RDAnderson Updates

I had so much fun putting together the last update for the Stargate
locations, and I had such an enthusiastic response, that I decided to
do the same thing for MacGyver. I had been devoting so much attention to Stargate over the past few years that I didn't realize how many photos of MacGyver locations I had managed to accumulate.

These are all my own photos that I have taken on vacations - with more
to come when I have an opportunity for another trip. But for right now, you'll find the latest update has 75 photos of MacGyver locations, linked to scenes from the episodes, and identified on a map. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

I've just returned from a week in Los Angeles, and I had a chance to
catch up with RDA while I was there. He had just returned from a trip to Hawaii, and he shared some news about his vacation for the site. Wylie, too, was interested in contributing to the site, and she offered a piece of her artwork. I've been busily adding new pictures to the RDA website.

While I was in Los Angeles this month, I was able to add a lot more
pictures to my collection of shooting locations used during MacGyver. Some of the locations have changed considerably in the last 20 years, but I've had fun capturing a bit of the past. I've now finished updating the images and the maps, and have uploaded the latest additions (49 new pictues for seasons 1, 2, and 7), in the MacGyver section of the website.

September 15, 2007

Earlier this week, the results of a poll commissioned by the McCormick Tribune Foundation were released. The poll, designed to urge people to become better prepared for disasters, asked 1049 Americans whom among seven fictional heroes they would choose to ask for help in the event of an emergency. The results placed MacGyver significantly in the lead with 27% of the vote, followed by Indiana Jones (16%), John McClane (14%), James Bond (8%), Jason Bourne (8%), Jack Bauer (7%), and Lara Croft (7%). When Richard was approached by a Chicago newspaper for a comment about the survey results, he sent this response through the website:

Richard made his first trip to Ireland last week as part of Microsoft's launch of the new Xbox 360 game, Halo3. I've made an initial update to the website with some information about the visit, and with four of his interviews (two radio and two television) available for download. As I acquire more information and photos, I will be adding new updates to this section of the site. In the meantime, feel free to enjoy the interviews. They are wmv zip files - just right-click, "save as," unzip, and play.

Also, members of the RDA Forum have taken the initiative to raise money in RDA's name to help support his favorite charities. They are currently raising money in support of Sea Shepherd, which they plan to present in time for Christmas. You'll find all the information about the "RDA Fan Projects" here:

October 27th

Finally there is some news to add to the RDA website. It's been an unusual
couple of weeks for RDA, but he phoned to talk about some of the things that
have been going on.

First, to all of the people who have been writing to ask about RDA and his
family through the ordeal of the California fires, he has offered
reassurance that all is well.

He also had the first of two surgeries on his feet about a week ago, and he
talks about his recovery.

He talked as well about some of his appearances, both past and upcoming,
including Gatecon next summer, and the Sea Shepherd benefit earlier this
month. There is now additional information about the Sea Shepherd event on
the site, including a few pictures from the gala evening.

SG1 - RDA: Richard Dean Anderson Website Update Nov. 23' 07:

Some long overdue updates have finally been added to the RDA website this week.

I have finally had the chance to complete my notes for the remaining Stargate episodes, and now, at long last, I have updated and uploaded the
Episode Guide for season 10, and the Mission Databases for both seasons 9
and 10.

Now I am hoping to move on to another long overdue project. Last year I had
intended to collect and organize a summary and images from the Avalon weekend, but in the light of other projects that needed to be done, that
never happened. Now, in time for Avalon's first anniversary, I am working my
way through all my notes and images to finally complete the update. I'll be
in touch with some people who had offered their pictures to me last year to
be included, but this seems like a good time to ask - if there are any other
attendees from Avalon last year who would be willing to share some of their
photos on the site, please let me know! (The best email to use is kate100 [at] optonline.net)

There have been a few new additions in the past week.

First, as a second set of fires raced through Malibu, Richard called to say that once again he and his family were safe. Unfortunately he got my answering machine, so the message was short, but I've added it to the Updates page.

A few days later, RDA made an appearance at the USC Quench the Fire 5K
Walk/Run to support the USC Pain Center. He participated as an emcee,
and mingled with fans for autographs and pictures. Some photos of the event have been added to the Updates page as well.

I've also been able to add some pictures that were taken last spring as the SG-1 production filmed scenes for Continuum at the APLIS facility on the Arctic Ocean.

Many many thanks to all those who wrote to share some of their pictures from Avalon. I'm still working on putting together a page about that event and hopefully that will be completed soon.

A new "Note From Rick" and some new updates to the "Store" have been
added to the RDA website.

Those unfamiliar with OfficeMax's "Elf Yourself" website can follow the link to see an elfin creation by an SG-1 fan. The link was also sent to RDA, and he replied with an email describing how he and Wylie had enjoyed it together.

Two days later he followed up with a phone call. Once again, he got the answering machine, but he left a message with some more news about his latest activities and his new house.

In particular RDA wanted to thank the group of fans from the "RDA Fan
Projects" who had collected money to be donated to Sea Shepherd in his
name, and he made a point of contacting those fans to offer his thanks.
