If I were to activate PM's, I need to know if messages you recieve load onto your computer, like emails, or onto a gateworld page like rep comments. If they load onto your computer straight, that makes things hard if you are on another computer to your own, like say a library computer.

Sorry, I'm in a pretty lazy mood today.

they don't download to your puter unless you want them to. do you have hotmail or yahoo? you can check those mails via the web, adn the pm's work the same way

i took that scene as sam was just coming back from the planet, still suffering from learning/seeing about janet's death. i thought the airmen were escorting sam to the infirmary, but not out of her being in trouble, but because she was so distraught and they were protecting her to sorts. notice when sam went into the infirmary, and bregman tried to follow; look how many ppl blocked his path. i was taking that as everyone looking out for sam. i could be wrong, but that's how i enterpreted that scene.

I agree with you Sally and Uber - I saw those other soldiers as providing Sam some protection - they were looking out for her.

i never realized that they were escorting her TO the infirmary. I thought that she'd already been there or was coming from the gateroom and had already had her emotional scene

She looked as if she had just come in from the battlefield. I think she was on her way to the infirmary to confirm what she had heard about Janet and to check on Jack.

Me either. I guess I thought she was heading to the locker room.

IMHO, it was truly one of the best episodes ever. The scene between Sam and Hammond was just brilliant (and makes me miss Don Davis even more).

And the truth is there is loss, especially in war. So from that standpoint, I get what they did. On the other hand, I really miss Janet. She was such a fantastic, well-written and well-played character. I miss the friendship she and Sam shared.

But I finally went over to that Save Janet website and signed the petition for them to bring back Teryl in some capacity. Her absence truly is leaving a gaping hole in the landscape of the show...

What I've been pondering is this...would her return (in any capacity) somehow lessen Heroes?

And I have to wonder how Sam would respond seeing her again...(My story...ECLIPSE...spoilers)
                Spoiler:
which is why I really wanted to write a scene or two of them interacting again
                .
There's a great fanfic about Sam, the effects of what Niirti did in Metamorphosis and then a rewrite of Heroes - very well done - (and it's long, another big plus) - has lots of angst and some great scifi... Sam goes through the emotional wringer. If you haven't read it already, I think you'd like it... just wish I could remember the name of it right now... someone already recommended it earlier on this thread... so I need some help from folks with better memories than mine for things like story titles

I thought she looked like she'd just come back too (just out of the 'Gate) and I thought she didn't know yet about the 'final condition' of either Janet or Jack. For all she knew she'd lost both?

I got the sense that Bregman was waiting as close as he could to the gateroom...that hallway...to get the first on the scene interview with whoever he could. In this case, it was Sam.

I think this is Sam coming directly from the gateroom. She already knows about Janet (because she died instantly) and it took a long time for them to secure the gate's perimeter long enough for the evac.

She however does not know how Jack is...so we're seeing the anger at Bregman for getting into her face while she's trying to deal with an incredibly personal loss and possibly bracing herself for another. She didn't have time to take in what had happened yet; and although Sam is a distinguished officer who understands the cost of war and has to deal with loss all the time, the wounds were just so fresh...literally moments after the high-pitched reality of the battlefield. And that's what we saw...the kneejerk reaction to losing her best friend and the fear she felt that she'd lose Jack too.

That's how I took it too, Dr. Uber!

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure where she was heading. The director (?) on the commentary said he and AT had some discussions about the different times & ways we see her grief. With Hammond kind of shocky calm and then really letting go when she is trying to write the eulogy for Janet. Between her raw emotion and Teal'c's quiet emotion--and hugging her-- I bawl every time I see that scene. I must have seen the episode about 4 times now.

I posted this in the THREADS thread a while back because I started getting irritated at how some people were upset by Sam's supposed lack of an emotional response when....

                          <<<<<THREADS SPOILER>>>>>

                          ....her father died.

                          Loss is a funny thing.

You can be matter-of-fact about it at first, it's just information that you're taking in.

But then some time passes...and all the sudden, you're in the grocery store, and you're thinking about picking up a few steaks to grill while you're father's in town...

...and before you know it, you're bawling uncontrollably in the frozen food section of Food City.

Well said. And really another argument for some mention of Janet. Some situation where they would have normally expected 'ol Doc Fraiser (as O'Neill liked to say) to solve, some surprise for a second at finding another Dr. in *Janet's* infirmary even after weeks...

                                true story:

there was a family who lost thier son. right before he died he'd broken apart a 5 pound block of hamburger into smaller packages. the boys' father says he'll never throw away that hamburger because it was the last thing the boy touched.

dates strike you. this was her birthday/anniversary

getting aletter in the mail or remembering that you wont' get your customary box of valentine's chocolate because she always bought it for you

lots of little things jump up to grab you
