just as a nice little thing to support gateworld, rather than clicking on any of the above links, click on this link and anything you buy after putting sacrifice moon into your shopping cart (so long as you don't browse away from the site) will help gateworld stay so great.

Thanks, Jafana! I'm not sure if that link will work, though -- better off to start at http://www.gateworld.net/store/ and click "U.K. Books."

Are these books any good? I read The price You Pay and The Commandment Novel of Stargate and they were ok, but nothing to write home about.

I think it's going to come down to taste. I thougth Trial by Fire was ok. Little off in places, little too british at times, but not bad.

I didn't enjoy it as much as The Weather Outside, which was a fanfic doc wrote years ago, but did read the book....but i'm not settling down to re-read it either.

I've not really read Julie Fortune's stuff. She seems to prefer Daniel in much of what she writes, and that's not much to my taste. I have heard, however, that others enjoy her stuff.

The books by Ashley Mcconnell (the first 3 novels published years ago) really weren't all that good. the writer got zero to no support from mgm (she did her research off the internet and had fans send her tapes). they were also poorly edited (sam was referred to as Amanda Carter in one of them)

Fandemonium at least, seems to be trying

I enjoyed Trial by Fire, I guess it was a little British in parts but mainly because the character (Dr Kelly) was British. At least the phrases being used were accurate. I liked the flow of the story and the interactions between the characters rang true most of the time. You can tell that the author is a fan of the series.

I don't know if I will get the next novel, mainly because of the concerns about it being very Daniel centric. I think I'll wait to see the reviews

If I am going to read a novel of Stargate, I will be reading what I'm writing. Because I have been planning on writing a novel for quite some time.

I even have a story that I think many will love. But I am not going to give any details just yet!

I'm from the US of A so it will not be British whatsoever.
The hardest thing about writing an SG:1 book is capturing the characters correctly. That's my most important goal.

When i say Trial by Fire was british in places, what i meant was, a time or two, Jack was thinking in brit terms. LIke in one place he goes 'plan b is what you do when plan a goes pear shaped'

as a person from the US and Midwest (which is jack's background), we don't use 'pear shaped' to describe anything other than, well a pear

I loved Dr kelly, she was a trip, it was just the occasional britism and info dump here and there that bogged it down for me

                    the latest e-mail

                    Dear Stargate SG-1 fan,

Just two days until the second in the new series of Stargate SG-1
                    novels is
published. Fan reaction has been, well, fantastic. Thanks to everyone
                    who
has pre-ordered Sacrifice Moon (we've even had a few people catching up
                    on
book one, Trial by Fire, which is good to see).

Sacrifice Moon, by Julie Fortune, harks back to season one, following
                    the
beloved characters on their very first mission as a team. As the blurb
                    on
the back of the book jacket says:

                    "The Goddess hunts...
Just four days after Major Kawalsky’s death, Colonel Jack O’Neill leads
                    the
newly commissioned SG-1 on their first mission through the Stargate.
                    Their
destination is Chalcis, a peaceful society at the heart of the Helos
Confederacy of planets. But Chalcis harbors a dark secret, one that
                    pitches
SG-1 into a world of bloody chaos, betrayal and madness. Battling to
                    escape
the living nightmare, Dr Daniel Jackson and Captain Samantha Carter
                    soon
begin to realize that more than their lives are at stake. They are
                    fighting
for their very souls. But while O’Neill and Teal’c struggle to keep the
                    team
together, Daniel is hatching a desperate plan that will test SG-1’s
fledgling bonds of trust and friendship to the limit..."

I got book 1 through a friend of mine who charged me 14, but if you order through the amazons, then the postage is actually as much as or more than the book, making the total order over 10 us, which makes it close to 20 us i believe.

Maybe someone who bought book 1 through amazon can answer your question more accurately

I'm not sure on the exchange rate, especially since it changes day to day but i THINK 1 british pound is 60-70 us cents

it's possible that you can call your local bank and they might know what the rate is
