June 29, 2007 - Thanks to IGN's growing television community we are now able to hear your voice and compare your thoughts on TV to ours. In the past we would gauge your interest in shows by your emails, but now due to Reader Reviews and episode ratings we have a better idea of what you, the IGN reader, wants to see.
"This Week's Best Episode" compiles your Reader Reviews and ratings for each episode over the week, and compares your favorite episode of television to ours. There are rules, however. A rating for an episode will only be accepted if it has five ratings or more attached to that particular show - this will help to give more of an average. Being that we are taking the "Best Episode" of the week from your ratings, that means that you the IGN reader are going to have to make sure that you're rating the episodes that you have watched (and seriously, please), so that your favorite TV program will be represented against IGN TV's favorite show every week. Last week we watched as the Robot Chicken: Star Wars special took the Reader's Choice, while The Closer and Entourage tied as IGN's Choice for episode of the week. How will The Closer and Entourage fare this week? Read on and find out!
So without any further ado, we bring you the "Best Episode" of television for the week of June 22 - June 28.
Reader's Choice: Stargate Atlantis: "First Strike"
- SCI FI ChannelWith a 9.6 average rating from 6 reader ratings and 1 Reader Review, you, the IGN Community, picked the season 3 finale for Stargate Atlantis, "First Strike," as your favorite episode of the week.
IGN's Choice: Stargate SG-1: "Unending"
- SCI FI ChannelAfter the June 22nd episode of Stargate SG-1, the show is over and done with - and according to IGN TV writer Jason Van Horn it ended with, "A poignant and fond farewell." So, with a 9.8 rating we here at IGN gave SG-1's series finale "Unending" our award for "This Week's Best Episode."
