Question about nebula picture in Briefing room

I am sorry if this is common knowledge but I am having trouble finding out which nebula is in the pic on the wall in the Briefing room/outside the General's office.

    In the red square:

I have noticed that the Orion nebula does bear similarity to it but it doesn't look the same, or is it?

    Thanks,
    Vala,

The one from the office shot looks like a different angle and possibly in a different spectrum, like infrared vs. regular light.

      There are some similarities.

Yeah, I noticed that the image is mirrored between seasons. In season 1, it was in the briefing room (Where the security monitors currently are) and in later seasons, it's in the hall outside of the General's office.

Does anyone know for sure? And where can I get a large pic like that or is it something the Studio made?

Actually, I was referring to the image itself. It's rotated at a different angle from the reference we were given to compare against. I wasn't talking about where in the room the picture was hung.

          Sorry for the confusion.

Nice catch on the mirroring thing though. I didn't notice that.

The big point I was trying to make is that they look like shots of the same nebula, only one is plain visible light and the other is infrared. If I had to guess, I'd say the shot of the Orion Nebula is likely infrared, but I'm also just as likely wrong.

They're just too similar for not being the same.

I think it's the crab nebula. Looks similar.

The thing with these images are that they are not "real". When for example the Hubble Space Telescope takes data, it's in monochrome and filled with noise. Astronomers and other professionals tinker with it, add filters, colours, remove errors, etc to make a pretty picture. So, the two "pictures" of the same object can appear totally different, depending on the filter used (infrared, optical, radio) as someone said, or the angle, etc.

We can't really know for sure unless that poster they used is a popular one and someone finds the same poster with a caption or something!
