When the Ancients brought human life to the Milkyway and Pegasus why did they create lesser versions of themselves? It does not make sense to me.

That's what I have always wondered, why didn't the Ancient just colonize planets themselves?

maybe because after a long time they would be on many many planets and make it look like they ran the galaxy and they dont seem like that, they just kept the city to the city.
