Hello MC, Darren, et.al.,

Can't even remember how I first became interesting in Science Fiction; been reading it since I was a kid. I've been with Stargate since the very first episode and will continue to watch until the curtain goes down. I live in Maine, am a huge Babylon 5 fan and generally love anything to do with space/astronomy. You have some interesting discussions going on and I'm enjoying reading through them; looks like it will be a fun place to play. This is my first involvement with online fandom of any kind, so I'll probably just stay out in the vastness of lurkdom for a bit and get a feel for things before I say much. :D

I've been coming to Gateworld now since the fall i think... didn't really like the style of the delphi forums so never really visited there much. I'm not sure how long i've watched stargate or how i started, but i'm a huge fan of it :D (and star trek, among many other things). I hail from the home of stargate, Vancouver, Canada (and somewhat have an underlying anger/annoyance that it is filmed here and we must wait a year before the newest episodes are shown on tv :mad: ) and am just finishing up my first year at university, so I hope to show my face here with some regularity!

Can't wait for the new season and Atlantis!

Greetings all! First time member here. Kudos on the new board! It's much more easy to navigate and use, so I decided to join rather than just sit back and watch like the old one.

Been a Stargate fan for awhile, loved the original movie. Only recently got seriously into the series tho. I love all the SG1 charaters, especially Daniel.

Other stuff about me...I'm 23, female. I'm currently a full time college student, art ed major. Other sci-fi shows I like include Babylon 5, Star Trek:TNG, and Farscape. But SG1's definetly at the top of my list currently. I'm also really into anime and Asian movies.

I've been visiting gateworld whenever I was lost in one of the episodes or when I needed to know something for quite some time. I finally made up my mind and joined the forum.

Been watching Stargate since it came out what seems to be ages ago lol. Bt not only SG, first sf show I ever saw was Star Trek TOS, I grew up with that lol. It was cheesy, yes, but it had some charm where Voyager or Enterprise can just uhmmm... die under a tree. The last show before SG that really caught me was B5, I loved it, and still do (apart from the final season, that was just cheap, I still hate the last CO).

Lately I've been much into japanese movies (well, to be more precicely, all of japan in general *is like a sponge, sucks up all knowledge*) and still love good old Quentin Tarantino.

If anyone wants to know more... ask my first prime, or one of the lower ranking goa'uld around, Mikaboshi and Ekibiogami... sure you can ask me as well... if you manage to get near me :D

I really should stop making up RPG characters... lol... that happens when you're bored...

Hello, I'm Indy. I never joined the old forums. I did not like the style of them. I always preferred the VBulletin/UBB style. I am mainly reading posts at the moment. I should probably post something here . . . I've been a Stargate fan (as in watching it incessantly) for about a year now, though I saw a few episodes in syndication before I really got into it. I basically started watching on Sci-Fi on Monday nights last summer because I was working ten hours a day and living all alone in an apartment, so I didn't have much of a social life! :p A friend of mine really was the one who encouraged me to watch, and it got me through my otherwise boring summer.

So, yeah. Um, I'm a graduate student, studying microbiology. I'm a fan of sci-fi, though I never could stand any of the Star Trek shows. I am a fan of Quantum Leap (there's an old one) and The X-Files, and have been trying to find time to watch some of the newer sci-fi shows.

I've never been directly involved with an online fandom, but I do tend to lurk, and was so impressed with the new board layout I felt compelled to join. So that's that. :)

I have only participated in one other BBoard and it didn't take me too long to figure that one out, so hopefully it will be the same case here! I have been watching SG-1 for about 2 years, I own them all on DVD so I have seen just about every episode! There are still a couple that sneak up on me that I have not seen! As you can tell by my screen name I am a Michael Shanks devotee! Lexa is such a lucky girl, isn't she? I am from Missouri and I have a 4 year old that keeps me pretty busy, as well as working a full time job! I will be a Mon-Fri poster as I do not have much of a chance to get on line away from the office. I look forward to meeting new friends here, I already recognize a couple names from the other BBoard! Hi! I love GateWorld but was never really fond of Delphi, the blinking adverts gave me fits... not literally. ;)
Saw the movie a 'few' times, :D if by few you mean 20. Saw the show in syndi a couple times but could never really get into it since I never quite caught an entire episode...
Really got into it this season and now own a couple of box sets (more to follow when I have the $) and watch on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and well you get the idea... :) That is when I am not studying for Anthro finals and writing papers for my profs...

I have been a fan of Stargate since the movie and watched SG-1 from day one on Showtime. I am a big fan of all things Trek, Star Wars, B5, and most general Sci-Fi & Fantasy genres.

well this isnt my first time at Gateworld has i have been an avid reader of this site for a long time, loving the new forum!!!!!!!!its sooo good.

Well i have been in to all things sci fi and other shows for a very long time now, i watched the x-files from when it first on the BBC over here and fell in love with it and have been a major big fan all the way through (even series 5,8,9) then i got into everything else like THe Next Generation, Quantum Leap, Buffy, ect (also Ref Dwarf!i know its a comedy to).

The i found stargate and loved that show from the beginning!!its a fantastic show, great acting, scripts, effects and all that. its a great whole 45 minutes of escapism (Sp???)

I thought I might introduce myself as well....I'm rather old compared to some of you, I'm 31 already.... ;)
I'm working on my PhD right now, I'm doing linguistics and Egyptology, and I have to admit that Stargate (the film) was one of the reasons that finally made me make up my mind to do Egyptology as well...I know, that sounds weird :rolleyes:

Some of my friends keep accusing me of sounding like Daniel sometimes...I know why I like him :D

Apart from that, I'm a thoroughbred geek girl, having been raised on Star Trek and such shows since I was about 5 years old (my mother's fault, she's into that stuff as well)

I also write and draw and take artsy photographs and delight in being a pain in the a**** (I once almost got kicked out of the cinema when watching "The Mummy" and I started complaining about the Egyptian they spoke :cool: )

I'm a newbie droppin' by to say Howdy!

I was introduced to Stargate in the movie theater when it first came out and was an instant fan of the movie. It took a bit for me to see the shows because of my lack of cable/dish access, but now I'm catching up through watching the DVD boxed sets. I really enjoy watching all the actors and characters, their interactions are what make the show fun to watch!

Other scifi I love, Firefly for sure (the movie starts filming very very soon! Yay! ), I used to be a fan of Roswell, then it turned odd ;)...Star Trek, Star Wars, Pitch Black, etc... Love it all (mostly ;) ) I'm known as Kliska/Kaliska on several different boards...

Other info about me; married to a Clinical Psychologist, Ph.D., just graduated with my MS in counseling psych, love to hike, read, draw, and take pictures. I enjoy studying many things independently; religion, ancient and modern cultures, physics, and...dogs ;)

Hello there, I just gated in from offworld and thought I'd try and get to know a few people here.

A little about myself:

I recently got hooked on Stargate SG-1 through my wife. I'd seen a couple episodes a few years back before I got married, and own the movie on VHS tape. While I thought what I saw was cool, I just simply never took the time to sit down and watch the show on a regular basis. Over time, it pretty much went out-of-sight, out-of-mind I'm afraid. I've always been a Star Trek fan (more of the newer Generations than Classic, but to me it's all good) and have been buying the box sets as I can. Now I've got all of Next Gen, DS9 and am starting on Voyager.

My wife had been watching Stargate SG-1 on Sci-Fi channel religiously while I was at work at my old job--I worked for a Panasonic branch's manufacturing facility, second shift. She knew I was a big science fiction buff, and she is to a degree as well, and knew I enjoyed watching the episodes of Star Trek in the box set format. She had seen the Stargate SG-1 box sets in the store and urged me to begin purchasing them in an effort to get hooked on it. Well, darn it, it worked. I surprised her a few months ago when I ordered Season 1 off the net and sat down to watch it with her. I remember seeing "Children of the Gods" a few years back on Showtime when it was first airing but I had forgotten how cool it was. Now, here I had a chance to sit and view the episodes in order without those annoying commercials getting in the way. :D Consequently, when we finished a box set, we'd go and purchase another one and now have all six that's released. I've seen only one episode from Season seven ("The Lost City, part II") so I'm actually at a loss for anything now pretty much past the last episode of season 6. I'm going to try and hold out and watch S7 when it comes out in box set, that is if I don't already get lost when watching Season 8 when it airs. I also eagerly await Atlantis. The Stargate universe is very cool, and am thrilled with the show thus far.

So, now that we've got my "'Gate background" out of the way, I just turned 29 years old. I currently work for Pepsi as a merchandiser. I'm an avid collector of Transformers toys (mainly the ones from the 80's, but I like almost all of them) and currently run a website specifically for collectors, TransformersHomage.com. I love science fiction, as I stated earlier, and Major League Baseball (don't have a particular favorite team, but I'm partial to the Braves, Marlins, D-Backs, and Devil Rays).

That's about it for me, how 'bout you guys and gals? :)

Its been a while.....a long while. Probably 99.999999% of people here wouldn't be familiar with me. I never really posted on the Delphi forums (maybe 3-4 posts), but I am one of the very very old guard. I came to Gateworld's forums back in the days before Delphi when Darren's site was still in its infancy. If memory serves, it was August 2000 and I went under the username of Apophis. Since then I've been using the the Username of Daniel Jackson at the Star Trek website Section31.com/Lowerdecks.com.
Unfortuately, D'J's and Apophis' name were taken so I decided on Indy for reasons that will become apparent soon.
I'd just like to say that its good to be back. I think I will make this forum my new home as my previous home at Section31.com/Lowerdecks.com no longer holds my interest as much as it used to. Besides Gateworld was the first forum I ever registered at so it makes sense to come back to where it all began.
I look forward to getting to know many of you in the months and years ahead, and although I am not a daily poster, I will endeavour to keep up with the discussions. See you all in the forums! :) :)

Hey I just joined up in the forums, although i have been visiting the Gateworld site for months. This is a really great site for Stargate news and information! I used to to post at sg1archive.com but have moved over to Gateworld because it is a more active site.

I have been a Stargate fan since I accidently stumbled on the series premiere way back in the day and have been watching it ever since. I have seen the show grow from its humble beginnings to today where it is a science fiction show to be reckoned with. :eek:

I'm a newbie to any kind of forum and I seem to keep wondering if I'm acting stupid! It's incredible. Even my name makes me sound like a dork... everything else I wanted was taken, and this popped into my head.

I stumbled upon Stargate when I turned early to watch Farscape... and never watched it until around September 2003. I'd seen the movie, but the series made no sense for a while until I realized who was who and what was really going on.

Hi, everybody! I'm a sci-fi fan from birth. I watched the movie but since the show started on Showtime, I never tried to watch it. The first time I tried to watch an episode start to finish was S7's "Space Race." I was so impressed with how Carter was a 3- dimensional person (as opposed to a padded bimbo in a catsuit) that I gave the series a try on Sci-fi Mondays.

Just weeks later, I bought my S1 DVDs and it was all over from there. ;)

I'm all caught up on SG1 now, and I'm about to BURST now that Atlantis is about to debut.

I live in the US and I'm a historian. I LUV to write but I've never gotten the guts up to write sci-fi.

I am one of the lucky few to have seen SG-1 from the VERY beginning. Yep, big time couch potato.

I have seasons 1-6 on DVD, season 7 on order and usually tape the curent season on VHS so if your dog eats your DVD or what ever, ask me, I might be able to help :D .

I have only been reading this Bboard for a few days now but I recognize more than a few names here. Those of you who remember me from the scifi board already know most of my quirks, the rest of you will just have to get used to me ;) .

Greetings fellow SG-1 fans,

I'm of course new here, and am admittedly sketchy at best with my knowledge of SG-1, thanks in no small part to the local FOX station bouncing it around for the last few years. However, I just got basic cable for the first time in about 3 years, and am on a forced feeding of SG-1. I have seen eps from each season including the pilot, but only on occasion. However, I hope to rectify this deficiency soon enough with help from Sci-Fi reruns, 'net primers, and one day the DVDs, none of which I presently own. A friend of mine encouraged me to get into it again, this time with full force and attention.

I really do wish to learn all there is, since this is definitely one of the best shows on TV. Shows like SG-1 put most network television shows to shame. They should be looking to SG-1 for inspiration and actual writing tips.

After seeing the last few weeks on SciFi, I knew I was away for far too long (and in retrospect, should've been here from day one), but am willing to learn about the SG-1 universe.

Who knows? Maybe one day I'll get one of those cool jackets...

I am a 20 year old guy who has been a fan of Science Fiction for a while, love TV, Movies and Books....

My first experience with SG1, was when Space was running the Stargate SG1 marathon here in Canada. I watched Forever In A Day and I was hooked. I watched The Fifth Race and Window Of Opportunity, before making the decision to buy the first three seasons on DVD. They came and 3 weeks later after watching 2-4 episodes a day, I was out buying seasons 4 and 5. Spent a week on both of those, got season six which took me three days because I knew I had get started 'acquiring' season seven. That took a while to get and watch. So 2 months after first watching that episode of Forever In A Day I was fully caught up! At first I loved Carter, was meh about Teal'C and Jack, and hated Daniel. Now Carter and Daniel share the top spot, with Teal'C and Jack close behind.

As for other SciFi, I was a fan of Star Trek TNG and Voyager. Before SG1 my favourite SciFi series was, and still maybe - yet tied with SG1 - Farscape. Who says you can't be a fan of both. I also liked V, but not the show, the two mini-series. They were great, well the first one anyway.

I also enjoy reading SciFi books. The DS9 and Voyager Relaunch are great. So are the 6 main books in the Dune series, although the middle are the superior ones. My favourites though are The 7 Book Ender/Bean series, with Ender's Game being tops from those and the 3 Main books in the Foundation Trilogy.

One thing I really enjoy about Stargate SG1 is the curiousity it sparks within me. Frequently after hearing the names of the gods in the show I would surf the net for more information on them. I can't think of a television show that I have done that because of before.

I've been a fan of Stargate since the film and the premiere of Children of The Gods ages ago on Channel 4 and season 8 looks like its gonna b one hell of a season.

Well, apparently I'm new....... :rolleyes: But I've been a fan of SG-1 for awhile. I've been hanging around Gateworld for awhile as well, but never got up the motivation to join. But I finally did, being motivated by the fact that there will be even more to talk about with Atlantis coming up. Also, this seemed like a much better place to argue about Stargate, than yelling at Family members. :p

My favorite character is Dr. Janet Fraiser, and my favorite episodes would have to be "Window of Opportunity", "Beneath the Surface", "Upgrades", and "Tangent". As you can probably tell, I like Season 4 the best. :rolleyes:

As for Stargate, I have been obsessed for about a year and a half or so....even though it feels like I've been a fan forever! I think what got me hooked was the character of Daniel. Mainly the fact that he is so passionate about learning and so intelligent. Hello, I'm a bit of a newbie to...well, everything Stargate. I saw the Stargate movie a LONG time ago, but never did get to watch it through to the end, and after that I sort of forgot it existed. Until, like, three months ago. That's when I discovered Stargate SG-1 and, uh, here I am! oo I think. Am I here?

...er, right, anyway, I am a male of 17 years of age. I'm also maybe a tad more mature than you'd expect. I like writing, and playing strategic video and computer games. I'm pretty creative, too...I hope to be an author someday, mostly of sci-fi/fantasy stuff. Unfortunately, I have the ultimate enemy of that career to deal with...procrastination! *eerie echoing*

Much prefer the series to the movie, although when the movie comes on, I do like to note the inconsistencies with the show. Just picky, I guess. What else...went back to school to get my associate's degree after a military stint and some 15 yrs. (hence the name.)

I've been a stargate fan since I saw the movie when it first came out on video. I became a big fan of SG-1 when I was watching it with my dad back when season 6 first showed on Sci-fi. My favorite character is Jack, he reminds me of me with his attitude, how he acts to people higher then him, and how much he loves fishing. :D

I'm also likeing Atlantis but it still dosen't have the same respect that I have for SG1, but so far I'm likeing it.

I've been a fan of Stargate when I first saw the movie and then the first ep. I followed Stargate for about 3 seasons then i got a little tired of watching, so I watched every now and them. However, recently I came across Stargate Atlantis and I fell back into my old addiction and here I am! ;)

Been around for a few weeks and never got to this... but hey, it's not to late... ;)

I'm a historian by training and have a specialization in modern (post world war II) German history--thus I have a tendency to go off about random subjects I'm afraid, giving way more information that most people want. I saw an episode of Stargate about six years ago (I bought a VHS of Children of the Gods thinking that it was the movie. It didn't catch my fancy and I didn't have Showtime, so nothing came of it.

A couple months ago I was drafted into an online role playing game to play the role of Samantha Carter, mainly because originally I started out as a military historian, and my parents and siblings are scientists, so I could fake the characters knowledge better than the woman who had been playing her, and as a consequence I delved into all things Stargate. Thank god for SciFi playing it 13 times a week ;)

I am from Germany (anyone german in this forum?). I loved Stargate from the beginning (movie), but the show is much better especially Richard Dean Anderson as O'Neill. I was happy that Kawalsky died soon because i really hated this character (I don't why :p ).
Atlantis had a good start and the Wraith are very interesting new enemies. McKay really is the funniest one in the whole team (I love those funny characters). For me (don't speaking english very well) it's hard to understand what all people say (so I have to watch every episode twice :o ).
At least there is only one thing left to say about me: except of Stargate I am a big Anime fan. My favourite is 'Hagare no Renkinjutsusushi'.

hi this my 1st post here um aside from stargate i like anime, computers, scifi in general, video games, in other words (as my friend puts it) "nerding it up" also im addicted to fast food, and i love watching cartoons, the vast majority of my favorite tv shows are either american cartoons or anime, i dont wach alot of live action shows, other than stargate. i also play day of defeat alot, and i like punk rock. i dislike going outside, natural light, wearing pants, almost any music on mtv, and being around other people especially large groups. also im a former mental patient. ^_^

hello. i am Stephanie. i love Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, Lord of the Rings, Tru Calling, a bunch of other shows and movies too... i make vids mainly for SG-1 but alot of LOTR too, and other stuff when i get time (which lately has been too often with computer trouble and other crap).

i run Luke's site, Golden Temptations, the Lord of the Rings Music Video Awards, and my own site when i have all the crap i make. i'm a judge for the Surreal Awards (i keep on trying to put the link up here, but it just decides to blank out one of the words that's in the address...)

i've had alot of computer trouble lately (since last Wednesday), and yesterday my grandpa died (don't go all, oh are you okay? and all that because i'm really really good. wasn't really close to him or anything. we all don't get involved in my mom's side of the family.)

so... um... i'm 15. almost 16. i have an older sister who's 18 and totally in love with Stargate also. loves McKay (who can blame her? :P)

Hello all, my name is Brendan and I've been a fan of SG-1 since it's fifth season premiere. :cool:

I never liked the show or even watched it before that and never even cared too, even though I am a Star Trek fan and a general lover of sci-fi. But I was at a friends house one night and he's into SG-1 and put the premiere on, and I think I was waiting for something to finish on his computer that I needed, so I stayed and watched it. When it was done I turned to him and said, "That was pretty good." And from then I've been an SG-1 fan. :D I started watching the re-runs that a local station used to air everyday at 7pm, and it caught me up. It took me awhile to actually get into the show but I love it now.

I feel SG-1 is the best sci-fi show currently on television. :cool:

been watching stargate since it started, remember seeing the movie when it came out. at first SG1 didnt really appeal to me, it was season 5 that grabbed me, and since then i get all the box sets as they come out and have a very good understanding of the whole stargate story (apart from the ancients being millions of years old and the asgard were their allies etc!?!?! )

What ya do is to click on the pic, go to properties, then copy the URL address. then go to My controls on the top of the page, and then on the left hand side scroll down until you see Edit Signature,,click..and then go to where you type your sig,,,and click on the pic that is underneath where you choose what size and color you font is..(it looks like a postcard pic with a mountain..it's yellow...) then paste your URL in the box that it gives you and click ok...It should work!!

I'm a newbie here but have been watching Stargate SG-1 since the very first episode. I live in the UK, so season eight of SG-1 just began over here this week - and I'm very excited right now, because Atlantis begins airing here next week! :D

I'm an aspiring writer. I'm in the middle of a career break from work right now and am busy with a creative writing study course and an editing/proofreading course. Plus I'm writing my second novel and trying to sell my first!

I love most cult tv shows (Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Enterprise, Joan of Arcadia, Battlestar Galactica, Tru Calling, Dead Like Me, The Dead Zone, etc), I have a huge DVD collection, and I also love footie (I support Blackburn Rovers FC).

Oh, and my favourite Stargate character is Rodney McKay (I know Atlantis hasn't started here yet but David Hewlett is always fantastic and I loved his guest appearances on SG-1), with Daniel a close second.

There's a section on GW called About The Forum. I'd recommend reading the first post, or first few posts, of the Sticky threads (they're the ones listed first and are all titled 'Sticky: How to...' )

I have watched SG-1 since it began airing in the UK, and have watched it through and through :) I did like the original film, and liked the look of the series so watched it avidly, but strangely never fed my taste for it!

Until around a month ago :P
I found play.com to sell the Boxsets at a lovely 25.99, so i erm, well, bought them :P 1-6. And i picked up a R1 2nd hand for £30 which arrived yesterday :) (Just watched the Evolution 2 Episode, forgot how good that was!! :))

I goto university and study Business Studies, have a healthy social life being out most nights (was meant to be in portsmouth tonight, but a friend turned over in his car! :( :( he's ok dont worry!), i like the internet, don't really play many computer games but am a member of a Ford Fiesta Forum! :P
