I wonder if they've been sending Bicycles to Atlantis on the Daedalus? :jack_new_anime06:

I find it strange that there are a couple sets of golf clubs on Atlantis, golf balls, and a "driving range" yet one character said "its hard to get anything from earth thats not vital to the mission". They could have bikes.

Wasn't that in the beginning before they had Daedalus to make regular trips back & forth to Earth. As well as the ZPM for direct gate connections & then the intergalactic bridge.

Nope.

Also, Maybe Sheppard and a couple of others brought them with them on one of their return trips?

I count four potential jumper bays in addition to the main tower.

I know its big, everyones always saying that hive ships are bigger than Atlantis. Bull crap, its very big, lot bigger than a hive ship. I find it hard to believe that they can get from one point to another so fast. Except for the transporters, but that doesn't go to every single spot in the city. Also, I think McKay would have done a lot of walking to get to that spot he was in.

Also, thread starter: Please put those pictures in spoiler tabs, its making the forum all distorted.

Cool Shots. Green for that.

Let's put it simply. They screwed royally.

Notice the central spire? It still has the balcony (check out the highly detailed production CGI shots provided a couple of months ago). Basically, if you were to put the McKay you've circled in that picture on the balcony, he would probably end being as little as the piece of turkey he ate in Rising.

Remember the zoom out in The Eye/Storm, where we see Shep calling Kolya? He was on the edge of one of the piers...

Remember when a wraith scoutship landed on one pier, in Allies? It was huge, as were the F-302. In fact, they just were probably too big to boot.

If they're going to pretend that Atlantis is like many tens of kilometers wide, then please at least redo the central spire and resize the balcony.

It's literally incredible that some people still pretend that to make a shot look more impressive, you have to completely alter the size of the objets.

I mean, it's not like you could actually move your virtual camera, change angles and focus.

But you know what, it's just bigger to scale a model up or down, instead of trying to find the right angle. It goes faster, and at Rainmaker, they repeatedly say they don't have enough time.

We just see how it was poorly thought from the get go. It's a pity, when you actually consider the former ideas they had...

I don't really care about the little mistakes they make but sometimes its confusing. It's like they're making it up as they go but they should just create one design and keep to it. Also Atlantis is rather larger than a hive.
Also McKay was standing there after Beckett died. I don't think he really cared about a long walk after something like that.

Well looking at that pic, there appears to be at least 2 other 'central spire looking towers, besides the main one..

Do you mind linking to that CGI shot? I don't recall seeing any balconies on them, to be honest.

Wow! That's frakking beautiful! Sometimes I also think Atlantis is smaller than it should be. It's certainly not large enough to justify years to be fully explored. If SGA were a big movie and so on, I'm sure they would come up with something like that.

You can actually see the balcony on the central tower in the pic you put. The proportions have not changed, and you see that despite the distance, you could almost put McKay's silhouette and stack it upon the balcony.

Remember the size of the roof when puddle jumpers take off? Compare this to MinishKay and you'll see. They really have to do something.
Well, it's already completely FUBAR.

It looks nice, but the eye knows proportions are all wrong.

You mean that little protuberance on the left bottom of the tower?

If so, how can you be so sure that that's the balcony and not...something else?

I find it really sad that they cant keep sizes somewhat consistant. I can understand reusing the same images over and over but atleast keep sizes the same, otherwise it really ruins the atmosphere they are trying to set up IMO. You get confused and start thinking "Meh, this is worthless" when seeing stuff like that.

In "The Official Stargate SG-1/Atlantis" magazine, Issue 12; Rainmaker's visual effects supervisor Bruce Woloshyn said in an interview and I quote,

"It's like the Wraith Fleet. These things are 11 kms in length, these hives. They're much larger than this city(Atlantis), and yet it's hard to give them scale."

Atlantis is said to be only 3 kms end to end.
