My goodness but you people are prolific (even with the forum acting up!). I got back from my trip Monday, and I haven't managed to catch up yet.

I was in Washington for a Women in the Fire Service Conference. These are gals after my own heart. At the dinner
and fundraising auction Friday night, the Marriott served fancy
cuisine to 500 beer drinking, meat and potato eating, butch babes and fireman Sam type women. The first course came out, and our table of ten stared at our plates. "What is it?" someone asked. "I think it's supposed to be the salad course," someone else answered. "So, we're supposed to use this fork, right?" another woman asked.

I was highly amused. Birds of a feather, for sure. Not many salad forks being used in the firehouses of the world.

Heyyyyyy ... and what's Fraiser? Chopped liver? I think not! Besides, Doc Janet has been paired in fanfic with just about everybody imaginable ... including Heimdall! (A scenario that would require Teryl Rothery to make love to herself.)

No but unfortunately they didn't seem to think Fraiser worthy of an episode as a lead character( outside of Rites of Passage). Felger managed to get two, but not our beloved Fraiser. They have already said that Vala is pretty much replacing Sam until AT returns and there is a possibility that she will be used even more if AT's schedule is reduced at all during the year. Also, I have a feeling they may be using the new CMO much more than we saw with Fraiser. But if we are really lucky CJ will write that AU episode he was talking about and we'll get to see Fraiser again at least once. One can always hope.

I totally fit in with that group of women. I am totally uncivilized when it comes to fine dining. My husband and I went on a cruise last December and I had to laugh whenever we ate in the dining rooms because I could never tell which fork I was suppose to use with each course. I would just stare at my husband and shrug as I picked up each piece of silverware. Luckily our waiter was very kind and helped me out without too much embarrassement on my part. Maybe that's why I love Stargate so much. Nothing fancy about our gal Sam. In fact I love that AT does simple things like keeps her finger nails cut short with no polish. In fact I could have sworn there were certain episodes that if you did a close up of her hands she even had dirt under her nails.

Edit: Hmm, I know this may sound weird but are most of our regular posters female? With AD representing our male contingents? I know we have some lurkers out there as well who keep popping in. Just thought I'd ask because I found myself wanting to respond to an earlier post with 'Yes, Ma'am' but thought I better make sure before I assumed and embarrassed myself.

I really enjoyed this ep because I loved 2010 to begin with...so great followup story. Plus, from a Sam perspective, it was cool seeing her rappel off the harvester...

I felt the same way about both 2010 and 2001 episodes ... they were two sides of the same coin and the writers did a great job.

As to the final moment of angst, did anyone read an AT interview recently where she actually says that she got hurt doing that scene?

And Agent Dark gets it *again*... wow... I can't believe that I finally found a pic that folks were stumped on for awhile! It's one of the very few Season 8 pics with Sam in the field... she has a hat on to make 'hair-to-season-identification' more difficult... and my first impression was that it looked a lot like Avenger too, walter_MacChevron, so you're certainly not alone there. But then I realized that the DHD was in the wrong place (just like Über pointed out). Beings that Sam didn't get to do much of this in Season 8, I figured folks would probably guess something before S8.

So my hat's off to Agent Dark! (and to everyone who guessed)

Dear Royal Head of Security

According to the Royal Accountant, there have been some strange sightings in Samanda recently - furtive movements on the highways and byways.

She has spotted a rather suspicious gentleman walking his single-speed bicycle on some occasions and hiding amongst the bushes near the Gate at other times. When approached, the elusive gent actually pulls a bandana over his face and sprints away before making conversation.

Who could this mysterious lurker be? And what are his intentions? He has also been seen looking up into the sky as if following some kind of flying machine and, once, holding the leash of a rather large and spirited dog which seemed to be leading him right off the path and into the nearby woods. Again, who is our mystery man? A spy, perhaps? Or just a shy stranger?

Now it is true that the royal bean counter has been known to tipple from the liquor cabinet on occasion, but I assure you that she was clear-headed when she observed the stranger in our midst.

As Royal Head of Security, I implore you to investigate this matter and keep your eyes open to any stray cycles or discarded bandanas lying about. You could then follow the lurker's footprints. It seems that walking, rather than riding said cycle, may be his common method of travel. The man may just want to be let in to our fair kingdom and then be directed to the royal gym where he could properly train and build enough stamina and muscle to successfully maneuver along the mountain roads on his cycle, rather than beside it. And perhaps he could become an able aide in the department of security and add to the further safety of our fair community.

Shouldst you need more information on this lurker, I suggest contacting our Royal Accountant. He has been shadowing her for days on end.

One final appeal to our mystery man. Come out, come out, whoever you are! We are a friendly, albeit eccentric, crowd and welcome all newcomers to our kingdom. Heaven knows, with the ratio of females to males in this region, we can certainly use the opinions and camaraderie of another able male. Of course, you must pledge your allegiance to our fair Queen and promise to watch the epic of the Stargate on your communication device. I believe that the Royal Accountant is willing and able to help you to adjust to these demands.
