View Full Version : More of the ancients in STA?

Is it just me that loves the episodes where the ancients show themselves? I would like to see more of this in STA in particular.
I would like to see more ancients making contact with the SGA team, and every once in a while, a dissenting ancient that helps them. :)
I guess I just generally love the ancients! :) What does everyone think about this?

I'm actually the opposite, I'm kind of tired of the ancients, everything that ever happens revolves around them. I like them to branch away from the ancients but it's kind of impossible now as in SGA they're living in an ancient city, fighting the ancients enemies and in SG-1 they're fighting the ancients ultimate enemy. Also there's the fact that they're supposed to be wiped out yet more and more keep popping up :o, they were better as a mysterious race imo but that's jsut my opinion.

If it means Melia McClure appears in another episode; I'm all for it.
You sometimes wonder if the "anti-ugly" genetic manipulation seen in SG-1's: Brief Candle; was really Goauld in origin....

That could be interesting? Like maybe "levels of ascension" or something? Something like, the ancients have ascended to level one, but there are beings that ascended thousands of years earlier than the ancients and they reside in a higher up level 2 and so on?
That could make for some interesting storylines.... :)

I agree with you 100% about being tried of the Ancients.
I’d rather see them explore the Wraith more on SGA.

Well considering that STA is basically following in the footsteps of the ancients and their tech, Yes, I feel we should be seeing more of them too.
I feel that even if they do not help us/interfere they should at least come to us every so often and explain things - how it happened, what went wrong, why they did it etc. I don't think they have any rules against that.
Problem with the ancients is that they're simply too snotty for their own good. They don't really give a damn about us - Even with the impressive hologram lady and her impressive speech about seeding new life to exchange knowledge etc. That was their presentation speech to make them look like the great race. In reality, they were not great at all. They stuffed up, were shortsighted and for the most advanced race in the universe were defeated incredibly easily.
Still think they should be in STA more though - so we can at least learn more about them and solve some more mysteries of the ancients etc.

Well, if it's any consolation for yall...
A few actors that played some of the Ancients in Return, Pt 1, will show up again in one or two episodes later this season.

To be honest, constantly showing Ancients that arent ascended live and well kind of destroys that image of an ancient advanced race that is long gone.

They just seem like arrogant B#stards to me, I'm glad they got face-shafted by the Wraith in Pegasus.

The beings from Crystal Skull. Then when they say that they can only interfere when those that aren't supposed to do. The Daniel can say taht the Ancients have similar rules and they can say they are their rules.

I agree. The Stargate universe seemed larger before the Ancients were linked to ascension and had a great civilization in the Milky Way. Prior to season 6, I had thought of the Ancients as nomads and they wanted to connect the universe together. Now they're responsible for all life in our galaxy and for the creation of every enemy that we've visited. Oh, and instead of us just being an alien species that went through the process of evolution, we're now a "seeded" race where decades of evolutionary research is now nullified in the Stargate universe. The writers simplified the Stargate universe a great deal.

You already have. Anubis and a lot of the people in "Threads". They probably just took Ancient/Human form or they were actual humans.

While this is true, the ascended Ancients we see over at SG1 kind of ruin that image as well. The moment you actually get to see something,t hat's when your imagination stops kicking in and the harsh reality comes forth (that they're idiots, the lot of them. No wonder they got extinct! twice!)

What has arrogance got to do with anything?

I just thought that to ascend you had to reach complete enightenment, isn't that what the Monk was on about in Kheb?

That's only when you've got an Ancient helping you. It was theorised in the show that you need to have advanced to a certain point where you are using 80-90 percent of your brain etc etc before you can willfully ascend...

In the episode "Prototype" of Season 9
Remember they found that ancient brain scanning device in anubis'es cloning lab which monitors what parts of the brain are "active" and they stated that once your brain reaches a certain point you can either wilfully ascend or will automatically ascend when the body dies "

Well the Monk guy on Keb became an ascended being. So did Daniel, the people of Abydos and the people trapped in the the time distortion field in Atlantis season 2 and none of them were Ancients. So we have seen ascended beings that were not originally Ancient.
