Was MacKay's dream more rational than you expected? And did the whale attack remind you guys of the show Surface?

Alos the whole dream thing (especally the Dr dying) was very Matrix.

Overall a good ep!

I think it was more rational because he knew what was going on.

It seemed very linear - also I loved what I saw as a callback to The Storm/The Eye episodes (the torrential rain), in which Rodney not only nearly died several times, but was also tortured, and saved, ultimately by Sheppard, and his own brain (which is what happens in this ep, too).

Good call. I liked this one also...especially the clown!

I did not pay attention at first to the first clue that the entity had switched over to Sheppard. The clown was not a product of Mckay's fear. It was Shep's. The only reason Mckay saw it was because they were still connected. I guess the entity was a a sort of middle ground between the two. It was rather interesting though. the clown was amazing. reminds me of Stephen King's It. Creepy movie.

The clown thing was definitely pretty funny.:D

As for McKay's "whale", even I would be afraid of that thing.

yeah...I must agree that since he knew what was going on....his dream was a little "altered"...but the clown was priceless! Great scene!

yeah I was dying when he was like

"This isn't as weird as you said it would be"

"Oh yeah what about that?"

Hysterical!

Probably the funniest moment in the show since Rodney got shot by an arrow in Setida (sp?)

Rodney has had the same dream for years so it wouldn't be as freakish to him.

When the whale swallowed the boat.....probably one of my single favourite moments on the show. :D Every show needs whales. Even scary people-eating ones. :P

It was pretty rational, but then, I never really think Rodney is THAT warped.

Now, MY mind, THAT'S warped. :D

Don't forget GOP, where he met the whale/fish he later called Sam... And i loved where it rose up and swallowed the dingy whole.

I was literally lol'ing with the clown scene and i liked when they were sitting around talking about their nightmares.

Oh and the Sheppard vs Sheppard battle at the end was AWSOME! Can't have an episode called Doppleganger with out one of the characters fighting themselves.

Same here I loved the clown as to the whale me too! Though my biggest fear is rats.

I was LIGIT scared of this dream. It was SOOOO freaky. The whale coming up from underneath freaked me out to the point of heart pounding. This NEVER happens to me watching TV either.

Actually, I thought McKay's dream was awesome. Not on its own, though. Earlier in the episode, I told my brother that the episode seemed rather like the M*A*S*H episode called "Dreams," where people were taking turns having dreams. He said that all we needed was McKay drifting by on a boat with no arms to make it complete. It started with pretty much the exact same shot as in "Dreams," with a shot looking down at the water and a rowboat drifting into frame. (Although, McKay still had arms, but we mustn't expect too much...) I couldn't believe it. Do you think it was a coincidence?

I was pretty shocked when the whale came up and killed them, I even closed my eyes, it was really scary. But the clown thing was soo funny, that was the best moment of the dream! :D

Heh. First thing that came to mind during McKay's dream was the Resident Evil 4 boss battle with Del Lago (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Resident_Evil_4_creatures#Del_Lago) which tries to knock you out of the boat and eat you while you're on the lake. There are no clowns in the game though. :D

That was one of my favourite sequences of the entire series. And it was really freaky, but then, sitting in a rowboat alone in the middle of an ocean would terrify me, since my biggest fear is water. :jack_new_anime06:

Yeah there were no lemons....but that turning around and seeing that clown was priceless. The whale coming up was a great idea, fantastic effects on that shot also. Kinda made me jump a little.

The nightmare he described earlier in the show was funny too... Where Sam invited him over for supper and she cooked lemon chicken and told him that she was promoting Zelenka. I thought that was hilarious...

That was just fantastic- and a great call back to "48 Hours" with the lemon chicken. :D

Me too! I thought if he had a dream of all his worst fears that would be it. It cracked me up though, and then Ronon goes is that all? And Rodney says "then I was eaten by a whale." Haha just the way he threw that in there was great.

Though one thing he said that does make you wonder...

why do kids love hearing scary stories right before bed time..

I wonder what the significance of McKay's previous fondness for Sam the whale is compared to his nightmares about whales. Has the arrival of the human Sam, his intellectual rival and new boss, unsettled him and brought back fears that he had previously conquered?
