We need a race with ground Melee units!!!

Does anyone here play Command and Conquer Tiberium Wars?

I was playing it the other day, and I realized that when playing the Scrin, the Scrin reminds me of the Wraith. I would probably like to see something different in the SG universe.

Whenever SG1 or SGA encounters a ground fight, they are usually dealing with Darts, Deathgliders, Ori Gliders, etc. The most basic ground unit is the staff weapons and machine guns. We have seen things like probes that fire (that has shielding), and that was refreshing.

I'd love to see the Wraith or the Ashurans employ something like this:

As long as the USAF get's a Mammoth tank it's fine with me

( a Mammoth tank owns 2 of those tripods with health left to spare)

Due to budgetary reasons, it's easier to have enemies which only use air/spaceships. That way, they can remain off screen for long periods, while our heroes visit worlds, on feet, through stargates.

We're just damn lucky that we've never met even once an army which does have a long history of ground fighting with advanced weaponry and tactics.

Most advanced worlds in the Milky Way, be they post Goa'uld colonies or not, seem to be at relative peace now, or if they're at war, they do not possess the will or a technology that matches ours.

In Pegasus, it's the same deal for the moment. All civilisations are wiped out by the Wraith, and the Genii turned out to be redshirts with outdated technologies, again, though they would probably be one of those most dangerous enemies if they had launched a full war against us. But with what, exactly? They had no ships at all, and the stargates are not easily reachable.

The Tollans were friendly, and didn't seem to use any army besides a sort of council police armed with energy pistols.

The Aschens, though spread over several planets, were more politicians, playing with genetics to kill people, and had only personnal defenses, really.
We saw a few guards, but again, nothing to suggest a more or less standing army.

The fact is, we haven't faced an advanced army which has refined its strategies and technology to the upmost levels, to exploit all advantages of stargates.

Thus far, we are those. We have Iris and a well defended fortress. We have access codes, sentries, and eventually a self destruct in the SGC.
On the other end, we send MALPs at any occasion, we can fire missiles and sent UAVs. We have outposts with vehicles on them, and our teams have all the necessary package to deal with any possible situation, as long as it's sufficiently similar to the worst situation on Earth.
Nukes, explosives, sniper rifles, machine guns, grenades, knives, close combat training, etc.

We have never seen an army which could do all of the procedures described below, without resorting to special gears or deployments:

      - Fire massive energy beams through stargates, to destroy whatever's on the other side. Deploy stun bombs or EMP bombs.
      - Massively rely on biochemical weapons to attack a world.
      - Deploy legions of mechanized units through a stargate. From the mere drone to a heavy exosuit, wheeled vehicle, armoured tank and air capable craft.
      - Use long range and guided weapons. Missiles.
      - Quickly deploy automatized defenses around a stargate once the first wave's been through, to quickly settle a beachhead, supported by the routine deployment of shields, auto sentries and/or minefields around stargates.
      - Equip its soldiers with appropriate gears, for appropriate missions. Sealed and armoured suits, with powerful carriable weapons of war, not terror. Also come with heavy rifles, detonators, plasma torches, stingers wannabes, mines, etc.
      - Have its own stargate correctly isolated and defended, not in the open land or in a sort of exposition hall. We're talking about a fortress as well. A space station, or a base on a hostile planet, anything that allows easy containment and destruction if needed.

The Goa'uld did use a couple of those, but it's not in their habits. They have the shields. They have the virii. They have the stun grenades, the probes and the towers. They also have the small and portable autosentries, such as the taks.
They even had gategliders, but for some absurd reason, couldn't make them go through a gate, even when we know that a glider can levitate and stand still above the ground with no problem.
Above all, if they wanted to, they could create all of the forementionned gear, and even more.
If they really through about it, they could use tactics which would prove decisive in stargate orientated warfare.

I play C&C3, the wraith do seem to resemble the scrin. Tripods rock, especially alot of them, moving them through a valley with the first few out of phase taking all the hits, the ones behind returning fire.
Their white flags are no match to our guns!!

Didn't the Milky Way replicators use a lot of Melee weapons. All the units had to get close in to kill.
