Sorry about that folks, sometimes when 'in my own field' I forget that others might not know what I'm going on about. My students usually stick a hand up and say something like 'What's See Oh Two' and then I have to stop and realize that not everyone speaks in the same shorthand... erm.. Of course, if I'm going to be compared to Sam... just might do it some more...

So... USGS = United States Geological Survey
and JPL = Jet Propulsion Lab (which deepspace got correct )
CalTech = California Polytechnic University (in Southern California)
SURF... aeromathlete will have to fill that acronym in for us
and... See Oh Two = CO2 = carbon dioxide

And now to admit my own ignorance... for the year before I found this thread I was reading fanfic... wrote a little of it... and sent feedback emails to other writers... occassionally one of them would send me a note back and it would include the acronym RL in it... I was clueless... and folks kept saying that the RL was piling up... I figured that they had a lot of fanfic that they wanted to read... It wasn't until I'd been on this thread for a month or so that I finally got it... RL = Real Life! D'oh! Guess if I spent more time there, I'd have recognized the acronym more quickly!

Unfortunately I've been playing online games/bullletin boards, ect for nearly twenty years so I often forget that the net lingo isn't familiar to everyone.

If you have any questions about net acronyms, I've found a site that has a pretty good dictionary that is searchable.

MSN is Microsoft's version of Instant Messager... you may have heard of ICQ ( Not positive but I think it stands for 'I Seek You' Instant Messages ), or AIM (AOL's Instant Message Service). Anyone not familiar with these services, but who would like to learn how to use one, just give me a hollar. I can try to ease you through. They are pretty nice ways of chatting to people online in real-time.

So, instead of working on my book like a good girl this afternoon, I decided to start compiling the ultimate Sam-Whumping Fanfiction List. In these stories, Sam may or may not be the focus of the story, but she is whumped in some form or fashion (or she is dealing with the aftermath of whumping). I will be adding more later (I've missed many good ones), but for now, this is my start, in no particular order:

Thanks guys. I've also had a cold or flu these past few days... I guess I've been using that as an excuse to lie in bed in a lazy depression. I don't know.
It sounded to me like majorsam's been having a rough time of RL too. She mentioned a funeral . Doesn't sound good.
But I'd like to thank majorsam for the very long post she wrote (the 5 or something pages one in MS Word?). I loved it. I found myself nodding and agreeing with just about everything she said. Great post, and I'd give rep, but it won't allow me, probably because she was the last person I've repped for quite a while. I need to get my jello out sometime and give you all some, gee you've all deserved it for everything you've been posting here.

Yeah, the day I got back from France my grandpa died...

And then my army people screwed me over majorly regarding massive plans I have in the next while due to a French girl staying with me for hte next 8 days, and now i'm being threatened with losing my position, because they decided to go and change ALL the dates for ALL the major things this year...
after humiliating me in front of all the lower ranks whom i'm supossed to be a role model for... then they changed the date of the MOST MAJOR exercise of the year, the one i love with all my soul, to the weekend that my play is going up, so I miss that too...

then this other thing happened... then my friend got... and then...and THAT's screwed up too...

ack, oh well, i'm not one to usually complain, i'll get over it all!!! *Thinks of Friday Night *

ah, yes, I think I read in my Stargate magazine (yes, I got my very first Stargate magazine last week ) that... is it Fandemonium?... books is publishing Stargate books, I assume, written by fans. I was wondering if I would ever see one written by any of you guys.

In years past, i've seen MS face plastered on nude male bodies. Or i've seen AT and RDA's faces placed over a male and female in a clench and other such things. Someone once put fake boobies on one of AT's femme fatale shots, or put RDA's head on a nude male.

many of the times, it's meant innocently, however out of respect to the actors, we've tried to get folks to think a little more about what they're doing. hence the rule

all of the manips i've seen in this thread...while a few may be spooky , are still in good taste
