Summary of new TW novels revealed
Almost Perfect"The ninth novel in the bestselling Torchwood range from BBC Books. Emma is 30, single and, frankly, desperate. She woke up this morning with nothing to look forward to but another evening of unsuccessful speed-dating. But now she has a new weapon in her quest for Mr Right. And it's made her almost perfect! Ianto Jones woke up this morning with no memory of last night. He went to work, where he caused amusement, suspicion, and a little bit of jealousy. Because Ianto Jones woke up this morning in the body of a woman! And he's looking just about perfect! And Jack Harkness has always had his doubts about Perfection...."
Is it just me or does it sound like a synopsis of a really bad fanfiction? *lolz* I hope it will be awesome. :p
I guess that this one is going to be a post Exit Wounds story. Look at the cover art in the post above.
Pack Animals"The seventh novel in the bestselling Torchwood range from BBC Books. Shopping for wedding gifts with your fiance is enjoyable, unless like Gwen you witness a Weevil massacre in the shopping centre. A trip to the zoo is a great day out, until a date goes tragically wrong and Ianto is badly injured by stolen alien tech. And Halloween is a day of fun and frights, before unspeakable monsters invade the streets of Cardiff and it's no longer a trick or a treat for the terrified population. Torchwood can control small groups of scavengers, but now someone has given large numbers of predators a season ticket to Earth!"
Skypoint
"The eighth novel in the bestselling Torchwood range from BBC Books. SkyPoint is the latest high-rise addition to the ever-developing Cardiff skyline. It's the most high-tech, avant-garde apartment block in the city. And it's where Rhys Williams is hoping to find a new home for himself and Gwen. When Torchwood discover that residents have been going missing from the tower block, one of the team gets her dream assignment. Soon, SkyPoint's latest newly married tenants are moving in. And Toshiko Sato finally gets to make a home with Owen Harper. Then something comes out of the wall..."

It's either Barnum or Phantom Of The Opera 2 for John Barrowman
"... John Barrowman is mulling the choices to star as either P.T. Barnum in a late-2009 West End revival of the musical Barnum or join the upcoming “Phantom 2”, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sequel to his mega hit, The Phantom of the Opera, which is currently in it’s early stages of development."
source: broadwayworld.com (http://baltimore.broadwayworld.com/viewcolumn.cfm?colid=28063)
"... ‘I’m inclining towards Barnum,’ he [John Barrowman] says. ‘It’ll mean getting back into serious shape, better than ever before. I haven’t been to the gym in seven months, I haven’t had time, I’ve been so busy with work.
But I’d have to do two months’ intensive circus training to do Barnum.’
Circus training brings to mind spangly, tight-fitting clothes, which would show off that rather fine physique to even greater advantage.
‘God, no, I won’t be wearing lycra,’ he exclaims in horror. And then, with a lingering touch on my shoulder and a glint in his eye, ‘Well, I’d be learning all the trapeze stuff and everything…I suppose maybe a pair of cycling shorts…Or they might even give me a leotard…’ "

I was pleased when I first heard this interview last week but still he says it won't be the same... that makes me worry. I can't help it! I am terribly worried. I hate too much change too soon! Although he does seem genuinely surprised by the suggestion of Martha and Mickey, then again maybe his acting is getting better *I mean that in a good way not as an insult* :P

All About Eve: Interview with Eve Myles (http://eclipsemagazine.com/television/all-about-eve-interview-with-torchwood-star-eve-myles/5757) for Eclipse Magazine
excerpts [Exit Wounds spoilers!]:
"Myles is clearly saddened at remembering the filming of that episode. “It was actually filmed on the last day. You’re doing seven months with people and coming to an end it’s always an emotional thing to say goodbye to people - especially when you have to say goodbye to them for good. To do those scenes was very, very hard.”
That’s not to say that Owen (Burn Gorman) and Toshiko (Naoko Mori) didn’t go out with a bang – in more ways than one. There were, Myles says, positives to their departures and she can’t speak too highly of her colleagues.
“They had a incredible exit. They are fabulous characters that will always be remembered. They’re legends. They are wonderful. It’s a very hard thing to say goodbye to people, isn’t it?”
Although no longer in the show, Owen and Toshiko are not forgotten. Myles confirms that the up-coming BBC Radio 4 one-off drama, written specially to coincide with the launch of CERN’s Large Hadron Collider and set around that event, addresses the loss of the two team members."
Looking forward to the radio play. YAY! :D
This part of the interview made me cringe though:
"The others will always be affected by this tragic loss [of Owen and Toshiko], but Myles thinks Gwen will be particularly affected as she’s newer to Torchwood and the constant dangers they face.
“She really grasped onto those two characters,” says Myles. “As far as Jack and Ianto are concerned, they are used to everyone dying young in Torchwood. It’s part of the job.”"
Excuse me?! I got the impression from what we've seen of Jack's reaction in the episode that coping with deaths of people he cares about hasn't got any easier for Jack. As for Ianto's state of mind I would point out the remarkable lack of outward reaction [at least for Ianto - think Cyberwoman or Out of the Rain] that screams to me that Ianto is still kinda in shock when logging out Tosh and Owen from the TW mainframe. But that is just my opinion.

Well as I said earlier John Barrowman is a busy at the moment so maybe he's done a deal like David Tennant did, a few special so he can carry on being a judge in 'Talent' shows ( I guess more people watch those god awful shows so more people will see him than if he made a complete series of Torchwood)

this is just my opinion but John Barrowman is really speading himself all over TV at the moment, judging 'talent' shows, game show host, standing in for Phillip Schofield, guesting on panal game shows taking a guest spot on any show that will have him, I saw him in an advert for a show for an obscure Food channel show talking about his favourite meal, all that takes time and shooting a full series of TW takes 6-9 months, he's got to remember who gave him the break in the first place

If the commission another mini series I think it could work well as a new format. Seems to me Torchwood is very hit/miss with its stand alone episodes but does very well with arc based stories so they should play to their strengths.
Plus a 5 episode story arc would be epic :D

Well I think blaming John for what seems like a BBC/EP decision is well... yeah.:S Nothing I have read from John says he wouldn't do Torchwood for as many eps or years as they want him too. *shrugs* Anyway if it is good enough for Tennant to go off :P why not for Barrowman?
Hmm, so I have to wait for 2009? I am less concerned about this news then I thought I would be; I am also more concerned about the other rumours around characters joining the show then the length of the series. The BBC after all does some of it's best work in the mini-series format.
When do you think the BBC will confirm this stuff? Have they? :S

Outpost Gallifrey's new's page has just confirmed the five-episode arc season and JB in Season 3. :(
I'm thrilled either, but I wonder if the short season has to due with the RTD/Moffat handoff. RTD oversees all three Who related shows doesn't he? If so, the gap can easily be explained by the switch.
While I'm not thrilled at the news, I can see Torchwood working better in smaller forms as well. Moffat's Jekyll was a great 6 episode self-contained arc. 13 episodes would have killed it.

Barrowman to Return to Torchwood Mini-Series
By John Scott Lewinski
June 07, 2008 | 4:19:40
Following up on a report here earlier this week, Torchwood will indeed be returning for a third, but very brief, season with series star John Barrowman (pictured) in command.
But, executive producer Julie Gardner announced that the third season will include just five episodes -- most likely to air all in one week as an event mini-series. In keeping with that event label, Torchwood will graduate up to flagship network BBC1.
Gardner claims the move was made in an attempt to make a huge media splash with the show's third season. The decision to cut down production to just this special event echoes what Torchwood's original inspiration, Doctor Who, is doing on BBC1 in 2009. Who will be taking a partial hiatus, producing a set of specials to air sporadically during the year, before returning for a full series under new showrunner Steven Moffatt in 2010.

season 3 spoilers
The Torchwood Magazine states on its Facebook page:
Torchwood executive producer Julie Gardner has confirmed that a third series of Torchwood will start filming in August. The new series will comprise one continuous story told over five one-hour episodes on BBC1, with episodes by Russell T Davies and other as yet unnamed writers. Though our new issue had just gone to press just before the new series was announced, we got straight on the phone to Julie, who told us:
So RTD stays for season 3
“As you know, plans for a third series have been underway for a long time, and we now have a new producer and a new director in place, as well as brand new scripts all ready to go. It’s the longest and most ambitious story we have ever made, so be prepared for some shocks and surprises! Life at Torchwood is never quiet or easy, and the whole of Captain Jack's world is about to be turned upside down!”
Frankly, I don't know how I feel about that. Hope it will be awesome.

Here's the news from the official Torchwood website that non-UK people can't access:
Julie Gardner has confirmed that a third series of Torchwood has been commissioned and that it will be unlike anything we have seen before!
Not only will the series air on BBC One, Torchwood will have a brand new format. The series will consist of just one continuous story, delivered over 5 consecutive nights.
That's not the only thing that will be new about the series - Torchwood will have a brand new producer, Peter Bennett, who has previously worked on Torchwood and on Doctor Who as well as 'The Mummy', 'A View to a Kill' and 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom'. Euros Lyn will also join the team as Director. Euros has directed several Doctor Who episodes including the 'Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead' two-part story from the current series.
And just to add to the excitement, the show will boast some new arrivals in the cast as well...
Julie Gardner says that she and Russell T Davies "are thrilled to be bringing Torchwood back for a third series. The new series promises to be a gripping and surprising TV event and we're certain the audience will love the team's exciting, roller-coaster adventures."
Production on the new series will start in August.

John Barrowman rocks my world
Excerpt:
I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. And maybe you'll only care if you care about Torchwood. Which you should. So there.
I just had the undiluted pleasure of interviewing that hot piece of actor, John Barrowman aka Captain Jack. I had read that the third season of Torchwood was going to be only five episodes and was wondering why. Well, the reason is the show, which started on BBC3, and then got promoted to BBC2, is now going to BBC1 and they want to start there with a splash and give the move a greater impact. "But if we come back for series four, it will be ten episodes."
So the lucky British will get a week (or Monday-Friday at any rate) of Torchwood in one swoop. We here in the colonies, will get the second season starting in August on Space.
You can read my interview with Barrowman in Saturday's[ June 21] paper, but in the meantime, here are some completely random questions.
What's a common misconception about you?
That I'm overly confident.... That everything always goes my way. It doesn't.
What's the first movie you remember seeing?
The one that pops into my mind is The Junglebook.

Season 3 spoilers
Thanks to tigercheetah who collected season 3 spoilers from various fan reports of Gareth David-Lloyd's appearance in Canada
"Very early audio reports from Gareth's appearance in Canada are just starting to come through. This is what he had to say about series 3, although these early audio reports are not great quality.
1) Filming will start in August.
2 This time around, the cast have recieved all their scripts for the new series in advance, which he was happy about.
3) Series 3 will be aimed at a more "mainstream" audience (this means it will be aimed at a wider audience, not just sci-fi fans) but it will still be a 9pm watershed show and it will still be Torchwood as we recognise it.
4) Series 3 will be one long storyline, which will be "one of the most horrible situations so far" for the team. There will be quite a few emotional scenes throughout.
5) Owen and Tosh have not been forgotten.
6) There will be 2 new characters joining (he didn't say who)
7) Gareth also says that Ianto has "a lot of lines, which is nice" whilst he has a smile on his face and that he also has a few emotional scenes. (Anyone who was worried about Ianto being pushed aside in S3, seem to have little to worry about )"

BBC 1 has just released its synopsis of The Making of Me, the upcoming documentary series with actor John Barrowman and PFLAG executive director Jody Huckaby and his siblings.
"Three celebrities go on a mission to discover the source of their defining trait, talent or characteristic. With the help of scientific testing, the latest psychology techniques, brain science and genetics, they attempt to answer a question that affects everyone – how do nature and nurture shape us?
In the first programme, John Barrowman embarks on a journey of self-discovery to find out the truth about his sexuality. John is a successful actor, musical performer, dancer, singer and TV presenter. For as long as he has been aware of his sexuality, John has been convinced that he was born gay and firmly believes that homosexuality is not a choice. But did nature really mould him or did nurture have a part to play?"
The first episode will air on Thursday 24 July, 9.00-10.00pm on BBC ONE.

More information on season 3 from the new Torchwood magazine
thanks to the silver sun
The five episodes will be broadcast over five nights. It mentions a just screened BBC1 drama, Criminal Justice which has just used that format, running Monday to Friday at 9pm.
Each episode will be an hour long rather than the usual 45 minutes.
It will be broadcast in spring 2009.
It will be getting a post watershed (post 9pm) time slot. Because of BBC1 scheduling (ie they can't move the 10pm news) it's almost a given that it will be the 9-10pm slot that it's given. And that is a pretty good time slot for any show.
RTD is writing the first one, John Fay the second, forth and fifth and James Moran the third.
John Fay has written for soaps, Robin Hood, Clocking Off and some short drama series such as Mobile. The reviews for Mobile (ITV) were good saying he handled both domestic and action scenes well, and the deaths often had a darkly comic edge to them. He sounds like he might be a good writer for them to have on board if Mobile is typical of his writing style.

Season 3 casting info [possible spoilers]
Agyeman Axed From 'Torchwood' Cast?
" Well, now there appears to be more problems as BBC bosses axe former "Doctor Who" companion Freema Agyeman from the season three cast.
The Sun is reporting that after spending the summer writing the five-part story for the third season, "Torchwood" scribes have been forced to go back and re-draft their work to exclude Agyeman's Martha Jones character. What prompted the decision? Apparently, it was the result of a little old-school channel rivalry.
The tabloid claims that Agyeman (who also narrates "Bizarre E.R." for BBC Three) has been axed from the series after accepting a position on a new ITV drama based on the long-running U.S. series, "Law And Order." The new show, "Law And Order: London," has been given a 12-episode green light which is an unusually long commitment for a U.K. series.
ITV has long been considered the BBC's biggest rival and was the first "free" channel to be launched in the UK with broadcast expenses covered by commercial advertising."

spoiler tabgs for possible spoilers
Two things. First, the Sun seem to have somethign against FA, they're also the ones who kept insisting she was fired from DW - which is slightly ridiculuos, cos you don't fire someone and then give them a 5-episodes contract (out of 13) and another 3 for the spin off.
The second, I don't know when she accepted the role. But the scripts have been written ages ago, GDL said all already got them, and shooting series 3 starts in a couple of weeks. In other words, there is no way she confirmed participating in series 3 and then was axed because she accepted a different role - if she accepted the role in L&O and - as it appears, filming clashes - then she couldn't've committed to Torchwood in the first place.
\This smells like rubbish to me.
Thing is, no one ever confirmed FA is going to be in Torchwood series 3. All the info about it had been rumours - and granted, the ending of Jounrey's End seemed to suggest that, but still the BBC never said anything. I did raise an eyebrow when it was anounced she'd be in L&O because fo teh apparent schedule clash. I'd say either she never committed to Torchwood in the first place or she's got a Tardis and can appear in both :))

There was a little news at the “Torchwood” panel, which immediately followed the “Doctor Who” one. Star John Barrowman, who plays Captain Jack Harkness, appeared with fellow cast members Gareth David-Lloyd (who plays Ianto) and Naoko Mori (Toshiko), as well as Gardner.
This is a show that has a lot of flirty, slightly outrageous banter, and the panel didn’t disappoint in that department either. There were a lot of saucy references to the relationship between Ianto and Captain Jack, and the audience also loved the clips from an episode featuring Captain Jack with his nemesis and former lover, Captain John Hart (James Marsters).

Afternoon Play: Torchwood: Lost Souls
2.15pm, Wednesday 10 September
"Somewhere out there in that chaos of darkness and light, of science and protons, of gods and stars and death... somewhere there's an answer."
The Torchwood Institute was founded by Queen Victoria in 1879 to protect the British Empire against the threat of alien invasion. By 2008, all that remains of the organisation is a small team based in Cardiff. And now, following the tragic deaths of two of their colleagues, the remaining three – Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones – have to protect the human race against another unknown force from the darkness.
Martha Jones, ex-time traveller and now working as a doctor for a UN task force, has been called to CERN – the world's largest particle physics laboratory in Geneva – where they're about to activate the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
The LHC is a particle accelerator which has been built deep underground in a 27km tunnel under Switzerland and France. Once activated the collider will fire beams of protons together recreating conditions a billionth of a second after the Big Bang – and potentially allowing the human race a greater insight into what the Universe is made of.
But so much could go wrong – it could open a gateway to a parallel dimension, or create a black hole – and now voices from the past are calling out to people and scientists have started to disappear...
Where have the missing scientists gone? What is the secret of the glowing man? What is lurking in the underground tunnel? And do the dead ever really stay dead?
Torchwood is a spin-off from the award-winning BBC Wales TV production Torchwood. Written by Joseph Lidster, it stars John Barrowman, Freema Agyeman, Eve Myles, Gareth David-Lloyd, Lucy Montgomery (of Tittybangbang) and Stephen Critchlow.

Some more news on season 3.
Russell T Davies has revealed the title of Torchwood series three's five part story is Torchwood: Children Of Earth. (Pitry posted this news above)
It is unknown at the moment whether each episode will have its own title or each will be named as parts. The story promises to be as epic as ever, rumour has it that it it continuing the ideas started in the Sleeper episode. Euros Lyn will be directing all five parts of Torchwood: Children Of Earth!
The story will broadcast over one week in Spring 2009. Filming for the series starts later this month with principal photography starting on the 18th of August!

SEASON 3 info
Torchwood and Tardis Treasures blog has a few season 3 filming photos (http://tardis-and-torchwood-treasures.blogspot.com/2008/08/torchwood-series-3-filming-photos.html).
No real spoilers: just Eve Myles, Kai Owen and one of the guest stars Paul Copley
(I loved him as Matthews in Hornblower series :))
More s3 spoilers:
"Filming of Torchwood's shortened season three started up, with actor Paul Copley (Coronation Street) joining the cast. So far, there are just a few photos of Eve Myles wearing her usual outfit. But fans report they've seen Noel Clark (Mickey) on set with John Barrowman. There's also a scene where Rhys steals this guy's laptop, while Gwen keeps him distracted. There was a lot of filming at the Coal Exchange, a gorgeous old abandoned building."

The new season of 'Torchwood' approaches, plus 'Mad Men' makes a mistake
I thought I'd take a break from this week's "All 'American Idol,' all the time" posts to return to your regularly scheduled geek update.
BBC America sent out a press release announcing that the third season of "Torchwood" has begun filming (the full release is at the end of this item). Nothing that spectacular about that -- though I do very much want "Torchwood" to return, and "Doctor Who" as well. But one fun fact about the press release caught my eye.
Peter Capaldi has a role in the new season of "Torchwood," which will consist of five highly serialized outings. Capaldi plays Mr. Frobisher, "a civil servant who is hiding a terrible secret."

excerpt :
[SPOILERS]
"Daily Dragon: What was it like playing Ianto on Doctor Who as opposed to Torchwood?
GDL: It’s a slightly different show because [Doctor Who] is more family orientated, so I suppose the performances were heightened and more youngster friendly. But we were still in the Torchwood hub, and it was still John, and it was still Eve. We’re so used to the crew, but I don’t think we’ll ever get used to losing Tosh and Owen. But it did feel like Torchwood, and it felt like a mini-episode.
DD: Speaking of the change in the team dynamic, what do you think about that?
GDL: It’s hard. I mean, I’m confident in John Barrowman’s skills to welcome everybody with open arms and to, well, to scare them a bit. But I’m sure it’ll be cast wisely, and it’ll be a new family like we were."

Dr Who/Torchwood special for Children in need?
"Are Doctor Who and its spin-off coming together in the name of charity?
Last year for Children in Need, the Doctor Who team brought Peter Davison back to the Tardis for a short but very welcome Steven Moffat-scripted episode, set between seasons three and four. And this year, it seems that they’ve got more up their sleeve.
For it seems that the plan is to put together a special episode that would bring together Doctor Who and Torchwood. This is according to the new edition of the Torchwood magazine, and while no further details have been forthcoming thus far, it’s almost certain – given the success of last year’s special – that something will be prepared for Children In Need. Expect official confirmation shortly."

Torchwood filming in London
"Filming on Torchwood's shortened third season - titled "Children of Earth" - continues in Cardiff, before moving to London later in the year, according to the news section of the latest Torchwood Magazine. Inside issue 9 we're told that, despite being only 5 episodes long, the arc will form the most expensive story ever attempted by the team at Upper Boat studios.
Torchwood has never filmed outside of Wales before - although several Doctor Who episodes ("Rose", "Aliens of London", "The Shakespeare Code") have had footage shot in London; although most of the time, Cardiff is 'dressed' to have the appearence of the English capital.
Says Russell T Davies, "As the title suggests, Children of Earth will see the Torchwood team face a crisis of global proportions, so it makes perfect sense that Torchwood should be crossing national borders. But the story is still rooted firmly in Cardiff, and the team will always call it home." It's been suggested one possibly reason for filming in London rather than merely set dressing Cardiff is [POSSIBLE SPOILERS!] accomodate both Freema Agyeman and Noel Clarke for block two - episodes 4/5 - as they're busy in the city recording other material, like Law & Order: London."

There's no equal translation of "CSI" to Czech and the structure of Police force here is a little different than in the US. But we have SKPV (Service [Force] of Criminal Police and Investigation) here which is similar. So all the CSI shows here are translated as "kriminalka" which is colloquial for SKPV. (Kriminalka:Las Vegas, Kriminalka:Miami, Kriminalka:New York and the latest .... Kriminalka:Andel )
To answer your question there's a lot of flashiness to be sure but not in the way you might suspect ;) [They use the ridiculous flashes between the scenes just like CSI:Miami does] :p but the concept is the same as in all other CSIs. There is a murder and the following investigation showing all the shiny new [or old] methods of investigation.

appetizer:
"Earlier in the book, Davies also discusses his aborted plans to write Torchwood 2.1....
He goes on, " The truth is, I wasn't not-writing because I couldn't think of anything, but because I'm sick of fixing other people's problems. I sat there at 4am and thought: what am I getting out of this? Nothing. Just misery. So sod it, I'm off."
To put that quote into some form of context, Davies had been deseperately trying to write the Torchwood script for almost two months, and the process was evidently making him quite distraught. One gets the feeling that he wanted to write the series opener as a means of 'fixing' the show after its bumpy first series... ("Torchwood's failure of voice... which is my fault, I suppose, though they're all working hard to fix it for Series Two")
"That was severe. First time I've ever done that," Davies decides, "As a result, I'm quite cheery again. Nightmare welcome-back-to-Cardiff dinner with the Torchwood cast tonight, just when I feel I've abandoned them. (I haven't. I'll try to script-edit more.) Eve Myles got drunk, which was lively. Gareth David-Lloyd is just the sexiest bast**d on this Earth. And Johnny Barrowman regaled us with how many Joseph's he'd like to sleep with, so it was a bit of a laugh. The panic has abated."
Episode 2.1 ultimately turned into "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang", written by Chris Chibnall and introducing James Marsters as Captain John Hart.

Season 3 spoilers from "Torchwood Archives" BBC book [thanks to lucy-locket]
"Well, people asked for the spoilery parts of The Torchwood Archives by Warren Martyn, so here they are! It's like a part of the Captain's Blog, only in this book it's called the 'Ongoing Archive Notes', written and signed by Jack. The other parts are the Captain's Blog entries that we've already seen on the BBC American website, but the last one is new (I think, it's new to me anyway). So here it is."
Lucy
excerpt from the book:
Ongoing Archive Notes
Alien Activity: Weevils, in a nightclub. Probably a hangover from Gray's...meddling.
Rift Activity: Very quiet at the moment, which is good.
Security: Ianto found out that Tosh had been working on a new system to lock the Hub down without actually plunging us into darkness and inactivity. Apparently, she called it a Time Lock, and what it basically does is freezes everything outside the main Hub area to about fifty metres by locking it in time. Course, we can't get out - we'd be caught in its field - but she had gone beyond the theoretical, Ianto thinks. Certainly, there's evidence amongst her stuff that she's performed some controlled experiments within the Vaults. If only she could have got it working properly. Useful next time a horde of rampaging vampires or angry Krillup mothers start hammering on our door.
Other Security Issues: There's a few people around Cardiff starting to talk openly about Torchwood. We've always been 'public' in the sense of our presence, but now after Weevils, Hoix, etc, people are starting to put two and two together. There's a guy from the school computer club called, apparently, SilverClaw who seems to know about us. And a young medic at a hospital, a Dr Patanjali. And at the council offices Lillian Cartwright has been asking questions on the staff intranet. And I gather Gwen keeps getting asked questions by Andy Davidson. Might be an idea to divert these people's lines of inquiry. Or Retcon them.
Staff: We still miss Owen and Tosh. Gwen especially. I'd like to think over the years I've gotten used to seeing people come and go in my life. But I haven't.
Other Staff Issues: I wonder if it's time to catch up with some old friends. Haven't seen Martha since the funeral. And Mickey Smith's back in town. Smith & Jones. Nah, never catch on.

New TW Books
Three new Torchwood books have been confirmed for release in May 2009. Plot details under spoilers.
Into the Silence by Sarah Pinborough
The body in the church hall is very definitely dead. It has been sliced open with surgical precision, its organs exposed, and its vocal cords are gone. It is as if they were never there or they've been dissolved...
With the Welsh amateur Operatic Contest getting under way, music is filling the churches and concert halls of Cardiff. The competition has attracted the finest Welsh talent to the city, but it has also drawn something else - there are stories of a metallic creature hiding in the shadows. Torchwood are on its tail, but it's moving too fast for them to track it down. This new threat requires a new tactic - so Ianto Jones is joining a male voice choir...
Bay of the Dead by Mark Morris
When the city sleeps, the dead start to walk...
Something has sealed off Cardiff, and living corpse are stalking the streets, leaving a trail of half-eaten bodies. Animals are butchered. A young coupe in their car never reach home. A stolen tugboat is brought back to shore, carrying only human remains. And a couple of girls heading back from the pub watch the mysterious drivers of a big black SUV take over a crime scene. Torchwood have to deal with the intangible barrier surrounding Cardiff, and some unidentified space debris that seems to be regenerating itself. Plus, of course, the all-night zombie horror show. Not that they really believe in zombies.
The House that Jack Built by Guy Adams
Jackson Leaves - an Edwardian house in Penylen, built 1906, semi-detached, three storeys, spacious, beautifully presented. Left in good condition to Rob and Julia by Rob's late aunt. It's an ordinary sort of a house. Except for the way the rooms don't stay in the same places. And the strange man that turns up in the airing cupboard. And the apparitions. And the temporal surges that attract the attentions of Torchwood. And the fact that the first owner of Jackson Leaves in 1906 was a Captain Jack Harkness...

Digital Spy has A quickie with John Barrowman (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/a136046/a-quickie-with-john-barrowman.html).
season 3 spoilers [nah, not really - John you calling these teasers?! *shakes head*] :p
What can you tell us about the new series of Torchwood?
"It's five episodes stripped from Monday to Friday and we're moving to BBC One. The reason we're doing only five episodes is because we need to make an impact on One. If we were to do an entire series, the show might kinda float around and not really be recognised."
Any teasers on what might happen in the new episodes?
"Well, you'll find out more about Jack's dark past and a lot about Gwen too. There's going to be some deaths, some new faces, some surprises and an event that will almost destroy the world. There's also going to be a shocking event instigated by Jack that people will be totally floored by."
EDIT:
Snippets about series 3 from Torchwood Magazine by Director Euros Lyn
""Torchwood: Children Of Earth is about how human beings behave when they are faced with an unstoppable force; something so much bigger than they are. Some of them turn out to be heroes, and some of them turn out to be ****s. I think that describes one of the dominant themes of this series. Also the love story between Captain Jack and Ianto continues to unfold, as does the story of married life for Gwen and Rhys, as Rhys's character comes into play a lot more almost by accident.
"Episode one is about the team becoming suddenly fragmented and episode two is much more of a spy thriller as they go their seperate ways. Episode three introduces the alien threat in a big way and episode four is a huge political drama about the wider repercussions. Episode five of course as everything, and is a race to save humanity, but then what did you expect!"" .

2009 TV Preview: 'Torchwood' returns
Tuesday, December 16 2008, 19:00 GMT
By Neil Wilkes, Editor
Torchwood is back - and this time they're mixing it up.
As you'll no doubt be aware, the third series brings with it some mighty changes. Not only has the show been upgraded from BBC Two to primetime BBC One, but for the first time the team will contend with one major storyline over the course of the series. The run has been shortened from 13 to just five episodes, but in a major gift to fans the entire series will be stripped across five consecutive days.
That's not to mention a few casting changes too! Torchwood producer Peter Bennett gives us a preview of what else series three - codenamed Torchwood: Children of Earth - has in store.
The title for this series is somewhat intriguing. What does it mean?
"Basically from a concept, we wanted to go down the children dilemma route. Because this storyline is a subject that's going to affect all the children of Earth, it was a natural title to come up with."
What's the plotline of this series?
"It's different to every other year. It's not a story about spaceships, but it's about a government that did a deal with aliens back in the '60s, and they're now dealing with the consequences of that deal when the sins of their past come back to haunt them."
What was the thinking behind switching to doing a five-episode serial?
"Having done 26 standalone stories, we kind of wanted to take this series to another level and by making it one story over five nights, we feel we've done that. It's big, it's epic, and it's very different."
It's also changed channels. How has the move to BBC One affected the tone of the show?
"Taking over a week of primetime BBC One is a big responsibility, and something none of us have done before. So we had to approach everything differently, from the way we storylined the series, to the scripting and filming, then right through to the editing. The script has a big cliffhanger and a few unexpected twists along the way. Telling one story has also given us the opportunity to have one director across the whole series, Euros Lyn, who's been incredible and taken the show to a new level."
It's been previously remarked that this new format represents a "resetting" of the show. Is that accurate?
"I guess so. This series takes Torchwood on a much darker journey, but it's still Torchwood. It's exciting, action-packed, and we've still got a lot of fun running through it."
At the end of series two we lost two of the regular cast, Owen and Tosh. How much are they missed?
"On set Burn and Naoko are missed, because they were a terrific part of the team socially and for morale. As far as the storylines are concerned, it's allowed us to see a whole new side of what's left of our regular characters and learn a whole lot more about their lives. Also we've got new characters, people like Peter Capaldi, who's fantastic as the government middle man caught up in the storm, Liz May Brice as a covert government agent and Paul Copely as a damaged man."
And are there any direct additions to the Torchwood team?
"We sort of bring in Gwen's husband Rhys (Kai Owen). He was always on the fringes anyway but he takes a much more active part in the storyline now. And we've got a new young lady who helps the team - I wouldn't say she's part of the team but she kind of helps them out. She's played by a new actress called Cush Jumbo, who's a very pretty young lady and who I'm sure is going to go on to bigger things."
John Barrowman has previously hinted that he might quit the show after this series. Do you think that's true? What do you think Torchwood would be like without Captain Jack?
"I think it would be very difficult without John. I've not heard him say he wouldn't want to stick around after a third series, so I'm not sure where that's come from. But he certainly never mentioned it to us or on set. It wouldn't be the same without him obviously. Captain Jack is a star in his own right!"
Are there individual episode titles on this series?
"No, it's just the one main title running through this year."
Who do you have writing this series?
"We've got James Moran, who wrote for the last series of Torchwood, and we've got a guy called John Fay who previously wrote all sorts of things. Russell was a fan of his, so he's come and written episode two, which is brilliant. Russell did one, John did two, James did three and then Russell did four and five."
Are you nervous about how the audience will take to the new format?
"Yes, of course. It's something none of us has done before so we're all a bit nervous of it. I've got the bonus of having seen the material we've shot and I can assure you, we've got some absolutely fantastic material with some amazing acting. It's stunning and I would defy anybody not to be impressed by it."
Where are you at with production on the series right now?
"We've just started our second week of post editing and we're in a position to have a look at our first episode. We've just shown our executive producers the first cut version of the first episode and this week we're hoping to show them the first cut of the second episode. It's a very very tough post schedule. We've only got one director, but we've got three cutting rooms running simultaneously and he's literally running between all three. We have to deliver the whole thing, with all effects and music, by March. So to do five one-hours is a real tough schedule, particularly because we've got so much amazing material. I'd guess we're two thirds of the way through and the last third is a struggle - but a nice struggle."

Totally. I wish that had an e-mail notification thing.
I was doing some thinking, and all things considered, it's really not that bad. Given what I usually pay for the SG cons that don't include photos and all that, it's probably all about the same. Eep! A little something from Digital Spy and it's something I totally disagree( content wise, that is series.) with as a fan and someone who lives in the states.
John Barrowman has revealed that Torchwood's Stateside popularity has led to the third season being toned down.
The Captain Jack Harkness actor told The People: "We're not swearing or doing anything close to the bone because it's been a huge success in the US and the networks won't accept it with all that stuff in it."
"We're doing everything so it doesn't have to be heavily edited for the US," Barrowman claimed, before adding: "I'll still be getting naked and it will still be saucy - but it's done with taste."

In my opinion, everything should remain the same as it was.

It's a shame that the edge is being taken off because of US sensibilities. Would it not be feasible - if the US$ is that important, which I accept it probably is - to record two takes of the more sweary bits? It would probably only involve one or two extra shots per episode.

Or is nekkid men flesh just too hot for the US? Hang on how does Californication keep it's odd self on the air? I mean BBC, in the US, is cable right?
Torchwood was suppose to be "adult" but what they want to kiddie it up now? Like Who?
I find it all too confusing. :S
Also, if Torchwood in the US with the edits included is getting great ratings, why do they want to mess about with it? And, lets be honest, I think it won't be long until many US viewers are not going to be watching it direct on TV *if you know what I mean* so really, this seems odd and wrong to me.

Actually, Torchwood should be odd and wrong, but American conservatism looks to interfere with that premise.
I love the jagged edge between British/Australian views on sex and violence and the American view. I've been told it comes down to the US being much more religious than the UK and Australia, though recent reports suggest a drop in believers by about 6.5% per decade in the US. So maybe in another 20 years the USA might actually accept Torchwood for what it really is.

Oh come on. Gwen's 'action' has been part of an illicit affair that failed, and marriage. None of which was seen. But so far we've had Jack and Ianto disapear off with a stop watch. Muchos Jack/Ianto kissing. Jack asking Ianto on a date. Jack requesting Iantos 'local area knowledge'. Gwen walking in on half naked Jack and Ianto. Martha asking Ianto how Jack is - answer 'imaginitative'. I think there's been a fair bit of Jack/Ianto.

I do not want a "tamed" Capt Jack as that wouldn't be Torchwood, it would barely be a Doctor Who's version.
If you don't like Jack/Ianto and thier banter, don't watch, killing the show with censorship is just wrong.
I hope this change is something we don't notice so much but I fear it will be noticeable, I fear it will make Torchwood just another drama with nothing different about it. I fear Torchwood will turn into something as mainstream as Supernatural.

The US edits have actually been quite minor (except Adam for some reason). Mostly just a few seconds of "shoe leather" here and there. We got the full hot house scene when it aired and everything else, too. So, I'm not sure what they're going on about with taming it for the US audience, we don't seem to have any problems with it. :)

One thing that confuses me, if we are only getting 5 episodes and they are screening in one week... when on earth do we get a proper series of Torchwood again? :( Or don't we?
I don't know if I can stand this, less Doctor Who and less Torchwood all in the same year. I thought I could handle it but as there is really not much else out there I like to watch, well I have these huge big holes in my schedule now, what am I suppose to do? :(

I thought the biggest amount of action actually goes to: Tosh and Owen.
Owen and Diane (Out of Time) is probably the heaviest sex scene we've seen, and in joint second place Tosh/Adam and Tosh/Tommy (Adam and To The Last Man). Jack/Ianto's hothouse hands down each other's trousers is probably only a poor third, however "innovative" and "avante guard".
As for Torchwood getting less than a full series - it does make sense. The same guy showruns DW and TW and SJA - the production crew are getting a light year as a lot of people have left and a lot of people are changing jobs (for example, Phil Collinson had gone before the end of series 4, and Torchwood has lost Chris Chibnall as a lead writer). They're in a handover year, and they're looking to make an impact with Torchwood on 1 and they chose this way to do it.

I have to protest in the name of Torchwood. The DW franchise is the only one I know that has an opnly gay male action hero. It's the only television franchise I've ever seen in science fiction where homosexuality is given to us in m/m pairings or older ladies and is not just restricted to the two attractive females which are the heterosexual male fantasy. It's not jsut the only one where gay relatinoships are being really acknowledged - it's the only one where they're being acknowledged without the wink to the young male demographic, but are dealt with truly and honestly.
And I think it's a fundemantal thing for RTD and I don't see them removing that bit.
Maybe I'm an optimist, we'll find out, one day, when they air the bloody thing! :D

My point anyway, and I am sure I had one.... once :p.... was that John Barrowman himself talked about the show being tamed down for an American audience.
Now to me (yes how dare I have an opinion and express it :p) that would seem less of the sexin' for everyone including Jack and Ianto (the gay canon paring on the show).
My concern was that the US market might feel more comfortable with more het action (Gwen/boring bf) then it would with Jack/Ianto or Jack/John or Jack/OMC (too much fanfic :p) action.
By action I mean pretty much what we have already gotten on the show, I don't need Torchwood: QAF... well I do :p but that takes us back to the fanfic
So to clarify and reiterate: US conservative TV type folks=less togetherness for Jack and Ianto. Maybe. That is my concern. That is all. Just my concern. ;) Of course you do know RTD love Gwen/Jack he is a reverse slasher! He is a gay man who love shipping! lol :p *cough* 10/Rose *cough*

To which I replied with an opinion that from knowing RTD's work and how much he's more tightly in hcarge of TW series 3 than the first 2 series, I think we're still going to get equal representation of both het and gay relationships.
.... I'd be very happy for the fanfic's version of Jack/OMC TBH (Doctor! Doctaaaaaaaah! :D) but unfortunately it's not going to happen (sob).
D'ya think we should send him to that gulag together with you?.... *ponders this for a moment* ;)

I like the odd wrong feel to Torchwood. I also think that those who watch it on BBC America probably appreciate it as well. But, if the American PTB don't like some of the scenes, let THEM edit 'em out. :jack_new_anime05:
Maybe it won't be so bad now they have a new President, if they've accepted a black man as President then surely they can accept 2 men kissing on TV
Don't you believe it. NEVER expect anything to make sense when it comes to human behavior. :indeed:

I'm somewhat happy about that. It does cut down on people searching in the US for episodes already aired in the UK on websites that shall not be named. ;)
On the other hand, I'm still wondering how much "Torchwood" will be taken out of Torchwood.

Barrowman to write 'Torchwood' comic
Monday, January 12 2009, 22:54 GMT
By Michael Thornton
John Barrowman is to write an original comic strip for the March issue of the official Torchwood Magazine.
The actor, who plays Captain Jack Harkness in the Doctor Who spinoff, will pen 'Captain Jack and the Selkie' with his sister Carole E. Barrowman and editor Martin Eden.
Eden said: "I'm so excited to be working on this story.?* John and Carole are an absolute pleasure to work with. Believe me, the readers are in for a treat!"
Carole revealed that the project has been on her and John's agenda for some time, saying: "When John and I were working on [John's autobiography] Anything Goes, we spent a lot of time together on the Torchwood set.
"In between our storytelling and moments of inspired silliness, we decided we'd like to work on a project together that involved Captain Jack."

Garth Ancier, BBC America President, said that the U.S. summer broadcast will coincide with the BBC1 premiere with only a few hours, cross-Atlantic lag-time. The third season is only five, one-hour episodes long -- set to run on consecutive nights in the U.K. BBC America will follow the same schedule, making the broadcasts an event mini-series.
While series star John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness) waits for his thespian efforts to air, he'll be writing a Torchwood comic strip for "Torchwood Magazine" with sister and collaborator, Carole E. Barrowman. Look for special issue 14 on newsstands in early February.

Fifteen minutes with 'Torchwood: Children of the Earth' Director Euros Lyn (http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2009/02/fifteen-minutes-with-torchwood-children-of-the-earth-director-euros-lyn.html)
[no new spoilers, if you've seen the trailer you're good to go]
excerpt:
How did you get involved with Torchwood: Children of the Earth?
Well, I've worked on quite a few episodes of Doctor Who and worked with Russell Davies and Julie Gardner who write and [executive produce] the shows. Julie came to me and she said that this season they wanted to create a mini-series of just five episodes and have just one story arcing over the episodes. They wanted just one director to kind of take charge and it seemed like such a fantastic opportunity to tell one story and develop these wonderful characters through amazing adventures over five hours of TV. And the idea that they're going to be [aired] over one week - as a director it feel like it's one epic, huge story.
As you've worked with Russell and Julie before, did the familiarity help with the preperation since you know what they're expecting in terms of visuals?
Um....yeah, and not just visuals, tone as well. I mean, [one thing about] Russell's writing that's wonderful is he combines a very human domestic world with a very grand, epic, sci-fi, kind of tragic genre. He makes these contradictorily elements a whole and having an affinity for that is invaluable for me as a director.
Did you have any input on the story and how it was going to play out?
They were very kind to me and I was invited to come along to all the early storyline meetings. We've actually got three writers on this season. There's Russell, who's written two and a half of the episodes and kind of showrunning it all, and we've got James Moran and John Fay who've also written some episodes. Kind of being part of that team and part of the storytelling early on was a brilliant opportunity for me.

NYCC: Why death will haunt Torchwood: Children of Earth
Eve Myles, the star of BBC America's Doctor Who spinoff series Torchwood, told SCI FI Wire that last season's death will inform the action in the upcoming five-episode third season, Children of Earth. In the season finale, Owen (Burn Gorman) and Tosh (Naoko Mori) perished, and the team has to unravel the fallout of a secret pact the government forged with an alien race.
"It's quite important that everybody knows [that] in between the second and third series, we did a Radio 4 audio drama and a small stint on Doctor Who, so the grieving process for our characters were dealt with in that time period," Myles said in an exclusive interview at New York Comic Con over the weekend. "The characters went out with a bang—super characters, fantastic storylines. They'll be legends forever. But there is a strong essence of them all the way through this one. They highlight more than anything that life is very short and dangerous in Torchwood. They are the biggest symbols of that this year, ... but life carries on in Torchwood."
The show was a surprise hit at New York Comic Con, and on Saturday the room was packed with fans who have enthusiastically embraced the quirky sci-fi hit, which airs stateside on BBC America.
The trailer from the impending (and as-yet-unscheduled) five-part third season screened before Myles (who plays Gwen Cooper) and season-three director Euros Lyn answered questions from the audience.
Later, in an interview, they expressed gratitude at the enthusiastic response. "The acceptance has blown us away," Myles said with more than a little awe. "The response, the positive energy and kindness we have received, is phenomenal. We hope the next [season] is taken aboard, as well as the last seasons."
Lyn added, "It is genuinely exciting for us to be making this show in Wales for our home audience and discovering that what we deal in, the universal stories of love and loss and heroism, appeal to a global audience, and it's truly exciting."
Torchwood centers on the adventures of the paranormal investigators of the Cardiff, Wales, branch of the Torchwood Institute, led by Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) and teammates Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones (Gareth David-Lloyd).
Children of Earth represents a changeup in the series structure, downsizing from its typical 13-episode season to this new five-episode format.
"We have five hours to tell one huge, grand story this year," Lyn explained. "It's such a brilliant opportunity to develop relationships and build on stories that build to an epic climax. I'm directing all five episodes, and that's a real treat."
Asked if they missed not having as many hours to tell their arc, Myles said no. "I think the stronger storylines of the last seasons are the ones that were spread out over four, five and six episodes," she said. "I'm not saying if we were to go back to 13 parts I wouldn't enjoy it. It's all challenging, but this particular format and this story has allowed us to explore Gwen much deeper, in a much more layered way. We had fun with it and played around with it, where with individual episodes you don't really have time to do that. I also think it helps that everyone knows what Torchwood is now, so we don't have to explain it anymore, and what you see in this series is just the team trying to do their job and doing the best they possibly can. It's really awesome."
As to what fans can expect from police liaison Gwen in season three, Myles teased with a laugh. "Oh, Gwen!" she said. "She just keeps evolving into something that is always real, always grounded, always gracious and will always be in awe of everything she sees. She'll never lose that, because she's not a superhero and she doesn't have magic powers. She's me and you. So she's constantly evolving and getting stronger and becoming the born leader she was always meant to be, and in this [season] it becomes more evident. You see her struggling and becoming bigger and better, and also falling on her face ... literally. We see Gwen becoming exactly what she was destined to become with Torchwood."
As to the future of Torchwood, Lyn said he is hopeful this season will push the momentum for a fourth incarnation. "Season three is five episodes as a miniseries, and where it goes after that remains to be seen," he said. "As a concept it's strong enough to go on a myriad of directions. I think we'll see how this series goes down, and then we'll take it from there." Torchwood: Children of Earth is expected to sometime in the summer.

FearNET has an exclusive interview with Eve Myles and Director Euros Lyn: Talk 'Torchwood' Season 3!
[with lots of spoilers]
excerpts under spoilers:
Eve Myles on missing Owen and Tosh and on possibility of Gwack in s3 ():With the deaths of her two teammates in the previous season has Gwen risen in leadership in the team?
Absolutely. It's heightened that what she does is very dangerous, and it's also heightened her commitment to Torchwood. She could have easily walked away from it there and then, and lived in ignorance, but she didn't. She fought back, which Gwen does all the time. She just fights, fights, fights. She fights back with an astonishing kind of power. It's wonderful, but then there's moments in the series where we keep going back to the story of Tosh and Owen. I have a picture on my desk, and Gwen looks at it every morning when she says good morning to them. It's a symbol to her, it's a symbol of how important life is, and it shows her how important her job is.
...
Regarding one of her other teammates… There's always been a romantic spark between her and Jack. Do you think that spark should be fanned, or do you think she's best with her husband Rhys?
I think that lovely mixture of will-they-won't-they is always wonderful to watch. It's great drama, and it's very sexy. Sometimes John and I don't even have lines, but we make sure there's a constant connection between the two characters. It's great to play. It's a fantastic thing to play. But it's kind of like feeding the baby when it's not hungry – do you know what I mean?
[B]There's not a need?
I don't think so. I think there's more drama … I'm not saying I wouldn't love to snog John Barrowman – I would. But there's more drama in it not happening, I think. I think the chase is far more interesting than the catch. That's my personal psycho mind. [Laughs.]Euros Lyn on additions to the team in s3:Getting back to Torchwood, can you talk about the additions to the team that we might see this series?
I think originally we planned on bringing Mickey and Martha Jones back, and they were gonna be part of the Torchwood team's project. Unfortunately, with Noel, who plays Mickey, and Freema, who plays Martha, being tied to successful acting careers in their own right, they had to go off and do their own things. But there are new characters. We've got a new character called Lois, who is a bit of a reluctant hero, she's a bit of an everygirl, and finds herself accidentally right in the middle of our story, and she's forced to make a choice. Is she gonna join in the struggle, or is she gonna do what the government's telling her. And her journey is really important and central to the series. We've also got a character played by Peter Capaldi. He plays a character called Frobisher, who's a middle-ranking, gray civil servant, who's done nothing but work hard all his life and keep his head down and never stick his head above the parapet. He's kind of cast right into the heart of our story.
It sounds like Lois is reminiscent of Gwen when she was first introduced on Torchwood. Might we see Gwen looking at herself on the other side of the fence in this tale?
One of the things about Russell's writing that's very interesting is that he wants to write stories about ordinary people. When you write stories about saving the earth, you could write a story about a president or the leader of a country. But Russell wants to write stories about the ordinary person on the street who gets thrust into the heart of the adventure. Like Rose in Doctor Who, Gwen in Torchwood, and now Lois, it's very much the story of the ordinary person who finds themselves in extraordinary circumstances.
Is there a chance we may see these two new characters in future stories?
Who knows. Both Frobisher and Lois are fantastic characters played by brilliant actors. Who knows.Euros Lyn on Jack and Janto in s3: What can you say about what's in store for Captain Jack in season 3?
In season 3, we get to glimpse aspects of Jack's past, terrible things that Jack has done in the past, that he finds very difficult to have to live with. And obviously not being able to die means he has to live with them for a very long time. So this is a character who's got these stains on his soul. We also get to learn a lot more about his relationship with Ianto, the nature of their relationship.
Is it hard to tell suspenseful stories about a man who can't die?
Absolutely. There are quite a few moments in season 3 where "Will Jack survive this event?" And you know in the back of your mind he always does, so the prospect of death means nothing to him. There's a higher price that he has to pay – there's a moral price. There's a price of loneliness. There are things worse than death.

Director Euros Lyn Talks Torchwood, Tennant's Doctor Who Farewell
Euros Lyn will stand at the center of the British sci-fi world in 2009.
In addition to shooting each of the five episodes of Torchwood's third season, the Welsh television director will also oversee this year's final Doctor Who episode, in which David Tennant transforms into Matt Smith.
"It's been an endurance test," Lyn told Wired.com. "It was a 16-week shoot for the Torchwood season -- longer than most feature films. But the intensity keeps you focused on the work."
Lyn is careful not to divulge too much in the way of spoilers for the new season of Torchwood, BBC's Doctor Who spinoff that delves into activities at the fictional Torchwood Institute, a Welsh organization that investigates aliens that walk among us.
But he did elaborate on some of the whispers that are already out there.
"When we catch up to our characters, they've mourned the loss of Owen (played by Burn Gorman) and Tosh (Naoko Mori) and are trying to move on," Lyn explained. Owen and Tosh sacrificed themselves to save their friends in the second season's finale.
"For the first time, we'll see Torchwood facing a threat from home while they're also investigating an alien invasion. When they try to discover why all the children in the world have suddenly stopped at the same time, Torchwood also has to deal with human beings who are trying to hide a past mistake."

With Torchwood: Children Of Earth finally due to arrive on our screens in the not-too-distant future, the time was right for a catch-up with John Barrowman. So many questions: What can we expect from this new-format series three? Will there be a fourth series? And will he return to Doctor Who to wave off David Tennant? Struggling to contain our excitement and with our spoiler-scoops fully primed, we shared a pizza with the big man to find out more.

Its very different from any other part I have played of late. The script is very funny and it???s great to be working with such a talented crew. People have been extremely generous in giving their time and resource for nothing to make what I am sure will be a very entertaining film.???

Last Thursday when John Barrowman was on BBC 1 Chris Moyles Breakfast Show, JB hinted that this mini-series may be broadcasted on June/July 2009.
In some ways, it makes sense as there aren't any Doctor Who special episodes during the summer, but that goes against the supposedly Spring 2009 launch date for S3.

Torchwood - Children of Earth Airdate?
After months of speculation, the third series of the Doctor Who spin-off show, Torchwood, is to be broadcast on BBC1 in June.
The British Film Institute are hosting a preview of the first episode on Friday, 12th June at the National Film Theatre in London. This would suggest that Torchwood: Children of Earth will start broadcasting on 15th June. As previously announced by the BBC, the five-part series will be aired over five consecutive nights though it would appear that this format will not be observed when it is screened on BBC America.

As suspected I'm strictly forbidden from saying pretty much anything about Torchwood: Children Of Earth until.. ooh, I'm guessing, maybe the first week of June or so.
What I will say though is that you will absolutely be not disappointed - there's terror, there's conspiracy, there's humour, there's a bit of snogging and there's heaps of action. Enough now though. More soon - watch this space.

Torchwood: Series 4 - "ready to go"
The third series of Torchwood hasn't even aired yet but the next one is prepared. And there's some news about the upcoming episodes...
Last night saw a preview screening of the the first installment of Torchwood: Children of Earth at the National Film Theatre. The episode, titled Day One, was followed by a 'Q & A' with the show's creator, Russell T Davies.
During the session, Davies revealed that the fourth series is "ready to go" but is entirely dependent on how the third series performs. The showrunner also revealed that he would be willing to do the show for the next ten years and wanted more crossovers with its 'parent' show, Doctor Who.
