`Stargate Atlantis' is Television's #1 Friday Night Draw Among Young
Men
Record Ratings Every Month in 2004
NEW YORK -- August 31, 2004 –- With the end of the season upon us,
SCI FI Channel, driven by the powerhouse Stargate franchise,
delivered its best summer (June-August) ratings ever. Stargate
Atlantis, approaching its summer finale (September 17), has been the
#1 Friday night entertainment program (non-sports) on both cable and
broadcast with M18-49 since its July 16 premiere. Stargate Atlantis
has averaged a 2.4 HH rating and 3.1 million viewers (P2+) since its
premiere, up +50% in HH ratings and +72% in viewers (P2+) from
Stargate SG-1's record-breaking 2003 summer season. Just as
impressively, since its July 9th premiere, companion series Stargate
SG-1 has averaged a 2.1 HH rating and 2.7 million viewers (P2+), +31%
in HH ratings and +50% in viewers (P2+) vs. Stargate SG-1's summer
2003 average.
Overall, SCI FI delivered a record-breaking 1.1 HH rating for June-
August. With double-digit increases in primetime ratings (+10% to 1.1
HH) and viewership (+17% to 1.2 million P2+) over summer 2003, SCI FI
ranks 9th among all non-news, ad-supported entertainment cable
networks for the same period. August 2004 also weighs in as the
Channel's highest-rated August ever (1.1 HH), scoring a +16% (P2+)
increase in viewership over August 2003 (1.2 million vs. 1.1
million).
This summer, the Channel soared in key demos, with more double digit-
increases:
·606,000 delivery P18-49HH, +13% vs. June-August 2003
·695,000 delivery P25-54HH, +14% vs. June-August 2003
Also, SCI FI's prime ranked Top 10 among all measured basic cable
networks in the following demos:
