yeah and for all we know it takes 2 hives to create a 3rd one

edit> and if hives grow from seeds at least we'll get to see a new class of wraith : wraith gardeners
(their hairstyle would be different, more similar to that of the nox)

Perhaps the creation has somthing to do with their cloning? I mean weve seen races including the wraith geneticly alter humans and even create completley new life forms such as Michaels Iratis Creatures.
So the wraith could have the ability to geneticly engineer Hive using machine which starts creates the hull and key components then allows the genetics to somewhat grow over it as if it where a skeleton.

i think they plant a kinda organism in a special drydock on a planet and then it takes the nessecary minerals from the soil and grows

See one day a hive ship starts to go through certain physical changes and begins to notice other hive ships. And after a long courting process with NOT GIVING IN TO THEIR THROBBING BIOLOGICAL URGES they get married and decide to make a family.

Thats how hive ships r made. ^.^
