Sky One pacts for more U.S. skeins

LONDON -- Sky One, satcaster BSkyB's flagship net, is attempting to halt a ratings slide by adding another two U.S. titles to its growing collection of acquired fare.
It has bought pay, free and basic-cable rights to "Stargate Atlantis" and "Revelations" from MGM and renewed its license with the same distributor for "Las Vegas."
"Stargate SG-1" spinoff "Stargate Atlantis" has played well in the U.S., giving the Sci Fi Channel a big hit.
Whether it can repeat this performance on Sky One, which has been given extra coin from CEO James Murdoch following a difficult 18 months, remains to be seen.
"Revelations" is a new miniseries starring Bill Pullman and David Seltzer and helmed by David Semel.
The second season of "Las Vegas" will bow next year on Sky One.
Deal was brokered by David Smyth, Sky One's head of acquisitions, drama and comedy, and Carolyn Stalins, senior VP, MGM Intl. Television Distribution Europe.
