8's hair though.

I've always thought Sam's hair looked fine - except it got a little long in the first half of season 4. I just think AT/Sam looks better with shorter hair - it highlights her eyes.

Season 7 hair seemed to be a little messy and bleached-out for some fans but I didn't think it was too. I really like it in season 8 - it's a good length and color.

My wife who is right at 33 weeks pregnant is looking forward to the birth of our first child (as am I!!) and the pending hair styling appointment that has been promised to her.

She's wanted to get a cut like Sam's . . . but she's finding it hard to pick what season as it seems that each season her style seems to change! She is also a big fan of Doc Fraiser . . . who's hair only got better with time!

Season 8 hair style is the best for Sam ;) except for the dream scene :rolleyes: ..and the "Icon "episode :eek: ..where it was messy but then she was on a dirty mission ..so it's fine . :cool:

Her hair in "New order" when she is in the ship with Teal'c is great ..and the end of "zero hour" when she talks to Jack in the corridor ..she also looks really nice with ear rings on. ;)

the most frustrating thing about s4 hair is that it was just getting past that awkward growout phase when she cut it off.

Personally? i like longer hair and would never have mine as short as hers. But, also admitting that preference, i like s3, early 4 or s8 hair the best

oh my gosh,season 4 when they hacked it off in beneath the surface.it looked great in the under-the-surface-stopping-the-ice-age-as-a-slave-labor-force gig but you go back to real life and esp when she wore that suit in Point of no return her hair was combed back and it looked awful.
I like 1,and 3 the best I guess.

I think I heard somewhere that the really short style in Season 6 was to correct a bad haircut--they had to chop a bunch off. That's my least favorite style, but I think she looks good with just about any hair style (except the alternate universe Sam). Lucky.

Best hair IMO was S6. I think SC/AT looks best with short hair and very little make up, it brings out her beautiful features. l

I think she looks better as a blonde, but it doesn't look like they were trying to make Amanda's character look particularly gorgeous for the Sanctuary ad. I think the dark hair looks cool and I am really looking forward to seeing more.

Sanctuary speculation:

Others have mentioned the possibilities of flashbacks to Helen's past. I can picture Amanda with that long dark hair done up and wearing a Victorian outfit complete with a hat. OOOH!!!

But seriously, aside from giving her false teeth that are crooked and blacked out, I don't see how Amanda could *not* be beautiful - blonde, brunette, redhead - whatever. :)

Oh, that's a really hard question. I think that the short hair really suited her when she was in the acition and part of a close nit team. The long hair makes her look more like a serious leader. Copout answer I know but what ya gonna do?

Interesting question.....I, from a female (who's always had short hair) point of view, prefer her with short hair but I thought I'd get an opinion from a male point of view too, so I asked my husband (older generation male) and my son, younger (20) generation male and both of them big Sam Carter/AT fans and their answer surprised me....I was sure they'd both go for the longer hair but nope as far as Sam was concerned it was short hair all the way for both of them....:sam:

I like both the short and the long hair look on Sam. She is fortunate enough that she can carry both looks quite well.

The short look gives her a more sassy look, and makes her look alot tougher which is what she needs to be when she is out in the field.

The long look is more of a sensual look on her. It softens up her features.

Amanda wanted the change. I think it was a good one because it gives a visual transition that Sam is not going to be the same Sam as in SG1.

I remember watching SG-1 from the beginning, and getting to "Point of View" in season 3 and going "Good God, she's gorgeous!" As a woman who's always worn long hair, I thought Sam looked cute in the early seasons, but that long hair just really struck me. Now, I don't like her with long hair when there's bangs and layers, though, or the really short cut, or the early season 4 cut where it's kind of long and messy. But Amanda looks awesome with just plain long hair, and adorable with the short-but-not-too-short hair of the early seasons.

I've looked over all my 'Carter hairstyles' and I've come up with this. Season 4 and Season 7-9 are the best 'SG-1' styles. As for right now...I love Amanda's longer hair. She said that she wanted it longer so she might be able to dye her hair for Sanctuary instead of using a wig. Either way, Amanda will look great! She's just lucky like that...:sam:

I have long hair, and I prefer long hair on most women. I have always thought short hair can be cute or sophisicated...but longer hair (when taken care of) is beautiful.

That said...I actually prefer Sam with short hair (not counting the 'messy mop' look of early season 9). As soon as I saw the title for this thread I thought, "season 8, especially in Reckoning". I have always been taken aback by how gorgeous RepliCarter is, and a big part of it is the hair.

But I think my preference is because of how the short hair suits the character. Now had you asked AMANDA TAPPING, long or short...I would have said long! ;)

Well when the little thing called a baby decides to grab fistfulls of it and YANK sometimes a mother feels the need to cut that hair. :samanime20: My first child who is a boy wasn't so bad. But my second who is a girl was really strong even as a baby so I just kept my hair up. Couldn't wear jewerly either. At age 2 she was picking up those 2 litres of pop and carring them around the house. She's 4 now and tackle her brother age 8 to the ground with barely a tug. Of course that's what he gets for wrestling with her. :D

For my money she looks absolutely stunning with the dark, long, slightly wavy hair due she has going on in the new show Sanctuary. I know she never really had this due in Sg-1, and in SGA she had long blond hair, but it was only in a pony tail. I did like her hair short through out SG-1. Would be interesting if she tried short dark hair.

Well, I thought I would put in my two cents here. I think my favourite hairstyle for Sam is in the very first episode. The short hair really works (in my opinion) with her facial shape, and really compliments her eye color. I have to say I really didn't like the longer hair look on her, however I am not adverse to the long brown hair she has in her new SC-FI show. Maybe the long PURE blond hair looks to fake to me?? (Especially the hair her alternative universe counterpart sported) Then again, in her time on SGA I still didn't like the longer style of hair she sported, regardless of the color. Hmmmm

Either way, I think the short-styles are her best look :)

I'm a big fan of AT and Samantha Carter but unfortunately there were only a few hair styles of Carter that i liked, for example :season four in the episode 'The Other Side' her hair simply and nice ... but in the episode 'Window of Oportunity' one of my fave episodes but i didn't liked her hair in it ...
