Abydos stargate
i read somewhere in this forum i think that the Abydos Stargate was made out of sandstone? if this is true, y? it just doesn't make sense

The stargate is made of the mineral naquadah.

i have done a search and cant find anything that relates to it
well its not true. The stargate is a giant super conductor and needs to conduct energy to beable to work. sandstone wont absorb the energy, and how the hell would it work!

its a type of natural sedimentary rock consisting of sand like particulates compressed until they fuse forming a solid material. The only similarity between sandstone and naquadah is the quartz.. Naquadah is a quartz-like material, while sandstone can be fused (similarly to the way cement works) by quartz... Doesnt last very long though compared to other rocks. i think i read something along these lines in a thread not so long ago, it said something like "in the movie Abydos gate/gateroom was made of sandstone whereas in the series it was made of naqauda"sigpicComment
