Well I just got done watching five SG1 episodes straight thru, back to back. It went really fast too, didn't seem like hours at all. It's a new record for me, but I'm sure it's nothing compared to some fans. So how many episodes have you ever watched in a row straight?

I think that the most I watched was with Saharagate - we did 3 days straight of stargate, and got through the first 3 seasons completely and then watched a number of our fav eps in the later seasons.
of course, we stopped to sleep a couple hours in between, but basically it was pretty intense. but great fun. and really interesting to link different eps that we'd not noticed before.

Yay! I found you! :D
Man, they were the best three days.....I wonder how many we did in one sitting though?
We should have kept track......hmm great excuse to do it again. If only you didn't live on the other side of the country

The most episodes I have watched in one sitting was about 3 DVDs worth of the season 6 set, which comes out to about 15 episodes. I went to work for 7 hours and then came back and finished the set. :D
Did I mention that I'm a Stargate addict? :o

I've never actually counted but there have been days (many many days) when I haven't actually watched anything else, except for Neighbours of course (can't miss neighbours, that would be criminal). I think that says more for the poor state of British tv than it does for my status as an addict...denial is a wonderful thing don't you reckon!!

The next target . . . all of season seven!

that'd have to be my season 6 marathon...16 episodes of S6 and both parts of Heroes in under 24 hours. We started early evening, only stopped to eat and sleep for a few hours...then woke up and watched some more!

I don't know... I taped as many episodes as I could when they started showing on Sci-Fi right from the beginning, (got all the way up to about 75 I think) and there's not much on during the weekends here, so usually I pop in a tape of SG1 and just keep watching until somebody has a better plan. I'd have to do a little math to figure out just how many in a row I've watched, but the number is staggering, I'm sure.
Is that sad??

May 4th, 2004, 09:26 AM
I have almost all episodes taped in order from TV, six episodes on one tape, without the commercials. It is not that rare that I put in a tape and let it play from the beginning (just like yesterday, but I didn't pay attention to it all the time).
When I bought S2 through S5 in two months last summer, I was also watching Stargate almost each day for several hours. But I didn't write down how many eps I managed to watch in one go.

I always watch most of the 5 hours on scifi every monday (except for the eps that I don't like) while I'm doing homework/studying/surfing internet.
last summer I watched the movie and the first two seasons straight through on DVD... I was still sort of new to the series, I'd only seen a few episodes in syndication.

The most eps I have ever watched in one sitting is about 6 or 7.
I lie in bed at night and stick a video into the video player and watch every ep on it :p So usually i'm awake until 2/3 o clock in the mornign watching SG because when I have to choose between Stargate and sleep, Stargate always wins :D

The most I've watched in a row is 10 episodes. That happened when the season 5 box set came out. Hadn't seen hardly any of those episodes.
However I do start each morning with an episode. Stargate and coffee...can it get any better.

A friend of mine who I've introduced to SG-1 have been/is watching the entire series with me, from start to... well, current eps as they get released on region 2 DVD. Nowadays we only watch one disc every time we have a gate-marathon (since we've caught up to the current releases) but when we first started we would usually stay in for entire days and just watch Stargate.
Long story short, I think the most we ever watched in one sitting (not counting the times we got up from our chairs for bathroom breaks, to order pizza or to answer the phone or whatever) was 16 episodes. At least, I think that was the most we ever watched in one sitting... Back then, our standard SG-1 marathon would be something like eight to twelve episodes in one sitting, so I doubt we ever did more.

I think the most was over easter break. Myself and my boyfriend watched Series 1-6 in total over a week, and then all of 7 that I have on DVD on the Sunday. Best spent time in ages. Boyfriend+popcorn and junk food+Jack O' Neill. Where can a girl go wrong with that? >o :p

Me and a friend watched all of season three and all of season four... it was really fun... but a little tiring... We didn't watch in order either just went off of episode descriptions... like we watched 'Demons' and directly after felt the need to watch 'Urgo'.... :D

Mine's probably 5 from having watched all Monday night a few times on sci-fi. Don't think I've had the attention span to stick with any of the marathons longer. I usually wind up doing chores for an hour or two in the middle.

I think the most eps i've watched in a row was like 13. I got season 3 and 4 for my birthday and i had only seen some of them so I just sat down at like noon and watched...and watched....oh, and i watched some more. Then the next day i did the same thing. hehe. i just couldn't get enough!

At least once a month, my friend and I get together for Stargate night. We usually start around 6 and go until 3 or 4 in the morning. Let's see...that's about an average of 12-14 episodes straight. Besides that, the only time I watch TV is when I'm watching my Stargate dvd's so that's usually one or two episodes a night. Oh and Monday nights of course. I do actually watch "real" TV for that.

We're currently rewatching the entire series on DVD and DVR during the hiatus. We're averaging about 2-3 eps a night. We usually watch a movie, so 2-3hrs isn't unusual. The most we've ever watched straight through is 5, I think...probably when I was home sick from work. By "straight through" I meant not counting pauses to answer the phone, get food, take the dogs out, etc.
BTW, when I saw the title "# of episodes ever watched straight" I thought "Am I the only one who watches sober?" ;)

I can't watch too many in a row anymore 'cause I have 2 little kids & a husband who doesn't understand my obsession! I think it's maybe four in a row, max. Unless it's one of my truly favorite eps, I tend to just watch my favorite scenes & skip the rest due to lack of time. My husband jokes that someday we're going to sit and watch all seven years of Stargate from start to finish - until I figured out it would take over 5 days of non-stop watching!
This post made me think of the time I stayed up all night with my friend watching The Monkeys Marathon on MTV when I was 15 or 16 (God I feel old!). I just can't do that kind fun stuff anymore *sniff*.

most eps watched is the entirety of seasons 1-7 as have all of 1-6 on dvd and season 7 on tv-rips and/or promo dvds this took almost six days including sleep, so thats just over a season a day! prob bout 25-26 eps a day with about 4 hours sleep in between!
By the way i am a student and have nothing better to do with my time!

In a straight stint - i.e: no food, no breaks, no sleep, no interruptions of any kinda and phone on silent I managed close to 40hrs continuous starting with the movie and almost got to the end of season 3 before I realised I was starting to get ultra hungry and I could no longer understand what Carter was saying...
In a stint with breaks (i.e: 3-4 hours sleep and food) I've watched movie + s1 s2 s3 s4 s5, and if I had s6 and s7 on DVD I'd watch them too

Teens Claim to Set New TV-Viewing Record
Fri Aug 20, 7:46 AM ET
Odds and Ends (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/news/archive/2004/08/20/national0647EDT0491.DTL) (see last story on the page)
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A pair of teenagers who spent more than two straight days publicly glued to a television set say they have set a new world record for uninterrupted TV viewing.
Chris Dean, 16, and Mike Dudek, 17, logged 52 consecutive hours of viewing time by the time they ended their feat at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The teens, who are incoming high school seniors, surpassed the Guinness World Records mark of 50 hours and seven minutes by nearly two hours — giving new meaning to "must-see TV."
...<snipsnip>...
The pair also had to complete their task in a public place and keep a log book and video documentary of their activities. They dined exclusively off the IHOP menu — taking occasional shots of maple syrup — because outside food was not allowed.
Dean's parents, Gordon and Brenda Dean, helped document the event and said they were proud of their son's unusual achievement.
"He has to be good at something, this is just as well," Gordon Dean said. "He set a goal and reached it."
Awww...the parents are proud. How sweet! ;)
No word on what they actually watched. I bet somebody here could easily beat this with a set of Stargate DVDs and some Jolt cola. :p However, if the rules require that it be broadcast TV, my mind would be Jell-O by about the 15-minute mark.

I don't know if this counts. But this was back two years ago when I got into the 'Gate. My roommate had seasons one through 6x11. Needless to say I got hooked, and I saw everything in order for two and a half weeks. I would get up...watch an episode, go to work, come back, watch till midnight or one in the morning...repeat. On weekends it was just stargate...that's all i did for two and a half weeks. :D

I pounded down 5 seasons in about a week that summer.
It messed up my brain to the point where I couldn't stop hearing the music in my head and I dreamed about the episodes several times.
I'm about to start doing it with Aeon Flux the series now over Christmas break so hopefuly the dreams will be more interesting this time.:D

This is a rare coincidence. Me and 11 of my gatehead friends got together 3 weekends ago on friday night and watched the entire series from my DVD collection. S1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 of SG1 and S1 SGA. We then decided to watch S2-2.5 SGA AND S9-9.5 SG1 alternating episodes. Those I had taped on VCR. We pulled three consecutive all nighters and the only time our eyes were off the tv was to eat and of course when nature calls. We finished the entire thing at about 3am monday morning. We didn't go to school on monday and woke up at about 6pm on tuesday. Our eyes were all bloodshot and it looked like we blazed. We were really messed up. I'm never doing it again.

I had seen all the episodes on Showtime before but it sure was and still is nice to view them on DVD. I did'nt watch seasons IV-VIII with as much vigor as I did the earlier seasons, I would watch like 1 disk a day till I had gone through the whole season.

This is a tough question for me. I'd have to say 20 without sleep. I watched all of the season 7 dvd one day except Resurrection and Inaguration.
Also I like to watch miny marathons of related episodes like the plotline of anubis or episodes featuring the Prometheus. Sometimes I'll spend all day only watching extra features and behind the scenes featurettes.
But my favorite thing to do is to record the new episdoes as they air, back-2-back, no comercials, no opening or closing credits, and then watch the entire season as one "big" episode, approximatly 14 hrs.

Depends, I sometimes watch it while I work, etc. so I've gone through at least half a season or more on occasion lol

Two or three times a year i have a week where i will not be able to sleep at all. Generaly in the fall or the spring. Yes thats right up for a full week. Not for a lack of trying to sleep.
Anyway. When it happend back in the beginning of November i watched:
The movie, then s1 - s7 taking a 10 - 15 min break at the end of every DVD.
I hate those weeks but this time sence i did the Stargate marithon to end all marithons It wasn't so bad. And i plan to do it again the next time i get in to one of those weeks.

Eight or nine, maybe more.
As soon as I get a new DVD box set, the TV is commandeered so that I can watch it - ostensibly to check to make sure that they are all working so I can return it if need be - and I usually do it over the course of three sittings if work or college doesn't get in the way.

Strange, because Stargate makes my headaches go away. Anyway, I have watched 17 episodes in a row, from noon to 3 am, with breaks to get food and go to the bathroom. I can tell from reading some of the other posts that I have a lot of work to do!

and then I joined Gateworld!
I used to watch it live, since the first episode, until the TV channel here paused it, waiting for season 7 to finish in the USA..

I just set aside a day on the weekend and I do nothing but watch SG-1 from season's beginning to season's end. Well when ever I rewatch it I usually start at the begining and watch 5-6 episodes a day, but this is quite a story. When my wife and I first started living together I told her I liked a particular scifi show which she had never seen and wasnt fond of Scifi. It was about 2 weeks before season 7 was to start back up and she saw 5 minutes of Homecoming on Scifi and was hooked, and we started watching the show and got through 6 and 1/2 seasons in less than a week.

Truly 4 considering there are 4 on each DVD disc, and if you have to stop to change it, won't be straight. I have recently acquired 2 more boxsets recently and have been through 4 a day with the features. If you want to know about my holidays, I think i've gone through about 8 episodes with a few breaks. I've done a whole season in 1 day - gotta love the DVD's. I have a very bad habit of when I take a "mental health" sick day of plopping myself in my living room chair with a large beverage container and some munchies and watching them on the home theater. Or if there's a snow day and my wife still has to work. When my wife is into the episodes as well then it gets interesting. We did season 7 of SG-1 on a Saturday, and seasons 3-5 of B5 after work (she gets home at 3PM, I was home at 3:30). in 1 week.

Granted, I had to pause to get up, go to the bathroom, eat, etc. It took me about 12 days to watch the entire of SG-1. I think I'm going to try it with Atlantis next.

Well, I only jsut got my S10 DVDs and I watched that all straight in one go, that's 20. But my all time record would be season 8 which was 22. I was a wet and I just stayed in the whole day lol

When I first started watching SG-1 it was because of season 8. My boyfriend made me watch an episode and.. i was hooked... however, I needed to watch all the other seasons before i could watch season 8, i mean, come on, its only right. I think i watched a season a day,for an entire week to catch up to season 9 (at the time). So, i guess that's about 20 episodes. But, to be fair, i think i watched about 15 in a day, and then the rest the next day. But, you get my point. xD

I think I have watched 8 or 9 in a row before. I think when I got S4 on DVD I watched two whole discs one after another so that would be either 8 or 9 (or 10 but I don't think I watched both 5 ep discs together) depending on what discs they were. I could probably watch an entire season of the gate in one sitting if I had to, though I'd rather watch my fav 22 eps rather than a whole season since that would mix it up more.

OK done season 1 - 6 of sg-1 all in one go and would have done more if i hade the others at that point have them now and i would love to do all 10 seasons in a row when i have about a week or more free. I was pretty shattered after doing the 6 so i wonder how shattered i would be after doing all 10. lets calculate how many season that is....131 eps in a row.

So it means you only stopped to sleep & pee ? (I assume you can eat in front of the TV...) because "watched straight" means, I think, watch without a break!
Congratulations!

Yip thats right, ate infront of the TV and only stopped to sleep (which was not very much) and pee (which you have to wait till the end of either the ep or season depending on my mood at the time).

wow! you have me beat.
i think for me, it was the first 11 episodes of season 4 in one evening, it went by quickly, but it was great! i've started to watch one episode every night, starting at Children of the gods of course, and i'm working my way up. tonight is Thor's Hammer, and it will be a good one!!!

Ah good ol thors hammer like that one. I try to watch one every night (its a new development) Ive watched them from start to finish 3 times so i desided to watch them randomly before doing all 10 seasons, maybe ill wait till atleast one of the movies is out so i can add that to the list

My next marathon would be to watch all the episodes with the audio commentaries.....:daniel: I just wish they would re-edit the first 3 seasons with commentaries. The situation now is just unacceptable! :mckay:

I dont like the commentaries for Stargate which is wierd cause i watch the commentaries of everything. I watched Season three all the way through with only breaks to pee(like maybe twice) i got it for this past Christmas, and i watched the entire thing straight away. I only have up to season four however, when i get money im going to buy more seasons and hopefully have a marathon of all eight season (maybe nine and ten if they are out by that time. ^_^ and i managed to watch three seaons of Atlantis in a week.(i skipped a few of the first season though)

i was really bored so i decided to watch all of the episodes straight through. my parents weren't too happy with me commandeering the television for a better part of a week. but i had fun doing it.
